  1. Thanks everyone...It is doing much better. So hopefully it's all up hill from here...
  2. You are correct the lap-band meeting has been cancelled through the Dr. V. They said though if they could get enough support they would start it back up. Maybe we should do that or start something ourselves first and see how that goes and then go to them to start it back up. I was banded on monday th 13th, Dr. Voellinger was my doctor and I am doing great. I have read alot of threads on here and alot of Dr's put you on a liquid diet after the surgery. Dr. V (after you pass this one test) will let you have Clear liquids in the hospital. Then when you get home you have soft mushie food...I have had yoguart, cottage cheese, boiled eggs(smashed), Soups, SF Jello & pudding, grits. Now let me mind you it's not been alot of anything. I would say less then a 1/4 cup. If there is anything else as a newly banded person I can answer please feel free to email.
  3. Hello, I was banded on Monday June 13th. I thought yesterday I was doing alot better. Today I have noticed the area around my port incision is very red and yellow. It seems like the area of soreness is expanding further from the incision. Is this normal? Could I already be having a reaction to the port? Or could it be just because there is a strange object in my body and this is the way it is accepting it? Any help would be greatly apprecaited....
  4. I went to seminars with both Dr's. I meet with both of them and talked to different patients of both Dr's. I liked Dr. Voellinger the best and that is I went with. It was truely just my personal opinion and who I felt the most comfortable with. I don't want people to think I don't like Dr. Bauman, I just don't think he would have been the right choice for me. Thanks for asking...
  5. I just had mine on Monday (6/13) and I am feeling your pain. (I told my mom today I think the Dr "OD"ed me on the gas.) haha. I to got sick the night after surgery. I have walked as much as possible and today is my best day. Hang in there....it will all be worth...at least that is what I keep telling myself.
  6. Hello, I was told I needed to come out and introduce myself. I am a 31 year old mother of 1 (2 yr old boy) and very loving and supporting husband. We live in Concord, (right outside of Charlotte, NC) I started over a year and half ago looking into the band. I knew gastric was not for me and I wanted and needed help. So a friend told me about the lap band. From then I started looking into it with my husband by my side. He has been a wonderful support along with my mom. I have been reading this board for a while now and was encourged even more to get out and look at it from my Dr's office. this site has been very helpful and informative. Thanks to who ever started it. I feel with this support my new life is just around the corner. Unlike alot of people out there, my insurance approved me within 3 days of receiving the paperwork. So I am very happy with them. Thanks UHC... So that where I am in a nut shell 4 days post op and ready to start my new life...well if I just get rid of the gas pressure and pain. Which I know will go away with time. I look forward to learning a lot more and meeting alot of new friends... Thanks First weigh in 316 Day of surgery 301.8 Goal...I am not sure just but I want to start with at least 100 pounds at a time.
  7. Hello, I am from Charlotte as well. I was banded Monday (6/13/05) and would love to have friends to talk to. Dr Voellinger did my surgery at Presbyterian and it went great. Hope to hear from you soon. I am so ready to begin this new life for me.

I was just banded Monday June 13th, my insurance is with UHC and I didn't have one problem. Actually I called 3 days after I knew they were sent the paperwork and they had already approved it. I am so sorry you are having problems. No my doctor made me go through a lot of test and even write a letter of my weight loss history. I don't know what all is was sent to them but I was actually surprised at the turn around. There was acutally another co-worker that had by-pass and she was also approved in 3 days. Good Luck!!!
  9. I am on the liquid diet prior to surgery and I love the Unjury..it's smooth and taste like a Wendys frosty. Wonderful. I use the CIB in the morning and unjury in the afternoons.
