    6 months out..weird breathing issue?

Sounds unlikely the intubation tube could have caused an onset this far out. Really it sounds like COPD asthma. Usually weight loss helps but perhaps it was the opposite for you. Go get a script for albuterol or some sort of inhaler. The next time you have shortness of breath if the inhaler helps then you probably have COPD. Consult your doctor though. Inhalers are a steroid and could give a false positive result. But if it helps and you only need it as needed then it's probably fine.

    Acne

Most of the stores sell crappy products. You should try some dermalogica. But make sure you see an esthetician first. Some products help with oily skin while others are for normal or dry skin. You probably need a good cleanser, toner, moisturizer and some low glycolic acid product. But DO NOT just ask a clerk what they recommend. You need a professional to advise you. The breakouts could be a number of things but diet is the most important cause of breakouts. You should also try a different shampoo. If you are getting comodones (the little bumps) try washing your hair so the shampoo and conditioner don't run off into your face. Just tilt you head back and let the shampoo run down your back instead of your face. Of your face clears up and you get bumps behind your ears and neck you have crappy products. Antibiotics might help for a time but the acne just comes back and you cant take antibiotics forever.

    Hives

The B12 is important. Perhaps when you feel better you can take one liquid dose rather than a shot and see how you react. I know how you feel though. I would be scared to death if I had to go to the emergency room for hives.

    Gas pains in chest

I had Gas pain for the first 2 weeks. I quickly found out a lot of my problems were a result of calcium chews. I haven't tried calcium only Suppliments since I figured it out. I am terrified of how it made me feel. But I know I need calcium in addition to my multi vitamin

Those are just fantastic results. What a positive attitude you have. Good job.

    Heartburn

What type of heartburn medication are your taking? Prilosec or something else?
  9. The transformation its unreal. Such a good job here. You should be very proud.
  10. Are you taking calcium? I had horrible nausea until I stopped talking the calcium supplements. I am pretty sure I need some sort of calcium other than my multi vitamin but it was so bad I was curled up in bed all day. Within 1 day of stopping the calcium I felt 90% better.

    nausea

Looks like it was the Calcium causing the nausea. I stopped 2 days ago and have had no issues. Now I am just worried about consuming enough calcium.

    leg cramps...help

Cramping is 100% insufficient hydration. You need more water quickly.
  13. From what I have seen the protein is far more important than anything else. I would focus solely on meeting your protein goal which is hard enough. The calories will take care off them selves

    Mental Challenges!

PPI is an anti reflux and heartburn medication. Prilosec or it's generic is probably the most common. If you have stomach acid coming up and burning your throat while your sleep, or nausea, you should probably buy some prilosec from your drug store. If you take it every day it's cheaper to have your Doctor write a prescription for the generic.

    Mental Challenges!

I can't stop thinking about fast food. I walk past a Del taco everyday and I just think about having something. I know if I did I wouldn't just regret it but I would be back in the hospital. The thought of another surgery is helpful to address the cravings. But strangely enough, instead of running out of the room when a food commercial comes on, I started watching the food network. I know this sounds dumb but it really helped me. This is definitely TMI but I related it to watching porn. You know your aren't going to have whatever is going on the TV but you can still enjoy it. Not sure this makes sense but it helped me somehow.

    nausea

Interesting suggestions. I think I need to pay closer attention to temperature and hydration. I have tried chicken broth a few times but I don't recall if it settled my stomach. I usually drink cold liquids.
  17. I am experimenting with how much Water my sleeve can handle. I swallowed about 4 oz in 5 minutes today and was extremely happy. Get liquids down is a task pain. If I could drink larger quantities I could hit all of my goals. But I am concerned I might be stretching my gut. I wish there was a way to see how quickly the liquid moves from sleeve to intestines.

    Bari Life?

Doesn't look like its available for purchase anywhere other than through Their website. It looks like a good product but I don't feel like spending $32 to try something out.

    Late Night Walks Anyone?

I try to walk when I start to feel nausea. The movement really helps move the gas through. I am not able to pinpoint if something I am eating is causing excessive gas or if it's just normal after surgery. Either way it sucks. I found that eating and drinking while I stand or pace around helps. I am a little leery of taking gas pills since the chemical reaction has to occur and I don't know how it will manifest if no gas is created.

    Fiber?

Good information Buffle. My wife uses the equate stuff. I will just steal some from her.
  21. What is the consensus on Fiber? Take or don't take? How much if you are taking it? How often are you going to the bathroom with it without fiber?
  22. I agree putting them in the freezer is the ticket. I just tried it for the first time right now and it was like drinking a chocolate shake. I used premier protein.

    UHC issues

Oh, I forgot to mention that my first denial in November was because the facility requested was not a COE (center of excellence). Turned out my surgeon actually had privileges at the COE in Irvine California, so I didn't have to change surgeons. Make sure you're requested surgery center is a COE.

    UHC issues

Cybergirl, I also have UHC and it literally sounds exactly like what I went through. I even wonder if you had the same bariatric resource lady I did? Was her name Felicia (but she pronounces it Feeleseeia)? I started the approval process on September 20th 2013. I jumped through hoop after hoop finding out each time there was 1 thing I didn't do or was required to do. It was so discouraging. The biggest problem I found was completing the bariatric resource lady's stupid requirements. They basically cancel your enrollment if you missed something and you have to stay all over again. Unlike you I had no 3 or 6 month weight program requirement. The only requirements I had were from my surgeons office. I first I got in, December or January, a call from this Felicia woman who identified herself as an RN with the stone group that sounded like a scam. The next thing she asked was for my suicidal security #. I had no idea who she was and it wasn't like she called right after I had done something bariatric"y". So I basically told her to piss off I wasn't giving her my SS#. A month later I called UHC and they told me I was denied because I had not enrolled in the program. I had to talk to 3 different people before they transferred me to the bariatric dept (all 3 people were very friendly though). Of course I got the VM of that Felicia woman and I realized what I had done. I cursed myself but I felt I did the right thing by not giving my SS to a total stranger. It took forever for Felicia to call me back and when she did it was so early in the morning I would miss the call. This went on for a week. Back and forth until we finally scheduled a meeting over the phone. Needless to say she was cold as ICE. She also refused to give me any information on how to get UHC to approve the surgery. This was all back in February. My favorite part of our conversations was when she would tell me that if I didn't get approved within 30 days she had to drop me from the program. End of Feb I submitted a dispute to my earlier denial. I called after 5 days and they told me the process could take up to 8 weeks. I was heart broken. I really didn't want to deal with this woman anymore. After checking back constantly I found some nice lady at the UHC dept that said "I really can't give our this information but in the past I have seen the dispute claims denied. But a NEW approval submission like in your case get approved" I just about pooped my pants with happiness. I called my surgeons office (they had been great throughout the whole process) and gave them the news. They expedited the new request and within 14 days I had my approval. Once I was approved calls started flooding in from UHC. Everyone I spoke with was wonderful and helpful. I still can't believe how much support they provide. I haven't received a bill as of yet. So I am on pins and needles. But I have to say once approved I really felt like UHC had my best interests at heart. So basically this bariatric woman is the Guardian at the gate. If you can get past her it's smooth sailing on it. It's also possible she is just a mean spirited woman and anyone else would have been helpful. So my thought would be to have your surgeon submit an entirely new claim. See how that goes.
