  1. I was sleeved on May 1st. I went into surgery weighing 223, I was on two cholesterol medicines and a blood pressure med. I had been taking these for years! I am now 8 weeks post op and went for a follow up with my Endocrinologist for my Thyroid issue.................

My cholesterol is now PERFECT, I am no longer pre diabetic and my blood pressure is PERFECT!! No more meds!! I am so happy! I will always have to take med for thyroid but I couldn't feel more victorious! Todays weight is 185!

I chose this surgery for my health, and it WORKS! Love my sleeve!

  2. I am 4 weeks post op today. This morning I woke up and did a really big stretch and felt a POP inside the incision to the left of my belly button!!! It has me concerned. Was this an internal stitch?? Should I call my Doctor?? For a little while I felt a little pain but it went away and I haven't had any other problems. It was definitely a strange feeling and it felt like a stitch popped.

  3. I am 4 weeks out tomorrow, and tried to eat a hard-boiled egg this morning. It didn't sit well in my sleeve. It felt heavy and I felt full and nauseas for several hours afterwards. Funny thing is, I can eat egg salad with NO PROBLEM! So I think the problem was that a hard-boiled egg by itself is TOO DRY. I have eaten soft scrambled eggs with cheese and salsa with no problem also. I have to remind myself that the foods I eat not only have to be soft, but also MOIST. The moisture content in a food can make all the difference between happy sleeve and MAD sleeve! As to your other question, dumping can include diarrhea, but just diarrhea by itself does not mean you are dumping. If you ever dump you will definitely know it and never want it to happen again. People say it feels like you are dying. You get sweaty, heart racing, severe cramps, some people even pass out. It lasts around 20-30 minutes and passes on its own. My NUT says eating a handful of nuts MAY help it to pass sooner, but basically you just have to wait it out. I've never dumped (yet), but I read a thread on this site earlier today by a sleever who was eating sugar-free, fat-free frozen yogurt. She ate it regularly, but this time she wasn't paying attention and ate about twice the amount she usually ate. It caused her to dump, even though it was sugar and fat free; it was that she ate too much of it. Frozen yogurt is a "slider food" that we could all probably eat too much of because it doesn't stay in the sleeve for long. Good luck to you, and remember to keep your food MOIST! :)

This makes perfect sense!! I did have egg salad the other day and it was fine. The hard boiled egg today was pure hell for atleast an hour!

    Thanks for your reply!

  4. I am 3 weeks post op and have done extremely well.....no complications, problems or pain. (20 lbs down) My doctor moved me to soft foods yesterday ...woohoo!!!

This morning, I felt pain in my gut. It was so painful, I skipped Breakfast. The feeling soon subsided a little with lots of GasX. Then I ate!!!!!! Mistake!!

I had a boiled egg. Probably ate it too fast since it was 2 o'clock and I hadn't had anything all day for the pain I was having. OMG! My sleevie hurt so bad! I got up and walked, and walked and walked. Got clamy and finally, after about 30 minutes it passed.

I am going back to creamy stage for fear of this again. I need to learn a lot, first and foremost, eat SLOWER!

Is this what you call "dumping"? I have read conflicting posts regarding dumping....some say it is when you are sent running to the bathroom for emergency #2 and some say it is similar to what I experienced today.

  5. Just got all my clearance for May 12 surgery. Starting to freak out about the permanence of never being able to devour a plate of food or drink with my friends. I can see now that I'll become the designated driver. Yikes! If this was only cosmetic I would probably back out but it's health benefits out way everything else.

I had all the same fears. I had a week long food funeral and ate everything in masses. I finally realized I was tired of food controlling me. You will be so happy you made this choice! I am one week post op and am down 16 lbs today. And as far as the drinking, my doc told me yesterday that I can drink as much as i want after July as long as I have a DD! I am going on a girls cruise late July so I will see how it goes! : )
