Was sleeved on June 24. Never had heartburn or acid and I do now. Doc says it usually lasts small amount of time maybe 30 days. I take omeprazole once a day and it's tolerable
Doc said if I had regular heartburn he would do a bypass. But i never had it ore surgery

So this is the quote I found under the revisions section of the Policy for Surgery for Morbid Obesity section of BCBS NC dated 7-15-2014: "Requirement that patient be an active participant in non-surgical weight reduction program for at least 6 months prior to surgery removed."
How exciting is that. If that means I don't have to finish out my PCP visits, then I'm on track to finish my pre-op tests and submit to the insurance sometime in August or early September.

No snacking, no carbs, up the Protein (you eat it first and until you can't eat any more - no chips/fries/crap/junk), up the Water, move more.
I am a slow loser, too, but then, I was a relatively lower BMI to start and I have PCOS.
If you know you're straying from the path.. get back on the path and commit to it. It will work - promise.
    Best of luck

tndfamily reacted to James Marusek in Question about being "finished" with weight loss
On one visit with the nutritionist, she told me that I was within 5% of bottom. On the next visit after losing another 10%, she told me that I was at bottom and that if I lost any more weight to contact her immediately. So I figured that was it and moved from the weight loss phase to the maintenance phase. In the maintenance phase, I was able to add a few more calories to my diet. I have a weight scale that measures my weight in 0.2 pound increments. For the past 6 months, I have been able to maintain my weight between 160.0 and 162.0 pounds (my bottom).
I still have fat on my body. It is primarily below the belt. Which leaves my body somewhat distorted. I just don't worry about it. I had the surgery to drive many of my health problems into remission, not to look wonderful. But on the other side, I am now able to wear great clothes, so I am happy.

I've lost 115 pounds and now weigh 118. But I'm only 4'11" - 5' tall (depends on the person measuring, Lol). I'm at the very high end of what I should weigh for my height and my bmi is BARELY in the normal range. I have a pot belly that is more than just skin, and some love handles left. I still can't fit into the leather coat that I wore before my first pregnancy 28 years ago. People who have only ever known me as a fat person say I look anorexic - I don't - and they say I should stop losing. They say I look sick and bony. Again, I don't. I look okay for a 55 yrs old woman who used to be fat, but I don't look like I should for my small stature. I still feel fat, but only a little.
I can live with it. I'm healthier than I have been in YEARS, and I feel amazing. I have energy, I can wear pretty clothes, I may just enjoy a summer for the first time ever (at least I'll be warm), and I get to live life instead of watch it from the sidelines.
Try to focus on the positive changes in your life. You may be able to make the changes you want in your body, or you may not. Try to learn to be content w/your success (because you have been successful!!!) and learn to love yourself the way you are. Don't focus on visible 'flaws' but on enjoying yourself, doing things you couldn't do before and living life. Unhappiness will sabotage your well-being! :-)

Oh yes I am looking forward to wearing a bathing suit with no heat rash on my thighs ... Wearing winter clothes in winter instead of sweating in summer clothes in February .... Guess I might have to own a coat again. :-)

Thought I'd take a stab at spinning this in another direction - I'm looking forward to buying regular sized clothing and having more options. I'm looking forward to less pain and better health. I am loving tasting my food again and not just eating to fill a void. I'm excited to be moving forward with life and making better choices for myself.

I was sooo sad to hear of John Pinette's passing. He was working on getting healthier. Only saw him once at a comedy club, what a funny and genuinely nice guy.

I love your thread. My surgery was 03/05 and I weighed 224. As of this morning, I am 199. Woot Hoot! As you can see, I am a slow loser too. I know if I drank more Water and exercised, I might also see the scale move a little faster. I pray that I never see 200 pounds again. Hopefully, losing slow will help us keep the weight off. Your threads give me the incentive to keep going. Thank you so much for sharing your journey!

The secret to chicken and turkey is to soften it up. You may not notice this prior to surgery but it will become a major issue after surgery. For example I take chicken breast and put it in a pot, add Water and one or more chicken flavored bouillon cubes. I bring this to a boil and then put the stove on low for a few hours, until the chicken is so tender that it falls apart. The bouillon cubes adds plenty of flavor to the chicken.
Since you are interested in Soup recipes. I have included some recipes in my article How I Survived Bariatric Surgery available at http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf

Thats a great idea Chez to catch up with mates and enjoy yourself and surround your life with positive things.....I did all of that and I was the same as you....teary and I also worried all the time, but there was a turning point after I spoke to my surgeon and I was like....LETS DO THIS!!!!
In a few months time you will look back and wonder what all the worry and tears were for.
I was tired of being tired too....I fully understand!!!!
Just think how fantastic this summer will be
I can't wait to go through a Summer where the heat wont make me melt and not cope and I can get out and enjoy life.
My aim is to be in the double figures by mid Spring.......hope I can do it. ((in kg that is not pounds))
Just waiting on the all clear to go to the gym.
Hopefully I will get that on my 4 month post check up.
I know I can walk etc now but I want to get back into the heavy stuff to help it come off more

I am NOT going to miss just starting to feel good, seeing a change on the scale and feeling my clothes get looser, then catching a glimpse of myself in a mirror or window and realizing how much more needs to come off.
