    I am banded

Well, I'm glad you all aren't feeling hungry, but I'm starving. I so desperately want to chew something. I am sooooo sick of liquids I could scream. Psychological? Maybe, but I'm just plain hungry. The only solice I get is chewing my Viactiv to liquid form. Monday I get pureed food- yum yum. You gotta love baby food.
  2. I've heard Dr. Jawad is pretty good. My cousins maid had gastric done there--pretty sure. Good luck with the insurance. I'll be over your way on Friday--headed to Hillsborough state park north of Tampa. I haven't heard of any unreputable lap Dr.s in Florida. I was number 113 by Fusco in Melbourne. All went great!! Loving it so far!

    What's your July 4th plans?

We're going camping to Hillsborough State Park in Florida. It looks beautiful- tons of rapids and nature trails. I'm not looking forward to still being on liquids though. Anything dairy is making me immediately sick- anyone else? Not vomiting though. I've tried to upload pics, but I can't figure it out- any help? By-the-way, nursing is going great. Thanks to all for the support!!!!

    I'm finally banded!!!

Well, I am an official bandster. Yeah!!! I feel a little tightness in my upper stomach. Other than that I feel good. I'm not full full. I feel like I could eat is food was in front of me. That is a bit disappointing. Did anyone else feel this way. The liquid Loratab is a wonderful thing. Just love those clear liquids. Luckily my husbands mother made me delicious home made chicken broth. I've been trying to walk and get those shoulder pains out. That is so bizzare. What type of full signs are felt once on food?

    I'm finally banded!!!

I feel okay, just a bit tight in the upper stomach. Loratab does the trick for that though. I can start nursing again tomorrow morning. Hopefully I wont dry up. Catalyna is taking the bottle just fine. My poor mom had to get up with her last night. She said she got about 2 hours of sleep. LOL---welcome to my world. Riverrat: I love to boat and jet ski, and I grew up living on the river. I weighed myself this morning, and I've gained two pounds. I hope that is just from the excess gasses. Does the cravings for yummy foods go away?

Let me know if you are coming to town. Perhaps we can get together and let the kids play. I have a 4 1/2 year old boy and a 3 month baby.

    DeLarla's Weekly Fun Thread

I used to shoot myself with HCG everyday. Didn't do a thing to make me lose wieght, but I did get pregnant. Come to find out they use them for infertility treatments. Turned out to be the best diet ever!!

Going To Be Bitter Sweet Weekend For Me

I will keep all of you in my prayers. Always turn your troubles to the Lord- He is listening, and He always does what He feels is right. Just be strong and laugh a lot. Always better to laugh than cry.

    breastfeeding while banded

I'm wondereing what you all think of nursing while having a band. I spoke with my Dr. who said it was okay. He said the body produces its own glucose and my body will regulate itself. He said if my body wasn't getting enough nutrients, that my milk will dry up. But, I spoke with the nutritionist who thinks it's a bad idea. She says it takes approx. 400 calories to nurse and I would be depriving my own body of the proper nutrients. Any thoughts? I'm getting banded in 2 weeks.
  11. I'm scheduled for the 20th and nervous as can be. I'm starting to have muscle pains in my lower abdominal from a c-section 3 months ago. Do you think I should mention to Dr. I asked OB , she said it's just from the muscle being cut. I don't understand why it hasn't hurt for about a month and now has started again. It could have something to do with picking up my son, Dylan (50lb) all the time huh. I would hate for my surgery to be put off. How long was your recovery time?? Any regrets?? Fear of regaining?? Slipage? What in the heck is PB?? How often are you vomiting? Any hair loss??

    Scared about surgery and aftermath.

Thank you for the replies. I definetly feel better. My c-section pain is not all the time, just every once in a while. My friends aunt had her band done in Mexico 2 days ago. She said she feels good, but her stomach feels like there is a blood pressure cuff on her. Does that feeling go away- the tightness? When you had to have your band repositioned, did they recharge you the full amount of surgery? Thanks for the info on PB. Yesterday my mom said to me, "Don't get too skinny". I thought I would love to be too skinny-lol. Just to have someone say I'm too skinny- that's my goal. Although I think after knowing me overweight my whole life, I'll probally look too skinny at around 150. I hope!!

I certainly hope I don't have ear problems. I'm glad you didn't, and I'm sorry to hear of your accident. I hope everything is okay now. I have definetly considered that my milk production may stop altogether. I'm just going to keep nursing until the surgery to give her 12 weeks worth. I know she'll be fine regardless. I certainly know numerous people who weren't nursed and they are just fine. Thank you for your input. I'm starting to get nervous about the surgery. At first I was so psyched, but I feel like the more I am reading of bandsters, the more discouraged at success I feel. I'm worried that I will fail at this too like everthing else I've tried. Can I eat the proper way the rest of my life. I've been reading about people gaining weight and being stuck and having to exercise constantly. This makes me nervous. I'd like to think I have the will power to do all of this; but if I did, I certainly wouldn't need the surgery. Any advise???? I so desperately want to be thin, but just can't imagine. I so easily remember as a child playing the game hungry hippos, and the kids saying hungry-hungry Heather. It still makes me want to cry. I remember when we had to run in gym class faking that a rock hit my tooth so I couldn't run. Looking back makes me laugh, like the teacher didn't fall for that one. I always hated that everyone would always look at the person I was with and not me. Atleast not in a good way. Anyways, enough whining on my part. Hopefully this will be the answer to my prayers and prayers and prayers!!!!

    Fake tan suggestions?

The best one I have found is the foam tanning by neutrogena. It works great and you can see it while you put it on. Make sure not to get any water on you for the rest of the day though, it will run or leave dots. If you use every other day for 3x, it will last for weeks--clorine and all. Be careful with spray on tans. I had one the day before I went on a cruise. Needless to say, I had to come home and wash it off immediately. I looked beyond black and splotchy. Make sure the person you go to has a lot of experience. Ask for a reference or two.

Well, I talked with the lactation consultant today. She also recommends the Domperidone. She said the FDA is always against hoistic, natural type remedies. She pretty much just reinforce the protein shakes. She definetly wasn't real helpful. I think you guys have been much more informative and intuitive than she was. So, Thank you!

Holy Cow! I looked up the website for domperidone. FDA warning against taking it while breastfeeding or not. They highly DO NOT recommend anyone taking this. Check out website.

What is Domperidome? I was hoping it is a wonderful wine. Probally no such luck huh-LOL. Cat does take a bottle. I've been giving her 1 to 2 a day of formula. Just in case all doesn't work out- she'll be prepared. She loves the bottle and the formula. She has a fit if I take her away to burp her. Must be some good stuff. My biggest fear with quitting nursing is that she'll have problems with ear infections later in life. I hear most bottle fed babies end up with ear problems (ie. needing tubes). Life is quite a bit easier with bottles during the day though. I love to nurse at night- it's just sooo easy- especially since she is still getting up every 2-3 hrs. yuck I never considered how it may hurt holding her to nurse for a while. Maybe the boppy will work. How long does it take for the tenderness at port area to go away? Do you have any cravings after surgery?

Thank you everyone for the wonderful replies. I am currently nursing my 10 week old Catalyna. I am definetly going to contact the lactation consultant to see what she thinks. I bought some ensure today. How much gatorade were you drinking a day. I am mainly worried about the first few days after surgery. From what I've read, it is hard to keep virtually any liquids in- due to feeling full. I'll be 12 weeks post at time of surgery. I hope I can keep nursing---I nursed my son for nine months. Everyone keeps telling me to postpone my surgery or just give her formula. There is NO way I can do that. Of course they are all a size 5 and never nursed. Once again thank you for all of the input, if you think of anything else please let me know.

    Any Self-pays Out There?

I am getting banded on June 20th by Dr. Fusco in Melbourne. The cost is $15,750. I also considered Mexico, but there is virtually NO doctors who will do follow up or fills at a reasonable price. There is a Dr. in Miami who does fills for $300-600. It's just not worth the savings to go to a strange place with no follow up care. Dr. Fusco is a board certified general surgeon who specializes in gastro. and studied at John Hopkins. My cousin is a nurse who highly recommends him. I also know several people who have had gallbladder surgery from him. Check out his website. Lifeshape.com
  24. Anyone who had surgery in Mexico. Were you able to find a local DR. to do fills in Florida. I haven't had any luck finding one who will. I'm in Brevard County.
