  1. got an email about local groups...I remember trying to see if this was was active...the person who started it does not seem to have done much and they can't give those right to someone else. Then someone tried to get something going on the regular forums from that group I got invited to join a group that goes to bunch of different support meetings sponsored by all the different hospitals...but through that I was invited to join a DFW facebook page that is private so only group members see those posts. As it turns out for me, I don't get to go to as many meetings as I would like....due to time. I've made exercise a priority and with working and spending time with hubby and family...it just hasn't happened. http://kimwls.blogspot.com/ here is my blog...as I started exercising more my posts started slacking, so my goal this year is to be a better blogger. Followers and comments might help there. I also have a pinterest board called my new healthy that has lots of good stuff. http://www.pinterest.com/kimberlybacon/my-new-healthy/
  2. I could do Irving... Did the survey ... Said Monday... But Tuesdays are good too, thanks for getting this going.
  3. I like the idea of breaking it down to areas, I live on the border of The Colony ,Frisco.... Where all the the construction is going on for that enormous furniture store.
  4. I don't know it mine is quality....I'm still pre op but you are welcome to check it out. http://kimwls.blogspot.com/ I checked yours out...did not see where to follow, so I book marked it. I enjoy reading blogs too. there is a link on the side to one I just started following called the RNY life....it looks pretty good.
  5. I tried to add as KSHEPA...but I need to have your email address...or you need to be on my contact list or facebook friends. my email is kimquilts55@yahoo.com if you want to add me. My surgery is next week....so I will we a few weeks before I start really getting active.
  6. And we have a winner...@1Day1Life4Now...you got it...I am a teacher.
  7. @@1Day1Life4Now I am not a gov. contractor....but I retired from the Air Force in 1996...nearing the end of my 2nd career now...(about 3 years out if I figured it right)... hint:I do like kids LilMissDiva Irene...see above...not a contractor 1Day...someone said artist I believe....I'm going to say you like crafty things as a hobby....but your job is something like HR?
  8. and now I'm curious about Sharpie too....someone guessed construction worker.....I'm going to go along those lines and say contractor?
  9. Fun idea for a game.....my avatar picture has absolutely nothing to do with what I do for a living...good luck! :0 so Woo woo said she's a Petroleum Landman....don't need to guess that....right? and LilBoo007 is still open.....some sort of administration?
  10. I can't remember who was having surgery today.....have we heard anything?....how are they doing?
  11. I use a fitbit....and find it very motivating.....I'm not one who loves to exercise so any help in motivation is good.
  12. if you use Bariatric Advantage....they have an app that sounds something like compliant....I'm going to start on it right before I start the pre-op.
  13. @ loveskinnyme, thanks for posting about the quit smoking app....I quit April 8 last year.......so according to the app I've saved $1676.04....now that is motivating. I start liquids June 10...I'm guessing I'm going to get the headache about 3 days in, since I have every other time I've gone no carbs....it's encouraging to know it gets better and it's doable. I sort of feel like my life depends on me doing what I'm suppose to....now if that doesn't motivate...nothing will.
  14. Intragram is a cool idea...I will look for you. I'm 19 days out. I saw something cool on some nerdy science show, where a guy who had surgery....can't remember if they said which of the procedures, but he took a selfie in the same spot everyday for a year, then put it into a video, like a time lapse video.....it was pretty remarkable to watch the transformation.
  15. Great way to share the experience, I'm following you now. I'm sharing via blogs.....if you would like to follow me. http://kimwls.blogspot.com/ basic journey and http://kimquilts55wls.wordpress.com/ this one I will use for recipes.
  16. If anyone wants to add me my email is kimquilts55@gmail.com.
  17. I have one....I love it....not getting all my steps in yet...hoping once some pounds are gone I will have more energy, I'm still preop.
  18. Single digit clothes size sounds amazing, even though my number one reason is health.... I don't really mind looking better.
  19. I had my EGD today. I wrote a little blog about it if you are interested. http://kimwls.blogspot.com/ .....I'm actually blogging the whole experience, but since I'm still pre-op....there is not much yet. I'm on June 17 for surgery, and June 10 for liquid pre-op.......it is very interesting hearing about all the different preps and protocols. I will also have to do anti clotting injections for 2 weeks post op....they said they just recently (about a year ago) started that and have not had a single patient get a blood clot since.
  20. I've heard the losing your hair is attributed to not getting enough Protein.
  21. I'm about a week behind y'all, steak and Lobster sounds like a great last meal!
  22. Getting close 25 days to surgery June 17 18 days to pre op liquids June 10 EGD Wednesday May 28 Re: Goal weight....no one has been specific about that with me.....my personal goal keeps moving between 150 and 140 ....I'm 5'5"....used to be taller.....my biggest goal is health and getting off at least some of my meds.
  23. I was wondering about this too, logically protein supplements and all supplements should at least be covered post op because they are needed medically....but when it comes to Insurance....and recent health care changes....what does logic have to do with it/
  24. the liquid pre-op is any kind of low fat, no sugar, low carb liquids.....designed to shrink your liver as I understand it. I will still be at work when I start it....I work in public education....then I have a quick trip to NC to deliver #1 grandson to his dad for the summer.
