  1. Hi guys.

Guess I'll start by introducing myself. I'm a norwegian male, 39 years old, married, father of two kids, and are working as a Engineering manager in the oil industry here on the west coast of Norway.

I'm one and a half week away from undergoing gastric bypass, and are in the final pre op diet. So far I have lost 13 kg since i started the diet, and needed to loose 7,5 kg so are in good shape.

So how did I end up here?.

I have always been heavy set, and spent my teens and early 20 playing ice hockey, power lifting and martial art. I went to serve in the Norwegian army, and served for three years, before I went to college studying engineering. I was used to eat large portions , but kept the kilos away, due to the simple fact that worked my ass of as a soldier. That kinda changed when i started studying for twelve hours a day. Then the kilos crept on, and they haven't left me since. I steadily gained weight.

I tried everything to loose the weight. Low carb diet, calorie counting, nutrition shakes, you name it, I've tried it. Lost weight but it came back, plus interest.

So a couple of years ago, I got diabetes 2. That was the last drop. I realised that i needed, help, and went to my primary physician. He agreed that Gastric bypass would be the best solution for me, and referred me to the hospital for evaluation. The whole process took about a year, and I'm as I said one and a half week away from my surgery. 21 of oct is the date.

mi Hello from Ireland! I was sleeved on the 8th of July and lost 26kg so far..best decision ever. I wish you all the best! You won't regret it!

  2. I just found your post now....I was sleeved on the 8th July and also hernia and lipoma fixed. I am in bed now, sick after I had a bite of salmon and a bite of an egg. I feel much better knowing I am not the only one with issues. I don't regret the sleeve but I am so confused with all the sickness. I still cannot eat solid food without problems. I did lose weight -about 25kg (55lb)- but I am just so fed up sometimes. I wish you all the best ang good luck on the weight loss. Hugs to you all.

  3. Have any of you had issues with things "going black" when you rise from a seated position? It only lasts a few seconds and I never lose consciousness.

In my third month of hair loss and ready for that to be over!!!

Today is my six month anniversary --

    Starting Weight: 231

    Size: 18/20

    Current Weight: 156

    Size: 8

I have the same problem...I am only 19 days out...lost 12kg ( 26-27 pounds). I was 2 weeks on Clear liquids and since Tuesday on puree until the 31st. I just feel I need to eat better.

  4. Had my surgery on Wednesday and came home today. I gotta say that I feel worse than I expected. One incision is so tight it's dimpled! I don't know if that's normal. I'm walking and sipping but what about nutrition? It's been broth all day which has a total of 20 calories for 32 ozs. No Protein at all which surprised me. I'm also taking pain meds but they are pills I gotta crush up and hide in a teaspoon of sf pudding. It's terrible! I guess tomorrow I start my medifast shakes so hopefully I'll be happier! Hope all you other July sleevers are doing better than me!

Had mine on Tuesday and I have the same diet. Dr said to keep it natural when I asked about shakes. Thursday I have my first post- op and I hope I will be able to go on soft mash diet.. My Dr said he wants me on Clear Liquids until 10 kg gone..so far so good droped 6kg (about 13 pounds) I still can' t believe it.. Good luck!

  5. I am also on the 8th July ( initial they said 7th) and I am all over the place..I wish you all good luck and ignore all the bad reactions...I don't want to share it and my husband also asked me not to share as we don't want to deal with this type of things..my journey is not an easy one and it's my decision which it should not be " judged" by anyone else...yes i did diet most of my life..just didn't work...I want a better life and I fell this the way to have it....I try to stay positive ....good luck again to you all and I hope next week to be able to share some positive post-op. things.

  6. Hi All,

    This is my first post,

My surgery is in less than a week, I don't know my surgeon, I don't know the country, I have not had any tests, I'll be alone..

Am I crazy to do it?

So I'm 45, struggled with my weight and my relationship to food all my life, my BMI is "only" 33, but my eating is out of control and l know I need help, otherwise I'll be miserable for the rest of my life. I don't want to wait for all the serious medical problems to start..

I live in London, England and decided to have the sleeve done about 3 weeks ago, after doing a little research. I would have gone for the mini gastric bypass, but not a lot of doctors do it yet.

Anyway, despite of what people think, I could find no-one to do more than a "balloon" in my stomach, because I'm not morbidly obese.

So I found a surgeon in Amman, JORDAN!!!! Yes, he will do it! I did do a little research into it and the Middle East seems quite advanced when it comes to these type of surgeries. But I do know that most people would no way consider going to an Arab country for surgery. I will be going alone, my pre-op appointment and tests are the day before surgery. I don't need to go on any pre-op diet, in fact in the last 2 weeks I have put on about 10 pounds, just eating things I will never be able to eat again. I will leave hospital the day after surgery and 2 days later fly back to London, it's a 5 and half hour flight.

I have done some crazy things in my life, recently, in January I successfully climbed Kilimanjaro, but reading all the posts here and seeing just how much preparation and thought goes into some people's weight loss journey, it puts a little doubt in my mind...

    Any thoughts on this?

    Any suggestions?

    Any tips?

    Thanks

Hi Lambada, I heard the doctor in those countries are very good, kind and looking well after their patients. I hope your doctor is one of them and a good support for the, beginning of your new life. I don't know much about my doctor either, but he speaks my language at least. All the reviews are ok but you know we are all so different. I wish you all the best on your journey and good luck on becoming a 'big loser'.
