I know I am worth it! I paid for my lapband, all my plastics (tummy tuck, breast lift with implants, thigh lift and lipo), revision from band to bypass.. And I can say I would do it all again except for the band. It was worth every single penny. I had it all done here in Connecticut so paid quite a bit (I was not comfortable going out of U.S.) but I am sooo happy with the choices I made. There is no greater satisfaction for me than when I am naked in front of my husband. We have been married for 23 years and he has seen me at 305 pounds and he has seen me thin. The confidence to strut around naked after plastics was worth every penny we spent. So yes I am worth it! So are all of you!

I had ground beef and no problems I just out some reduced sugar ketchup on it.

I have EDYs no sugar added mint Choco chip. It's very low in sugar and a tablespoon is enough to satisfy my ice cream wants..

I originally had a lap band, and now have a sleeve as of earlier this month. I had severe complications with my band and eventually had to have it removed. Toward the end, there wasn't a single day I didn't throw up.
I didn't know it at the time, but the lap band has a very high complication rate and many doctors have stopped doing it all together.
It's a personally preference, and there is a chance that you will be one of the lucky ones to not have complications with the band, but maybe not.
On my way! Thing you might want to consider is that many insurance companies will only pay for one wl surgery per lifetime. Why would you want a surgery that's reversible?

I was banded in June of 2008 starting weight 305. Got down to 163 in 9 months.. Had all my plastic surgery done (tummy tuck, breast lift with augmentation, thigh lift and advanced lipo). Stayed under 185 until I had to have a complete hysterectomy in October 2013. Menopause and my band were enemies. I began throwing up constantly, kept having to get unfills to no relief and had to have all the Fluid out.. Then my doc told me most bands were failing after 5 years.. So between oct and may I went from 185 to 245 eeek! I had my band removed and bypass done at the same time on May 21, 2014. I am currently 222. This time weight loss has been much slower but it's amazing the things I can eat now I couldn't with the band. I love feeling full with out feeling like I swallowed a golf ball. Hoping the weight loss speeds back up so I can fit in all the clothes hanging in my closet...

I eat dried edamame, mozzarella sticks, beef Jerky, Premier Protein crisp bars (satisfies my sweet tooth), a tsp of peanut butter.. Just some ideas..

My husband and I will Celebrate our 35th anniversary in July. I was small when we married and didn't gain weight till after I had children. He has loved me this long and can't see it changing. He is so proud of me and tells everyone how hard I work at getting healthy. I believe we will be just fine when I get to the goal line. I can see where things might be different in younger couples where people are getting a lot of attention that they didn't get before. The temptation can be overwhelming for some and with the ease of meeting people on line, the possibility of being attracted to somebody else becomes more possible. For us older and settled folks, the temptation for romance is not as great and I think we are more into being healthy, looking good, and being able to be active.

It made my marriage even stronger.. I think if you love each other.. Really love each other before surgery you will be fine.. If you married someone you "settled" for, losing weight can make you reevaluate. We have been married 23&1/2 amazing years. He loved me thick and he's loved me thin. Our marriage has always been awesome but my confidence in myself with losing weight has just added to the marriage.

Hi Everyone!
We are ON for the first Bariatric Pal Support Group - New London County (Norwich, Groton, New London) meeting tonight! We're meeting at the Otis Library in Norwich, 261 Main Street, Norwich, CT 06360. We'll be in the Meeting Room on the 2nd floor (there's an elevator if desired). There is some street parking, and some parking behind the building, and parking lots across the street from the library.
I look forward to seeing all interested parties there! I'll have an icebreaker activity for us, get everyone a schedule of upcoming meeting dates (which I will also post here) and we'll "take the pulse" of the group to find out what types of subjects people are interested in, what kind of resources would be helpful, etc.
