  1. My surgeon is Dr. Richards also. So happy to hear from someone who has the same surgeon. Do you go to the support groups? I am glad to hear that your surgery went well.
  2. I am pre - op also. Today I had my 5th nutritional visit. Only one more and I should find out my surgery day. Should be in mid September. So far i have lost 12 lbs. 3 more lbs to hit my goal before surgery. I chose not to tell anyone but my husband and kids and a couple of close friends. I have received lots of negativity, and I sure don't need that with all the emotions that are going on. I am so glad you joined us. Everyone here is so helpful and nice. Good luck with everything.
  3. Wondering the same thing
  4. Welcome to the group. You will find this group very helpful as you go through this journey. I am having my surgery in October also. So many emotions going on. If you would like a buddy, I am here for you. God bless
  5. Anyone have a homemade chicken broth Recipe to use after gastric bypass? I wanted to stay away from the canned stuff because of the amount of sodium. Would you still get the protein from the broth or could you add unjury protein powder to bump up the protein. When would you add the protein powder? When you cook it or once it is prepaired?
  6. That sounds like a great idea. I would love to have a copy of your list if you don't mind sharing. michelle.waldrep@yahoo.com.
  7. My goal will be 60-65 grams of protein a day. That's what my surgeon set for me. I am not sure on how much is too much.
  8. Have you sent out the list for July?
  9. Thank you. I feel now that it is possible. I thought it was for the rest of my life, but now I know it is only for a short time while I am healing. Right? My husband mentioned getting one of the back pack Water bottles while we are outside. I am having my surgery in October, so it should be cooler.
  10. I am sorry to hear that. I hope you are feeling better now.
  11. My family went to quite a few yard sales this weekend and I got so hot that I just chugged my water bottle down in like less than five minutes. Then I thought...I won't be able to do this once I have the surgery. I've always been a big chugger. Am I going to feel hydrated by just sipping?
  12. I was wondering the same thing. This is a great schedule to go by. Thanks
  13. Where did you get this from?
  14. Congrats! I bet that is a wonderful feeling. I have lots of clothing that I cannot wait to get back into. I know this sounds silly but I still have the outfit that I wore on mine and my husbands first date 15 years ago. That is my motivation. I am getting back into that outfit. I am currently a size 5X. The outfit is a size 10. Maybe next summer?
  15. Hang in there. It will be here before you know it. Did they tell you how long it would take them to approve and get back with you?
  16. I am looking forward to the day that I can go to SixFlags. The last time I went, of course you have to wait an hour to ride a ride, when it was finally our turn, the seat belt didn't click either, my daughter and I had to get up and leave. I was humiliated. everyone staring and wondering what was going on. I went straight to the bathroom and cried. Next summer I should be able to go back. I am so glad you had fun. Congrats on your weight loss.
  17. That sounds like a great idea. Thanks
  18. I would really like to have some thought on this because I am having my surgery around my birthday and I need a better way for my family to celebrate instead if burgers and chocolate cake.
  19. This is a great idea. Add me please. michelle.waldrep@yahoo.com.Thanks
  20. I feel the same way. I haven't told anyone but my husband and kids but I feel like I talk about it too much. I hope it's not too much. But it's exciting and you have to talk to someone about it or you'll bust. I am having weird thoughts like you also. Just stay positive and we will be healthy before we know it. Just imagine what you will look and feel like a year from now. Amazing! Good luck in all you do. Just remember to smile and think positive.
  21. Wow! You look amazing. Congrats on the weight loss and congrats on your pregnancy. Very exciting.
  22. Thank you. I hope you had a great fishing trip.
  23. I am currently a Certified Medical Assistant. I did really well in collage and graduated with honors. When I went to extern, I fell in love with helping people more than ever. After graduation, I knew I would get a job right away. I went to several wonderful interviews. But No one ever called me back. During my last interview I had the interviewer tell me that I had all the qualifications for the job, that I would be great for the job, but my weight was an issue. That they wanted a thinner nurse to see their patients. As soon as I got out of her sight, I was in tears. (Can they really say that? Couldn't they come up with a different reason?) I know I am an awesome nurse. I love people. I love making people feel good. And most of all I have the knowledge to take care of people to make them feel better. Maybe once I have my surgery, someone will hire the skinner me. Because I worked really hard and love what I am.
  24. I haven't received it yet either. Everyone wants their hands on a copy. Please send it to me. Thanks Michelle.waldrep@yahoo.com
