Worried about how to keep kids from getting fat.

Hi, I understand your concern. For sure genetics play a part but now that you are aware you can make sure they eat healthy. Remember, you buy the groceries, you make the food, its really up to you what they eat!

    Diet Pop

Ultimately, nothing processed is ideal for anyone. Natural is always better.

    Diet Pop

Canadians also call it pop! LOL

    Warning! Please pass it on

That's horrible. I leave the hospital with a pic of my stomach. I guess they didn't do that for you. Have you touched base with any of the other Canadians to see if they had it done?

    Losing Weight Preop

Why don't you ask your insurance?
  9. It's so funny that you posted this. I've been on a high Protein diet for a week and since I started I've had pain in my ankle. My hubby said it may be gout.
  10. For my dr 4 weeks is the minimum. I'm on week #1. so far/so good. one day liquid - cripes! I have 2 weeks!

How long do these headaches last?

Wow, reading all this I feel so much better .... I am doing 2 weeks of high Protein, low carb, low fat and then 2 weeks of liquids. I think doing the 2 weeks of dieting before the liquid phase helps. I weened off coffee a few weeks ago so I have been 11 days without a headache - I was getting them all the time. Just stay HYDRATED! Get the protein in. Good luck all, its a journey for sure!
  12. Hi, I just looked and they have the tub on their website. Kim

    Scared and overthinking it?

I'm due for surgery June 30 but I was speaking with my facilitator this week and she said I will experience a stall. she said just keep doing what I'm supposed to do and it will come off. Keep up the good work!!!
  14. I was a normal kid, got chubby in grade school. By grade 8 I was slimmer. In high school I was thin but I was always dieting. After my babies I gained weight, lost it, gained it, lost it. I'm sick of the yo yo, that's why I'm doing this. I know I can lose weight and keep it off but I'm hungry all the time and I'm either eating too much or not enough. I need to feel "normal".

    Gaining weight

Hi It's now 19months post gastric sleeve and I have now stopped losing weight and put on 2kgs I'm worried ?? Is this normal what should I do I can eat abit better then before I'm scared I stretching my stomach back to before and gaining all my weight back Pls help Ps I'm started to pick on junk food You can eat junk food if you want to or you could say "No, its not healthy, that's why I am taking this journey. It's for life and I don't want to screw it up". Think about what you can do to fill the void so you don't eat - walk? knit? read? take a bath? sew? Whatever works for you. Just say to yourself "Are the consequences of me eating this really worth it?" If the answer is Yes, then eat it. If the answer is No, then don't eat it.

    June 30 surgery date

    June 30 too!!!!!
  18. You CAN do this AND your hubby is SUPER SUPPORTIVE! For some people that's part of the battle, no support!
  19. That is a GREAT idea! I am ok with sweets BUT sometimes i like a plain old bowl of soup and this is great to get the protein in!
  20. I sarted my preop diet last Thursday (I have a 4 week diet). So, right now i'm on high Protein, low carb, low fat, sugar etc. I have not told anyone I'm having surgery because I think that's my own business. My hubby and I went to his sisters for a bbq sunday evening. When I got there I told everyone I was on a diet. My sister in law kept trying to convince me to have a "cheat day" and eat whatever I wanted. I kept saying no thanks. She just wouldn't let up ... "my friend is a body builder and one cheat day a week is good for you, you need it ... blah blah". I stood my ground. I had a burger (no bun) and salad. I felt good after. Not bloated. I felt like I was making a conscious decision to eat healthy and not give in to peer pressure. Anyone else had a similar experience?
  21. Thanks Everyone! For us June 30 sleevers - just 28 days!!!!!

Blogging, my mother, my guilt and me

I agree with all of you that our life experiences affect how we "behave" (eg. overeating/stress eating) but ultimately, its up to us what we put in our mouth. I grew up in an alcoholic, abusive home then moved into a 30 year abusive marriage but I don't blame anyone for my eating. It's my choice.
