    Surgery after 65

Hi all! Reading these posts sure helps me realize I am so not in this alone! I am 58 and am 3 weeks post-op. I, too, had started down the road of "health issues because of your age"; I just wasn't happy with hearing that from my PCD! I have lost about 16.5lbs. since I started this journey. It is very slow coming off since I had a very low BMI (31) to begin with. And, most days I am ok with that. I have to remind myself that the REAL reason I had the surgery was to stop the yo-yo dieting and to be aware that I would really have to work at "rewarding" myself if I had a good day, bad day, lonely day, long day, etc. Of course, the best feeling is seeing the scale move and I must say I'll take whatever I can get. My blood pressure is normal for the first time in several years and my knees don't hurt like they did before. I want to wish each of you good luck in your journey to good health! I'm really excited to see the progress we are all making!☺️

    Post-op 1 week today! Questions....

Hi Brooke, I am 9 days out from surgery, and I too have questions. I haven't lost but 2 lbs since my surgery. Total weight loss of 17.5 lbs. total in 3 weeks (2 weeks pre-op). Kinda concerned that the weight doesn't seem to be coming off as fast as I thought it would. My BMI was at 30 when I had the surgery and my weight was 177. I am walking everyday. I am hoping when I get back to work next week that the weight will begin to fall off. I am only having very liquid foods and Protein drinks until next week. Then on to soft puréed foods. No complications as far as drinking anything either. But I am careful about how much over what time period. I too am afraid to not follow the drs. orders. I guess I am just looking for support and would appreciate all offered. Christina
