    Cereal

Koshi go lean is good stuff with milk or in yogurt. I quit having it around because I liked it to much.
  2. Here you girls go. Make some money and tell all on national TV. Let me know when it airs. http://www.jerryspringertv.com/be-on-the-show

    Grocery Bill . . .

It costs about $80 a week for me to eat, that includes vitimins. I am sure I could cut that figure down it I wanted to down grade what I ate.
  4. I spent to much time and money and risked surgery to not follow the Docs instructions. The first couple of weeks weren't the best but tolerable. Once you get on squishy food it starts getting better. Then comes real food minus all the things things you use to enjoy. This is a life time commentment
  5. The only food I have had a problem with is apples. Water is my down fall only because I am addicted to coffee. I higly recommend a couple servings of fruit a day. Catelope is my go to. Sure you will exceed 60 carbs a day, but fruit is a complexed carb with lots of fiber. Make sure you know what a serving is, because its easy to go over on fruit. A great breakfast instead of a shake is about 5.5 oz of low cal flavored greek yogurt with either a 1/2 cup of bran or oatmeal. If you use oatmeal mix it in the night before. Its like candy but low cal, high in ficer and protein.
  6. Susan, Wasn’t this topic covered on an episode of Jerry Springer? As I remember, when the results came out the accuser wasn’t raped by the doctor, but had an affair with the doctor’s homeless brother that ended in pregnancy. Why let the truth get in the way of a good story?

    How they lure us...

The marketing at a theater to sell food is imazing.
  8. Wow, this thread has gotten out of hand in a day. Some seem to confuse word of mouth as firsthand knowledge. The fact remains if these adult women had consensual sex with this Doc no laws have been broken. Many that have used this Doc did not experience the alleged predatory behavior that Susan claims. My advices to men that work around women is always have a witness in site. I have known several male teachers who have lost their jobs or been jailed by this same type of innuendo. Shame on those that who perpetuate it.

    How many cabs/protein/fats ?

I have been trying to figure out the proper ratio. I do not know how you can get to 1200 cals with the numbers you quote unless you eat more fat. I can eat 80 grams of protien and 160 grams of carbos and still keep my daily total at 1000 cals. My carbos are all fresh fruit. Definatley going to addess this at my next support group meetng.

    Appetite supressant

This worked for me. I had to do a one week modified liquid diet before surgery. During this week I lost 22 lbs and wasn't that hungry. The meal plan was a follows: 3 Bariatric Advantage Protein shakes made with Water and one 350 to 400 cal meal. The trick was timing when to eat, eat slowly and eat the 400 cal meal for dinner. The meal consisted of about 5 OZ of the lean meat of your choice and a huge salad. I used 2 tbs of salad dressing at about 70 cals per on a quart of romane lettuce. Total daily cals did not exceed 900. I didnt have much of a problem sticking with it for 1 week.
  11. Get use to it. I was on an outing with friends the other day and the restraunt they chose because they could take their dog did not have anything I could eat. Luckly I had packed a small bag of cherries for a snack. Pizza parties at work are a real bummer too.

    Purée...how much?

Per my doc eat slowly until you feel satified. Although in the pureed stage, I was told not to worry about calories or protein, but make sure and get all my water in. Liquids went down easy for me from day one. I think I started with a 1/4 cut but it didnt take long until I could handle a 1/2 a cup. Keep in mind the diet really doesnt start until you can eat solids. Once there high cal liquids are taboo. I also found that creamed soups did not sit well. I did better on low sodium vegtable soups ran through the blender and greek yogurt.

    Before and After so far

A 100 pounds a year average or two pounds a week is great.

    Post op vitamins

I use bariatric advantage because my doc sells them. However, my doc has told me that I am welcome to shop for vitimins anywhere and suggested costco. Just compare lables and all is good.

    Scary stuff

Sure there are those that are not going to follow the eating rules after surgery just like there are those that have other eating disorders. I have had no problems getting the protein in with out shakes since week 2. But I do know people that have not had the surgery who dont get in enough protein.

    Chia seeds

You can use chia seeds. However, they arent as healthy as the heath nuts claim. Really not much there to hype.

    The Math Doesn't Add Up

Cowgirl Jane what is your input on eating fruit? I eat about two servings aday which adds carbs, but my calories per day is still in the 1000 to 1200 a day range. I know I am in a stall right now and not to worried about it. The reason I eat some fruit is to avoid low blood sugar levels which I have experienced twice since surgery 6 weeks ago. During weight loss our body coverts fat into carbs, it would be logical to think that low blood sugar wouldnt be an issue, but I am living proof it can be.

    Hi guys

Since I take breakfast and lunch to work my latest favorite has been greek yogurt with either oat meal or bran mixed into it. Its low cal and very filling. Using bran and Dannon yogurt the protein is 17 grams at about 160 cals. You could also add fruit to the mix. My other go to is 2 eggs micro waved with a wedge of laughing cow flavored cheese top with salsa. About 14 grams of protein and about 200 calories. Its very filling. You could also add veggies. Since I use the microwave spinach, tomatoes and onions would work well.

    Week 6: May 27-31st Sleevers

I see some what of a trend of dizzyness. This happened to me and I found it to be low blood sugar. This is why I eat 2 servings of fresh fruit everyday. Yes fruit has carbs but it also has lots of fiber. This has helped me cure the low blood sugar issue. I still have been religious about no alcohol and bad carbs such as bread, pasta and rice. I have also been dealing with gout which fruit such as cherries is recommended. If you start feeling dizzy or not well from low blood sugar a quick fix is some juice. This does not mean to start chugging juice but just a few onces will fix low blood sugar very quickly. Again, I now add fruit to my diet and have not had an issue with sugar levels.

    Week 6: May 27-31st Sleevers

I seem to be on a week 6 stall. Averaging 1000 to 1200 cals. per day. I have been getting all my Protein in through real food such as dairy and animal protein. Most of my calories come from carbs, but I have Greek yogurt and bran for Breakfast and two servings of whole fruit whick account for my total carb intake. Favorites being cantaloupe and cherries. I log what I eat on fit bit. Because of gout onset by the surgery it has been difficult to get exercise in, but the last few days I am back to 10K steps a day. I have been on a full multi Vitamin and Calcium regiment for about two weeks. I use Bariatric Advantage products per directions. Just weigh in and down a total of 47 lbs since the one week pre-op diet. Not too many complaints. Would like to lose faster and be able to eat an entire pizza at timeJ. I doubt I am alone . Favorite meal strong coffee several times a day.
  21. Join the club. I dropped 22 lbs within a week on the pre-op diet. At the time I thought to myself that," I didn’t need the surgery". Then I went back and wrote down the pluses and minuses of both surgery and weight loss and compared the results. In the long run, surgery was what was best for me. The next day, I had the surgery and was scared as hell. Six weeks out I still have some of them, “was this the right thing to do" thoughts, but I am down almost 50 lbs and I am off all medications. Those positives outweigh the tricks my mind likes to play. Weight loss with surgery is not easy, but in my case I am sure I have added 10 years to my life expectancy. I plan to enjoy each one of those years:)

    fluids

Like you my new go to drink since surgery is coffee. Coffe is a great appitite supressor. Before surgery I could ony drink one cup a day or I would not sleep at night. After surgery I can drink gallons of the strong stuff and sleep great. Weird. The bad side is one needs to drink the same amount of Water for each cup of coffee plus still get in 64 OZ of water each day. Because of this I keep water close by all day and when I think about coffee I drink my water first, then go have a cup. Its hard and I am not perfect.

    Bored, Bored, Bored

I think it gets better. Going on to week 6 I do miss comfort/social eating, but there is no way I can eat it. A 1/2 cup and I am full. It's differenent knowing that if you snack before dinner you not be able to eat dinner. Going back on topic it is times like this when I have to find things to do. My garage and guitar are my go tos's to prevent bordem. Walking is also a great distraction.
  24. At that point in my journey my Doc did not care about anything but getting my water in. Calories and protein did not matter. On day 4 after surgery I was allowed to consume basically anything that would go threw a straw. I enjoyed campbells vegatable soup ran through a blender and greek yogurt. I did not do well with creamed soups, but some people do. Get your water in and dont eat anything that might get caught in your brand new staple line was basicall my Doc's advise. The grass does get greener for you soon. I really enjoyed jumping into squishy and then solid food as permitted. Shakes are a thing of the past, although I never had a problem with them. The only food I have had an issue with are apples so far.

    Driving post op

I drove a car 3 days following surgery. I took me about 5 days before I felt comfortable riding my motorcycle. Got to let all the drugs purge.
