. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.. like Claire said I hope we all can enjoy the holidays without any repercussions. Tammy I am on month long stalls.. then right before or after mother nature's visit I drop any where from 3 to 5 lbs.. frustrating I have been having a harder time with food lately.. everything that I have for breakfast just comes back up.. not sure what that's all about. I'm hoping it will pass. Best wishes everyone Deanna

Thanks everyone for posting about being able to eat more with fewer limitations. I was afraid it was just me. I wish I still had "trigger" foods that caused me to rethink eating it. The only thing that is helping is to remember a statement that was said in one of my early support classes... "remember where you were and do everything not to get back to that point"... easier said than done but it helps me to rethink my choices most of the time. It's hard especially when everyone else in the house is snacking and you just want one bite.. but isn't that one of the issues that started my obsession with food to start with? Best wishes Deanna

I accomplished my goal of running a 5k since starting this journey one year ago. My next goal is a 10k, then a half marathon and finally a full marathon. Not sure why my picture is sideways.. but this is after the race and I came in under 30 minutes.. this has been an amazing journey ! I am so grateful for all of the support..

NSA.. there are soooo many now..but my favorite this week is that I will be able to run in my 1st 5k race. Besides getting healthy this was a goal I set for my self before I had surgery. I can't wait until Saturday Nov 1 to finally achieve this. I'm not looking for first place..just want to fully run and finish it. Deanna

Tammy I am also on the slow weight loss. I have lost about 85 lbs since surgery and have not hit the 100 lbs lost as of yet. We will get there eventually. .are you losing more inches? I also forgot to add another favorite food.. Sushi rolls but have it wrapped in a cucumber instead of the rice.

Breakfast.. String cheese..low fat with a banana Open face egg mcmuffin..low calorie English muffin Canadian bacon and egg.. i sometimes add a slice of low fat cheese. Lunch Low fat, low sodium crackers with tuna salad Salad with grilled chicken Apple slices with peanut butter 100 calorie chunky soup with most of the broth drained off I'm horrible at eating breakfast but I'm trying to improve. But I agree with Janette..buy the frozen turkey meatballs they are very good.. I like mine plain but I'm sure with the sauce and cheese they are even better. Yesterday at my support group meeting a few great tips were shared.. Food subsitutes..go to mayo clinic- healthy-living. And for a protein shake alternative ( if you just hate the shakes) new way liquid protein. . Just add to your water and you get 42 grams of protein per serving. I have trouble getting enough protein daily so I will be trying this out.. I know where I am at we can get it at GNC stores or online.

    Chewing food to mush

I am 8 months post op.. and it will get easier. I hated eating in the beginning and it's still not the favorite on my list but you need to try and eat at each stage of post op to keep the new opening working correctly and not shrinking up. Broccoli is still my enemy and bread. You will eventually get back into a eating routine. The worst pain ever is getting the food stuck from not chewing. Best wishes and know others have been there too!

  15. I also had a very large hiatal hernia that was discovered during my bypass.. my surgeon repaired it while he was in there. I was pretty sore after surgery but other than that all went well.

Kimr I'm not sure the 5 day pouch test helps all that much.. yes I lost 5 lbs, but I think the bigger advantage of doing this was to get back to basics. I think I was wanting to eat the sludge making foods so that my new pouch didn't hurt afterwards. I was definitely eating more calories than I should have been, but the sludge foods move right through you making it easier. Now that I am aware of this I am back to the protein foods and hope my pouch feels uncomfortable so I will not fall back into old habits. I haven't lost any weight since the pouch test, but the inches are moving so that's a good thing, even though I really want to see that scale move. Like Sammy I might look into a personal trainer during the cooler month's. . Not that it gets very cold here in California.. Great job everyone!!!

Coak99 You are doing great!.. I think the last few pounds are the hardest. Your surgery day will be here before you know it. Keep up the great work!

The group is very quiet.. must be that we are doing AMAZING!.. The information that my dr said how the weight loss slows down after 6 months is proving true for me. I have resorted to the 5 day pouch test which helps you get back on track.. it seems to have given me a little kick start. I so wish this surgery had a dumping effect with carbs!.. it definitely has not been a problem with me. I was able to lose 5 lbs while doing this. I think my body is really holding on to the final weight loss.... but that's ok because I'm at a healthier place and it's been soooo long since I've been able to say that. I truly hope that each of you are having a successful experience. You all are amazing with the success you have had this far! Best wishes Deanna

    Traveling!

Many restaurants will let you split a plate for a small fee or even let you order from the kids menu. When we would meet up with family or friends I would just order a small side dish and take a little piece of protein from my husband's plate. I understand completely going to a place like NYC you want to try different foods just be careful. You don't want to be out having fun and eat something that doesn't agree with you where you are sick the rest of the night. Best wishes!

I wouldn't get worried as long as you are losing inches. Your body is just trying to catch up with the weight loss. I had a stall for 2 weeks, but I was not losing inches. It will start again be patient. I know it's frustrating not seeing a change on the scale. You're doing great!
