    Dr. Fernando Garcia?

I don't think he does more than 4 per day. My wife and I had ours and we were the only two on that day. Looking at the surgery board I only saw him do 3 one day that week and no days more than that. Both my wife and I highly recommend Dr. Garcia. The nursing staff and hotel you stay at are also great.
  2. I got Dr. Garcia for $4200 a month ago. It can be done. Like anything else in mexico, negotiating is key!
  3. I met 3 canadian ladies who had all had sleeve done with Ready4Achange when I was in Tijuana. The hospital that Ready4achange uses also has a cancer ward on the top two floors and I met several people from there as well and almost all of them I met were canadian as well. If you have serious health issues already (heart problems, liver problems, some other internal malfunction, etc) and expect complications then you should probably stay in canada. However, neither me nor my wife had serious health issues other than being fat and having sleep apnea, nearly diabetic, and some bum joints/backs from being fat. So because of the relatively small list of issues with us, we decided to go ahead and have it in Mexico. We both are losing a ton of weight and we're happy as pigs in shit that we went to mexico. Saved us a ton of $$ and we got GREAT care.
  4. My wife and I had sleeve through Dr. Garcia. We are a month out now and have lost over 40lbs each (we did lose 10 pre-op though!). I loved the staff at Dr. Garcia's and would recommend it to anyone. The hospital isn't stunningly beautiful or brand new but it was clean and the staff to me was better than any staff I have seen at a hospital in the USA. The nurses were very attentive and a lot of them were very attractive to boot! My wife had a tough time with lots of vomiting on the night after surgery and the nurses were in her room non-stop helping her out and just being great overall. Also one of the doctors, the blonde that does the in house care, had sleeve done a year or more ago and looks amazing. The Marriott was super nice and we actually went to the "Caliente" casino which is right behind the hotel. We got all the soups and popsicles we needed from the hotel as well. I went to Ready4achange because someone on here recommended them and I don't regret it one bit. Dr. Garcia was great!
  5. Yes. It took me like 25 mins and I had only had a yogurt for breakfast that day, but yes I did. My wife and I had surgery on same day and I have always been able to eat more. I talked to my doctor about it and he said that my stomach is much longer than hers. I am 6'5" tall so he said my banana is just flat out longer than most people's. It worried me at first but he said that because of my height and the fact that I am male, being able to eat an ounce or two more than my wife at a sitting is no big deal.
  6. Ahh makes sense. I haven't had any issues with that ever though. I really like the Muller Fruit in the corner (you can get coupons for this and its cheaper than chobani), I also like the chobani 100 calorie greek yogurt and the chobani fruit in the bottom 130 calories. The only "stuck" issues I have are with Pasta of any kind, very hard/dense Proteins such as pork chops (I haven't even tried steak yet!), breads of any kind including corn and flour tortillas. On a side note I had a small chili from Wendy's today for lunch, I even got cheese on it to up the Protein a little. For 250 calories it was a full meal that wasn't too bad (you can get it with 170 calories if you don't get the cheese). Definately a meal I will go back to when I'm out and about with nothing super healthy to eat.
  7. It says 1-week post op at the top and this looks like what I was on for the 1st week. I had a hard time with eggs when I ate them in the first week though. 3 spoonfulls gave me the "stuck" feeling. Also, I always get greek yogurt with fruit. At that time I was eating 600 or less calories a day so I don't see the harm in a greek yogurt with 130-150 calories!
  8. Hello, My wife and I had our surgery on May 29th. We've both lost around 35lbs with 10-12 of those pounds coming off in the pre-op diet. My wife is eating about 500 calories per day. I'm eating about 900 per day. I still can't eat much per meal, but this brings me to my 1st issue (and hers a bit too). 1. I get hungry at night. I eat, then hungry an hour or two later. I don't get hungry before 4pm. I wake up at 7am and eat a greek yogurt or something for Breakfast and then Soup or something small for lunch. I can't eat over a cup (unless its liquid, then I can), I also don't drink during my meals or 15 minutes before and 30 mins after. My wife wife also gets hungry at night too, but not nearly as bad. She says pretty much the same thing, no hunger during the day but eats anyway to get her Protein, then hungry at night. Any cures for this? 2. I can't get enough Water in. I mean, before sleeve I drank like one glass a week or something but now I'm trying hard to get 64oz + per day but I just can't do it. I feel like the titanic taking in that much water! I usually get 48oz + Any tips? Thanks!

    Brass Tax

My wife and I both had the sleeve. She's 26 and I'm 33 and we've each lost 35 lbs or so since day 1 of the pre-op diet to now (May 15th - June 22nd). We paid $4,250 each, cash, at Ready4Achange in Tijuana, Mexico. Given an unlimited budget and our choice of doctors, we would probably go right back and do it again in Mexico. The nurses were nicer (and in my opinion super cute!) in mexico than anything I have experienced in the states. Not saying nurses aren't nice in the states, but these nurses really went above and beyond. Besides the hospital/nurses, etc. the Ready4achange group was just great, they picked us up, had us setup in the Marriott Tijuana for post-surgery (which is an absolutely beautiful hotel!) and just made sure we were perfectly taken care of. They do thousands of surgeries there (plastic + WLS) and everything felt really polished. Our surgeon was Dr. Fernando Garcia. I haven't seen anyone on any forum have anything negative to say about him either.

    Any May 2014 sleevers?

My wife and I both got sleeved on 5/29 with Dr. Garcia in Tijuana. We have both lost around 30lbs. We are able to eat almost anything except dense meats (pork chops/steak/dry chicken). But we mostly eat greek yogurt/grilled chix breast/protein shakes. Neither of us can eat more than a cup of food at a time, usually half a cup or less. We are going to start our gym membership next week.
  13. Hello, Wife and I going May 28th for our Sleeves. Just wanting to know if anyone had any trouble bringing back any meds they gave you. I read one review where the reviewer specifically said "Bring back all the pain pills you will think you need, just in case you need them to be comfortable". That seems like great advice, but I really don't want to spend any time in a mexican jail (or american for that fact). So what's the scoop? Thanks!

    Any May 2014 sleevers?

My wife and I have ours set for May 28th at Dr. Fernando Garcia in Tijuana. We're very excited!
  15. Kltklass, Thank you for all the info. Its not so much about the money. But since there are two of us getting it done, we are hoping to keep it reasonable.
  16. So you have TN blue cross blue shield but your in Dallas tx? Am I reading that right. I have bcbs in texas and was covered. I WISH I had BCBS of Texas, unforunately my company is based out of TN and has BCBS of TN.
  17. Hello, My wife and I are both wanting to get sleeve surgery but our insurance apparently doesn't cover anything these days. I even have high blood pressure and a Hiatal hernia. My PCP actually referred me to the weight loss surgeon too!! Anyway, neither of us have ever had surgery in our lives and are pretty heartbroken about the whole ordeal. I've looked all over the website for blue cross blue shield of TN and I don't see anything about WLS not being covered. There is an explanation of benefits form but its apparently not available to be viewed online for our plan. When I do a search I see that no one else apparently has trouble getting BCBS of TN to pay. Some have to go on a diet plan for 6 months, but I wasn't even given that option. Any ideas on where to go from here? I have an email into the insurance company already. But if they told my doctor "NO" they are probably going to tell me NO as well! I'm located in Dallas, and have some of the best WLS surgeons right at my finger tips! Can I fight this? Can I actually win?
