Hi, I'm 5'3" (just under actually). My highest weight was 209.6. I was on a 4 week pre op and had surgery June 30. I am down 40 lbs as of today. I am 50% to my goal weight.

I had IV in my right hand. The vein collapsed and the IV Fluid went into my hand. It was quite swollen and sore. I actually have developed a blood clot in my right hand vein so I am taking meds for that. it's getting better.

We had a cancelled flight from Mexico to Canada so we ended up having a 21 hour day from the time we woke up to the time we got home. Three flights. I wore really good compression hose. I went to a medical supply store and bought them. Then I wore them for 4 days after I got home. Just walk a lot.

For me, honesty has been my policy. I tell everyone! I remember thinking back years ago when Star Jones had her weight loss surgery but wouldn't admit it...she knew she had it and everybody else did too! She just looked crazy with the "eating right and exercising" line. People who I work with, went to school with and so on know I have been big my entire life. I have absolutely zero problem telling them I had the sleeve and many ask me about the procedure. Hey...maybe I've helped someone!!
I can respect that some people are perfectly ok with everyone knowing. I'm not. If I had a hysterectomy I wouldn't be shouting it from the rooftop either. Anyone you tell should also keep it confidential unless you are ok with them telling people. Even at that, its not their business. I have told my family and a few close friends and that's it.

Someone asked me today actually and I said "oh you know, it's not rocket science, less calories in than out!". She said "ya, I know". That was it.

I had gas pain but I used gas x strips and walked. Everyone has a different experience. I didn't have any hiccups or belching. I was ok to pee, no issues there.
I took my pain meds after I was discharged only because they told me to but I didn't feel like I needed them. When I stopped taking them I was perfectly fine.
The worst for me was not sleeping and fatigue. I think the anaesthetic created insomnia. But I seem to be back on track just 17 days out I'm just starting full fluids and getting Protein in and I feel so much better!

You may gain from the anaesthetic. No worries about that. Just walk a lot to get rid of the gas and sip sip sip!

I didn't take much. I bought a nice flowy dress to wear, socks for the hospital, your personal reading stuff. I packed light - carry on. Was worth it.

Good Luck!

I just think that we've had a major change to our body. 80% of our tummy's are gone. The "hormone" Grehlin also went with it - that's a lot for our body to handle. Sleeplessness could be the change in low carb, anaesthetic etc. For me I am am just trying to take it all in stride.

Hi all, it's been a few weeks! LOL.
I'm doing GREAT! Still on Clear Liquids since June 30 surgery. I start full liquids Wednesday.
I'm exhausted from no Protein and have bad insomnia but otherwise I'm good.

Wow, that's crazy.

Hi all, I'm 2 weeks out and I've had terrible insomnia post-surgery. I've been taking the odd sleeping pill to get to sleep. I'm exhausted but just can't sleep or even nap. Going to the dr today for my 2 week check up and I'll be discussing with him. Just wondering if anyone else has experience this?

Surgery June 30. No pain only itching. Ugh!!
-
I'm 8 days out. Lost a total of 32.6 lbs as of this morning (including pre op)
-
Beautiful. Great job.

I'm on clears still but my full trigger is a little hiccup.

I was the same - 2 days in hospital with bad gas pain. I just walked and walked and took GasX strips. They help. Just hang in there, it DOES get better. After about 4 days I felt completely normal.
