  1. There are various reasons or excuses. Personally, I have notice age has much to do with the questions asked. I read as much as possible and asked lots of questions before going under the knife. I would think any responcible person would. If one does the research they will find this surgery is not a cure all. They will also learn about the mental challenges during this process. To those that ask stupid questions, I say go for it. Nobody but yourself is going to stop you from taking ingorant actions after surgery. Another issue I notice is many on this site dont cook. Is this because you cant cook or their to lazy. Cooking isnt that difficult. If you need help go take a few classes. There is an interesting article in this months National Geographic on America's new obese hungry people. Bottom line everyone knows that fast food is bad for you, but they doent want to take the 35 minutes to perpare a meal. It's much easier to drive on down to Mc Donalds. Another interesting point is these same people can afford to feed their kids but all have a IPhones or so it seemed. I have a great job and do not see a cost benifit to own an Iphone with an expensive data plan. If I were broke I would rather eat that know what someone is doing on face book.

    Being alone post-op

I dont recommend driving home, but you can handle this alone once home. I didnt drive until day three, but could have made short distances. Make sure to have a selection on broths and other clear liquids stocked up.
  3. You go girl. Your look'n hot. Its amazing what a 100 does. Cant wait to get there. Less than 40 to go.

Where are all my May Sleevers?

My biggest problem is getting my water in. Have never had to throw up, but eating to much or to fast is uncomfortable and has made me consider throwing up.
  5. I am running about 1000 to 1200 a day average, but was just recently told to increase to 1400. I have dumped 64 lbs in eight weeks ,but feel fatigued at the end of the day. Keep in mind if one is more active they will need more calories. Much of this diet is about not just calories but where the calories come from.
  6. Dont worry to much about it. Make sure to get your water in. Calories and quanity is not that important. You will get the full effect of your sleeve once you move on to solid food. Liquids should go straight through your stomach. Thats the reason you never want to drink high cal liquids for this surgery to be effective.
  7. Ask yourself were is your pain between 1 and 10. If its a 6 or 7 you might still need pain killers if its below that get over it.

    Eating too much?

Your question really means nothing without knowing the calorie count. Share that info with your NUT for a comprehensive answer. My guess if you stay between 1000 and 1200 cals per day you will lose weight fast.
  9. Is using Chemo cheating when one has cancer? Should one take only natural cures for cancer instead? Not if they want to live! Obesity is a disease. One shouldnt feel guilty because they attacked their disease with the best treatment know. End of story.
  10. How much you eat depends on what you eat. If you eat solid protein such as chicken of beef 4 to 6 OZs is all you will fit. It you eat soup one or yogurt one can get a lot more down. The trick is to eat and make yourself full. Easier said than done. You will find getting use to smaller meals its that bad, but it does take time.
  11. At 8 weeks out I have had 2 bouts with low sugar levels. A bit of fruit juice is a quick fix. I have found that 2 servings of fruit per day keep my sugar level stable. The worst side effect I have experienced is gout in my foot. It been about 6 weeks since I developed gout. It has gotten better but has not totally gone away. I really want to start my couch to 5 training, but dont want to upset the gout. It Fri(*^cking hurts during a flare up.

    Craving red meat

Your 2 weeks out of what? Pre surgery or Post surgery. Pre I would go eat steak. Steaks are great after surgery but the portion just isnt the same. I miss a big steak, but love getting skinny more.
  13. You should be able to walk at least 3 miles a day. Dont worry about protein, but get your water in. It all gets better with time.
  14. Bravo.Hope I meet my goal as fast.

    Anti Inflammatory

At first I was told no anti inflammatories for life. Two weeks after surgery and gout struck which is a side effect. At that point I was told anti inflamitories were ok. I could take as many and as long as needed. That was 6 weeks ago and I still take anti inflamitories daily for gout. The docs and staff say lots of things and the story changes depending who one talks with. If you need them take them. I havent had an issue.

    Feeling guilty

I looked at it this way. The surgery probably added 10 years to my life. Great investment even at x10000000 the price.

    Miserable - Relationship Sucks

Being I think the only guy on this thread what should a 54 years old guy do if his wife nolonger wants the physical part of a marrage/relationship. She is for the most part good in all other aspects, but not having sex for a year is getting old. Maybe its time for a girl friend. I feel at this point she wont mind but doesnt want to know. Hell, I dont really know what she thinks.

    confused

My support group has members with all the 3 commom types of surgeries. The lap banders have the most complaints. The RYN'ers seem to be happy with the results. Sure everybody only wants one surgery, but the sleeve offers less complications than the bypass or the lap band. But all three surgeries have one thing in common, they all work if one keeps to the rules. You will find the surgery is only a tool. It is not magic. The mind game of weight loss is the hard part.
  20. Your reacting like most of us. The last supper syndrome.

    Missing....

Mountain Dew is also full of calories. I do know other sthat can down a 6 pack of beer, having no problems with carbonation. If you need a kick in the morning try coffe or tea.

    Going back to work

I could have easly gone back that quick. I really had little to no pain. Make sure you feel OK to drive. The drug given during surgery took a while to ware off for me.
  23. I am also from Washington but have not visited a pot shop. Although an aquantance owns the distibution rights to a pot brownie mix. This guy is about 60 a life long stoner. He was telling us about doing a test batch of brownies. He and his current girl friend split one serving. They got so stoned they had to crawl to the bathroom when nature called later that evening. If 1/2 a serving does that to him, I would be scared to try one. Might be fun to take a pan to work:) Since starting my weight loss journey I have avocated booze until meeting my goal weight. This being the case the idea of a visit to the pot shop has crossed my mind, but damn I dont want to crawl to the bathroom. I have always been a light weight when it comes to that stuff. Another friend tried as he described as pot infused orange crush. He ended up watching Sponge Bob all day.
  24. My doc up here have fixed many a mexican patient. Good luck to all.
