    Dating after Weight Loss Surgery

Many want a significant other, but have many reasons to not let one into their life. Hold me, dont touch me. I deal with people at work that also fall into this category, but on different issues. They will claim to really want something , but refuse to pay the price ( DO WHATS REQUIRED ON THEIR END) to have it.
  2. My Doc says leaks hurt a lot. You will know it compared to heart burn.

    Six Days Post Op

I has surgery on the the 28th. Feel about the same as you except its my right side incision that hurts. Constipation hasnt been an issue but diarea has been horrible at times. I am still working on fiinding my full level. I just finished about one serving of cream of chicken Soup and feel I over did it. It is hard for me not to finish my food once I start. For the second time I have put what I couldnt eat away for later. I feel I ate to much and will suffer for a little while. Next time I will measure out about a 1/2 a cup. However I can do a cup on a protien drink with no bad side effects. All food I have mixed with Water with the exception of pudding.

    Vegetarian or Vegan VSG ?

I was always under the impression that Vegeterians or Vegans had their weight under control. Most that I have known have always givien me the my body is a temple speech. Or that I am unethical because I enjoy tastey animals. Could it be both alternative diets substitute animal products with sugar and high carbos? Just curious not being judgemental. Being honest, I can fully understand the benifits to being a vegetarian, but the vegans I know drive me nuts and dont have a clue when it comes to the science behind nutrition. I personally know a Vegan that is forcing her dog to be one also. Luckly her mom sneaks the dog meat.
  6. I am also 5 days out. It is not all head hunger, my body is hungry. I have no problems with liquids in fact without thinking I chugged a ½ glass of water yesterday. No problems. I have moved on to creamed soups which are wonderful. However, I have yet to discover when my sleeve is full. I think because all of what I eat is liquid. Jello and Pudding kind of slow me down, but I am still very aware of not crossing the over full boundary. How do other deal with bowel movements. This has been my difficulty. I went to bed yesterday and while asleep I emptied my bowels, no warning nothing. Luckily, I did wake up fast enough to make sure nothing leaked into the mattress. Make me a bit paranoid of sleeping. In all my 54 years I have never had something like this happen to me.
  7. Eat low meat. Cant get more protien per volume. whey, eggs and soy are also great. Bariatric Advantage has a vegtable Soup that one serving is around 20 grams of protien. I find the soup better tasteing than the shakes , but they are both bland.

Day 5 my bandades have fallen off but the steri strips are still on. I was told no baths and they would just fall off when needed.

    I NEED EFFIN COFFEE!

I have been able to have 2 cups of coffee a day since day one. In fact, I am on day 5 and enjoying a very rich cup of Joe as I write this. Even has a splash of fat free in it.

    Milk products = no go

I am one of the lucky ones. Milk doesnt bother me. On day four after surgery I ahve no problems getting in my fluids or protein. I still have not found the limit to my sleeve. You might try fruit juices and pop cicles without added sugar. They go down easy.
  11. Did mine on the 28th . Could have done it without pain meds. Very little pain.

    Eggs

Can't wait until I can eat poached eggs.
  13. The rules for eating are simple. Follow then and the weight will come off. If you insist on bad food choices, welll you know what will happen. Belong to a support group and learn to cook the correct foods. Sure there will be road blocks , but others in a good support group will be able to help you though. This process is all about you, be selfish and do the right things. The positives are very good for your health.
  14. I can tell you that one day 3 post-op I am hungry but its a different kind of hungry. I cant wait to get back on a normal diet, but the foods you mentioned will be off the list. Protein first then veggies and fruit.
  15. I have noticed a trend, many people that post on this site either don’t like to cook or are to lazy to cook. Fast food created the medical necessity of this surgery in many cases. To get the most pay off from bariatric surgery I recommend to those that don’t cook to take some cooking classes. Also take the time to prepare your own meals. It's really not that hard or time consuming. Have some fun, go out and purchase a great set of pots and pans and knives. Stock that pantry with the best flavors you can find. Who cares about the cost you’re not eating that much anymore. In my case, my love for cooking helped get me into this mess of being overweight, but my knowledge will help me prepare great tasting food that is good for me and hits the nutritional goals. I have to face the fact that many of my old favorites are no longer in my diet, but I have already learned many new tricks pre-op to allow me to cook great food while throwing out the carbos and high fat ingredients. It’s actually makes cooking more interesting with the new challenges.
  16. I guess it depends on your docs orders. I got home yesterday and will be on a clear liquid diet for 3 days, through tomorrow. I have had no problems getting my liquids down. I started with Water then was given chicken stock which I really liked. However, on my first day home I think I OD'e on the salt in the stoke. Now I have switched to sugar free Jello, popcicles and fruit juice with no added sugar. Tea will be next. For first three days purchase, Stock Sugar free popcicles and jello fruit juice without added sugar Tea and possibley coffee. After three days I can have anything that will go through a straw for a couple of weeks. I look at that as anything I can run through a blender is fare game. Thing like canned soup pureed. I will not shop for those items until my menu changes. Many other posters do not recommend stocking up on anything until needed because ones tastes change. So far for me my tastes havent changed, but I am hungry.

    Cold feet!

As long as your in weight loss mode your shouldnt drink. Alcohol reduces an enzime in your body required to breakdown the fat you want to lose for 3 days. That's right one drinks significantly reduces your weight loss for 3 days. In essence, slows your weight loss down to half. Personally I dont think 20 year olds have enough experience in life to handle the mental pressure of bariatric surgery. I know I would not have for exactly what your concerned about, drinking. Good luck on your journey. Also leaving your comfort zone 3 days after surgery would not be my first choice.

    Chips & Salsa

How about celery or other veggies.
  20. Before having surgery, I felt it prudent not to tell many. I did not want uneducated commitary. It was scary enough to walk into the operating room just by reading the crap on this web page. Now that I am a fully fledged sleever as of yesterday. I am reconsidering telling more people. The surgery went very well. 10X better than I expected. There was nothing to be afraid of in my case. In fact, surgery is the easy part. The hard part will be the patients responcibility and following the deitay rules. But the reward is huge, better health and a longer life.

    You will be fine
  22. par1959

    OK ..,

A leap of faith can be scary. Having had surgery I can testify its not something to be scared about. Its great to educate ones self, but seriously spend less time on this site. I feel it makes one over think and adds fear. Thats myy opionion. In stead spend your time on selecting the best surgeon and staff. This has gone very well for me.
