  1. I usually eat every couple of hours but I make sure I have more protein, especially for snacks. Protein and exercise are the key. If I don't have both of these then I don't lose weight. I eat the lowest carb yogurt, protein bars, protein shakes, chicken, pork, cheese sticks. Keep the carbohydrates as low as possible. There is alos a good low carb, high protein cereal you can buy from netrition.com.

    Fruits and veggies post op

My doctor said at 3 months out I can add very small portions of fruit and vegs. They want you to get mostly protein in.

    Insurance Denied

I have Humana Medical Insurance and it would not cover my sleeve surgery, although they said it would cover my husband because he is the employee but not any family on his plan would be covered. That is the most ridiculous thing! I ended up having my surgery 4/2014 and financing over $13,000. I am diabetic and have heart disease in my family which would make sense to me that the insurance company would cover considering the possible health problems I could get. Anyone else had a problem like this with insurance?
  4. Eating some Artic Zero frozen dessert. Has anyone tried it? It's not bad for 150 cal in a pint!

Just curious... do you know why your insurance company denied approval after appeal... if you feel like sharing.

My husband carries the insurance from his job and they said they only cover the employee for bariatric surgery and not the family. Never heard of such nonsense!!

I guess the insurance can have whatever rules they want to... sorry to hear that.

    Anyone here have a Nutribullet?

I would use Protein powder with some almond milk, ice and sweetner. My nutritionist said no veg and fruit until 3 months out and then only a tiny bit. U can add some low calorie ice cream to make it creamy.

  12. I don't eat much fruit, if so it should be a couple tablespoons. You need to stick to protein and you won't need much fruit. If you really want the flavor then look for a low carb banana flavored protein powder and mix it with almond milk.
  13. I was wondering if those who have diabetes have seen any changes since their surgery. I have had diabetes for almost 25 years (insulin) and wondering if I will be able to reduce It or get off insulin once I reach my goal. Has anyone been taken off their meds or drastically reduced their insulin?

    Understanding...

You should explain to them how you don't want to lose and regain anymore. You want something permanently helping you to lose and keep it off. Also, the sleeve is beneficial because some of the hunger hormones are removed so u may not feel as hungry as you used to. Some people may never understand but don't let it get you down.
  15. I am three weeks out and on pureed foods. I will move up to mushy foods next week. I am wondering what are some of the favorite things ya'll ate and if you have any recipes so I can have more of a variety. So far I have been having my shakes (Isopure no carb), sugar free flavored water and any kinds of soups and canned meats to pureed, along with sugar free ice cream, pudding, jello and popsicles.

    Hardest thing for you?

I am still on liquids but I think so far the hardest part was giving up coffee. Now that I haven't had it it doesn't bother me as much. At least the headaches have ceased. I know once I am eating solids again I will have problems choosing the right foods to eat and the no drinking before and after meals!
