    Liquid sleep aid?

I have taken ambien for the past 2 years to get to sleep. The day after surgery I took up where I left off. I usually put it under my tongue to dissolve. The taste isn't bad unless you move your tongue about a bit. It takes abot 15 to 20 minutes to completely dissolve. Obviously this is not a liquid but it should suffice for your needs.

    Update 2

Matt this is just amazing. i hope you float like a butterfly and sting like a bee on that court.

    Noob...

I am not sure this is going to be a huge problem. After surgery you may/will fall victim to a coke and it will be so uncomfortable you will be instantly cured of you fiendish ways. That being said, is it the carbonation you crave or the sugar? Carbonation cant be helped, but there are a number of artificial sweetners you can mix into liquids. You can also get a soda stream machine and not use the carbonation feature. It may trick your mind enough.
  4. I was told the eventually my sleeve would expand to 8 to 12 oz. So getting a full 8 oz cup in is going to be seriously challenging for at least a few years if it it ever happens. If you can throw down a full cup then it would have to be getting pushed down by liquids. Ask you NUT again. Its possible there was some confusion.

    Bathroom?

It happens to just about everyone. But it sure a sh1t (pun intended) isnt normal. take some clear soluble Fiber and keep doing the stool softner. I wasny doing either and went a week and a half without a bowel movement. When I finally went it was seriously painful and abnormally large. It really made me scared to eat or go again.

  7. Mind if I join your ladies club @@matt1912? I was sleeved on April 25th. Starting weight was 290. Last week was 229. Today is weigh in day (I only jump on my old nemesis, the scale every Friday).

    Down to 214

Excellent progress. What's your total weight loss?
  9. I can't seem to figure out how to use my little ninja to blend drinks without intruding copious amounts of froth which fills my sleeve too quickly. The ninja only has the single speed so perhaps the other blenders night work better.
  10. You sure this isn't just a side effect of the anesthesia?
  11. Linkin, What sort of workouts are you doing? Cardio shouldn't really increase your appetite that much. But weight lifting would leave your body craving substantial amounts of Protein and carbs. meat would definitely curb your hunger. Everyone is different, but 8oz of lean protein steak sounds reasonable as long as your sleeve tolerated and slowed the consumption.
  12. What if you suck on ice chips? It should slow the liquid going down your throat. Bloody Water coming back up doesn't sound good but you're IV drip should keep you hydrated.

    Protein on the go

You can bring a shaker bottle with a scoop of Protein powder in a little bag. Keep the powder in the shaker. And break in case of emergency. You can always find Water to mix the shake. I carry an insulated lunch bag with one of those cold packs. I keep string cheese, baby bell light cheese rounds, a Protein Bar, forks, spoons, yogurt and a premixed shake. It's great for storing your lunch if you have meats or something you want to heat up.
  14. The 4 or 6 oz ramikins from bed bath and beyond are so perfect for us. Easy to weigh, store, cook or measure. They are really cheap, about $1.49 for the 4oz and $1.99 for the 6 oz. I ordered 24 and use a few a day.

First day at the gym and I passed out!

We went over my food and liquid intake. He took my blood pressure and concluded it was postural hypertension. He Said I need to keep supper hydrated and not bend over until I felt the dizziness subside. He wasn't overly concerned.
  17. Cut out fast food all together now and start on fewer grams of sugar. Have your favorite last meal at least one month in advance and enjoy the hell out of it. Say good bye to that food and plan on never eating it again. Don't over purchase any one food or liquid item (you are going to get sick of things very quickly). Test out at least 25 different sources of Protein you intend to incorporate into each stage. You should have a wide variety of options. You want to know how these items will effect your body before you go into surgery. You may experience some allergies you weren't previously aware of. Buy a food scale and measuring cups. Get some liquid containers and start getting used to carrying around plenty of Water. Practice eating slowly and drinking liquid 30 minutes before and after. Don't weigh yourself more than once a week. Have support at home from someone. Doesn't have to be a spouse but that helps.

First day at the gym and I passed out!

Quick update... I went to the gym again today for weight training. I drank and ate a lot the day before and had some carbs for Breakfast so I would have some quick fuel to burn. I set some good boundaries with the trainer and kept them. I got a good upper body workout and about 45 minutes of good bike work. The best news... I didn't pass out. ????

    Taking whole pills

I had trouble with chewables. They just tasted too much like chalk. The horse pills weren't something I could handle even before surgery. Last week someone told me about gummy Vitamins. They are amazing and taste great. My only concern with them is the sugar content. 3 grams per serving, but I have to weigh that against not taking a Vitamin.

    Full too fast?

Your surgeon probably did a perfect job. Liquid goes through much faster than food. If you can chug Water that's amazing because one of the hardest things to do post op is get to 64oz of fluids. You are lucky.

    Hungry?

Interesting question here. Got me thinking about my food consumption and choices.

    Food comercials!

People complain about how the marketing for beer and liquor are embellished and use sex to sell a product. Well those people must not be watching food ads. You don't need sex to sell burgers, despite what Carl's Jr. Believes.

When were u cleared for exercise?

My doc cleared me for strenuously exercise on week 7. I did pass out on my first day but I am not sure it was a hydration and starvation problem.

    Stupid weight loss advice

Here is a roll reversal. I told someone here that I enjoyed watch the food network 2 weeks post surgery. I said it was like watching porn. It was a great thing for me, but in retrospect it might not have been a universal solution for the masses.
