    Off and on.

Hello everyone! Well it has been since April 1st I had my bariatric sleeve surgery. I am 36 years young and hoping to continue feeling better. I went back in the gym, training for two and half months now. I still have a some tenderness and discomfort that likes to pop up every now n then if I go to heavy with weights or eat a little more then I should BUT I manage it by toning it down. I am getting strong again and close to being where I was 7 years ago fit, but not quit near 230 lbs being my normal weight throughout my years. Before the surgery I was weighing in at 430lbs, 4 months later I am weighing in at 325lbs 6ft tall. It feels good bringing out my old close from a few years ago lol. I am thankful things are moving along and hope they continue this way as I stay dedicated to my clean eating and working out healthy living old lifestyle again.............. But My main question is, I was told by another Dr who I randomly ran into on my vacation to San Diego through a friend who is a surgeon, stated that having bariatric sleeve surgery is a dangerousness procedure because the stomach never fully heals and can cause a lifetime possible bacteria infections. Has anyone heard of this??

    Bitter Sweet

Hello Bariatric team! I recently had the bariatric sleeve procedure on April 1st of 2014. It's has been bitter sweet experience so far. I am currently down 90 lbs, went from a 430 lb bull to a 340 lb Ox so far lol. Thankfully being a personal trainer and a health nut in the past once upon a time in my 20s, My experience helped assist with immense weight loss with in a short period. I am 35 years young and looking forward to becoming fit (again) as I was 6-7 years ago. I eat well and very clean, I use the rest room fine with no complications go to the gym and workout daily, rocking the house. I feel great! ....... (EXCEPT) I have had a lot of pain healing since the surgery, I was in such pain trying healing, Dr said I am just am one of those who is healing differently with pain and it happens ??? So I went to the Dr. And they checked everything from A-Z admitting myself to the hospital due to the sever pains, and nothing was wrong with me and they did not see any negative signs , "thank God" but I am still having stomach pains and I don't know why, two and half months later I still have this awkward pain on my left side and near the stomach area. I called the Dr and he wants a to check my blood AGAIN?? My question is, has anyone had the same experience or understand what it is may be going through!?

    My nose is always cold.

I was health nut and personal trainer through out my twenties .... Not to toot my own horn hear but I ended up going from 240lb at the age of 30yrs to 430lb at the age of 35yrs within 5 years. ..... Once I saw that 430 lb mark I said its time to force portion control through a kick start , having bariatric sleeve surgury. I'm weighing in at 365lb now.
  5. Well on March 18th I started my diet two weeks before the surgery. On April 1st I had my surgery. I have lost 65 pounds in 50 days. It has been a painful healing but I'm pulling through. I have been hitting the cardio at the gym drinking 3-5 Protein shakes a day along with a bowel of lean soups and taking many vitamins and minerals like I have alway been for decades.......... I have an issue, my nose has always been cold since I had my surgery. I've never had my nose cold all the time like this. Is this something I should be aware of?

    Trained too soon

Everyone, thanks for the feedback. I have lost 65 lb in 50 days since I've started the diet on March 18th. I went from 430 to 365. I have always been training my whole life. I've been religiously playing football growing up and remained active but when it came to portion control along with being a culinary junky eating delicious food, portion control was not an existence. At the age 19 I went from 200 up to 400lb at the age of 24 then I lost 160 kept it off for nearly 8 years, somehow I got comfortable and gained it back so this is why I made the decision of having this surgery. I don't have a problem loosing the wieght it's gaining it back....... In the meantime In regards to my post on having stomach muscle pains, I submitted myself to the hospital and had X-ray along with having my blood work checked, well there is no sign of damage or anything to be concern of thank God. I guess it was just nerve irritation and tender wounds painfully healing. Thanks again everyone for the helpful comments!

    Trained too soon

Hello everyone I recently had my bariatric sleeve surgery on April 1 st. I went for my two week check up after the surgery, and the doctor said for me to go ahead and work out he gave me the clear to go do cardio and work out. I have relatives and family who went to the same doctor and had there surgery done by my same doctor. Now when talking with relatives and friends they stated wait six weeks not two weeks to start training. Well I visited the doctor again after a month which was a last week, he stated I should have started working out so I started working out which ended up being a month later just to be save. After working out lifting up lightweights bench pressing I find myself straining my stomach muscles. My stomach muscles were in pain for a couple days I was assuming it was my stomach itself being in sever pain being new to me. Well thankfully after couple days the pain went away, I was taking pain killers for extra help. Today something odd felt upon my stomach.... It feels like knives stabbing around my navel and I started feeling them again now. Please I would like some advice or opinions.

    Too soon

In addition, I was told by the Dr that it is my stomach muscles that are in pain. I guess my concern is why the Dr seems to take this lightly.

    Too soon

I called the Dr, he said take it easy and go light when working out. He said I am fine. That's what doesn't make sense. This Dr is known to be one of the top surgens in Michigan.

    Too soon

Hello everyone. I had my surgery on April 1st. After two weeks I went for an update with my doctor. Oddly he cleared me to work out a train after two weeks. Thankfully I had family & friends who had this bariatric sleeve surgery the same one that I did. They were there for moral support and any questions or concerns I had. They told me not to work out after two weeks and wait up to six weeks. While I was having side pains from nerve muscles, I scheduled an appointment with the doctor two weeks later which made it a month from the day of surgery. He told me work out it was okay and take a painkiller if you're still having their pains. Not my pain is gone, so I started working out normally, yesterday was chest day, so I was benching 150 I usually bench 275 to 300. Well now my stomach is in severe pain and I am concerned. Can anyone give me some insight. I am new on this application. So I hope I am commenting in the correct subject
