  1. Best of luck to you and your new beginning !
  2. Everyone's circumstances are different. For me, I'm just altogether a private person. I work with all women, and some are very catty, I don't want to be center of any gossip/ negativity. My work also deals with not only fellow employees, but many clients, and I don't feel like discussing my surgery with every person that sits at my desk. I've told my close friends and family, and if it feels right, I will open up and tell others , and I have ...for me it's really at work where I do not wish to tell people my business. We are all different, and all entitled to tell or not to tell. I don't think anyone has the same reasons as anyone else. It's hard to generalize as to why we tell or don't tell.
  3. I started cross fit and jogging a month before surgery. What keeps me going is how much easier it gets , especially the jogging. That's probably when I feel the weightloss the most! It's hard to get in the mind frame, but once you do , and for me, if I exercise regular the scale moves down much faster! Always a good incentive! Good luck, it sounds like you're doing great!
  4. I hit 199 today! I'm getting there, slow but sure
  5. Exactly 199.0 wahoo! Onederland!
  6. I paid 10500 in south florida, three days in hospital. Bariatric hospital. Of excellence . Everything went smoothly.
  7. I personally am the queen of yo yo weight gain/loss. Although it is more weight than I have lost in the past, it is not unusual for me to lose and then balloon. I have kept a weight log since 2004 and I have quantifiably yoyo'ed 30 or more lbs every 18 to 24 months for the last 10 years. They just might question when I don't gain this time. dde0b. That is so me! Always up and down, I didn't tell anyone at work, and they haven't said anything yet about my weightloss I'm pretty sure it's because of my yoyo dieting in the past, and that's fine with me. I'm only 5 weeks out.
  8. For me, my most favorite thing is I will never ever wake up in the morning with a food hangover again! Yes, I am putting this out there. I would eat so much crap at night. As if I was never going to eat again, and in the morning, I would feel so awful mentally and physically. I'd be so bloated that I'd fret about what would actually fit my bloated belly? I'd hate myself for doing this. Why couldn't I control myself? I'm only 5 weeks out, but I can tell you that when I get up in the morning it's the best feeling to not be bloated, and not have guilt as my first thought as I get out of bed. I'm actually not even grumpy in the mornings, and I used to be! It never occurred to me why, but yeah that's why!
  9. I've had sushi with no problems as well , just plain tuna roll with brown rice, it actually went down very well, I enjoyed it very much! )
  10. Like most others -been there done that. If skinny can in a bottle, I'd stick with that instead of surgery, but- after you stop taking it the weight comes right back ,too many bad side effects as well . It's not permanent like wls
  11. I was allowed to eat chicken 3 days post op, just had to be fine, like put in the food processor. Now 5 weeks out, I can eat grilled chicken , just chew it well, you'll be just fine.
  12. I'm down 26 pounds as of today in one month post op.( I lost 9 of them pre op.) it's been a slow go, had a stall, but the scale has been moving downward this week.
  13. Yes, I did, I believe I was dehydrated , and the pain was actually kidney pain, have you looked into that at all? I drank more water and within a week the pain was gone.
  14. Good for you! Best of luck
  15. This is so normal, we all love food, love to eat, we wouldn't be overweight if we didn't. For me, I am an emotional eater, especially a carb lover. I had my surgery a month ago, and trust me, your relationship with food will change. I have yet to even desire a piece of bread or pasta or rice, my three most favorite things. I never imagined that this surgery would actually change my taste for things, but it has. Don't get me wrong , you have to work at it . But this tool helps out so much! When you see results, it helps even more to stay track. I'm only a month out so I'm no expert, but for me, I'm doing greater than I expected! You can too, if I can stick to program, anyone can.
  16. Thanks y'all for this very inspiring thread! I loved reading all the responses, and only hope I can soon add on to a positive thread like this with my experience and knowledge! I'm on my way. Good luck all!
  17. Baked mahi mahi, chopped avocado, black beans, sliced mango, fresh cilantro, lemon juice. It's what's for dinner.
  18. It's human to worry about complications . I'm sure every single one of us have. My cousin did also, and actually canceled surgery THREE times! Always something would come up, and to her it was a "sign" . Well, I had mine a month ago, I love it. And there my cousin is, who I love to pieces , still heavy and unhealthy. Good luck in your decision!
  19. I felt that way too! Especially the last 2 weeks of pre op. The morning of my surgery I was thinking, wth am I doing? The next 3 days postop was pretty bad too. But from then on in, it's gotten easier and easier! I love my sleeve. I love my new lifestyle. I'm a very slow loser, always have been. But I love knowing that inevitably the weight will come off! Yay! So please know, it will get worse before it gets better, but once it gets better, it will be very well worth it! Hang in there!
  20. How do you get rid of the water retention? I'm up a pound now from a few days ago, is there something we can do? Does drinking a lot of water flush out the bloat? Just curious...
  21. That's totally crazy! I was somewhat in the same boat, still am. I believe that at 600 calories a day, our bodies go into starvation mode, and hold on to the fat I'm post op one month, and taking in 600/800 cals a day, and was up a half pound today, I feel your pain. But inevitably it will come off.
