    When are the "typical" stalls?

@@LivingLight you and I have similar stats. I've been stalled for a month. Just can't lock in below 200. It is so frustrating. What's even more frustrating is when folks say I'm doing so great, don't fret...stalls happen. When it lasts this long, I FRET! I've tried adding Protein, upping calories lowering calories, upping exercise, lowering exercise, and I am bouncing back and forth between 201 and 195. It just won't stick at 195 and drop further. I am frustrated as heck.
  2. I just can't seem to get into Onderland and stay there. I keep hovering at 199 then back to 201 then back to 199 then to 201. WTF?!! It's been like a month of doing this. Will I ever get over that hump?

I stalled too at the same weight! I switched things up for a week by upping protein to 90-100 and cutting my carbs to under 20. I think my calories went up to like 800-900 too, because I was eating a lot of steak, eggs, and meats. It busted my stall though. I went back to my normal goals and have continued my normal (slow) rate of loss. It is so frustrating to stall right there on the cusp of the 100s!!!!

Thanks for the responses. It really is so frustrating!! I was talking to someone who is a couple months ahead of me, and she said our NUT had her go back to 500 calories per day, with no more than 20 carbs/20 fats...but protein 60-100. That isn't going to be easy. That is probably going to mean going back to 2 premier protein shakes a day and maybe a hunk of meat or an egg for the other meal. bleh!

I promise, it really will happen! I was like that for about 7 weeks. I was ready to throw my scale out the window. Then all of a sudden it dropped and dropped and dropped. That's when I knew I would never ever see 200 again!

  3. I am going to begin another 5 day reset on the 3rd. In support of a friend who is starting her preop liquids on that day for her surgery on the 10th! There are about 50 of us from the same employer who are going to support her in that way, and lose a little extra poundage in the process!
  4. Good morning, @@VSGAnn2014 ! I have to say that doing the 5 day reset that my Dr "prescribed" did seem to reset my restriction. It felt like I could eat more before I did the reset than afterward. That being said.....I had a realization during the 5 days of Liquid Protein and that was that before I began the 5 days I was GRAZING! I was grazing on CARBS!!! Pretzels to be precise. So, the 5 day reset allowed me to have the head hunger and boredom hunger and not give in to it, whereas I did give in to it before. Does that make sense? So, I think in my case it "reset" my head, not my sleeve.

    Gastric Balloon Procedure Booked!

That was an interesting read. The balloon patients seem to have lots more nausea than the sleeve patients. I didn't have nausea at all, and was able to get my fluids in from day 1. Sure would like to learn more.

    Boredom and head hunger

@@shriner37 Tim had me do a 5 day reset at 6 month post op visit. He said I didn't lose as much as he had hoped. I had lost only 25, and he wanted 40 more by 6 months. I'm still losing, but at a snails pace. The 5 day reset helped a lot. It helped me get that feeling of tight restriction back. A bunch of us are doing it between holidays and again in January. Just 5 days like it was preop. And...get back in to see Tim.

    jerkey

Funny you brought this up. I am 6 months post op and just bought myself a Jerky dehydrator and jerky gun (for ground meats) Love love love jerky!! Great way to reach those Protein goals!

    Boredom and head hunger

@@shriner37 We have the same surgeon! My surgery was at the end of April this year. I hear you about the boredom eating. I have to really watch it. I had a really long stall because I was grazing on pretzels. I had to give them up and do a 5 day reset (per Tim) That worked, but I have to really watch it. I think I'll have to be conscious of this forever, to be honest. I think grazing was how I became obese in the first place. Take care!
  9. Twice baked cauliflower: Fresh cauliflower (boiled till soft) (drain off water) mash, then "whip" your cauliflower Add: chopped green onion Some fresh minced garlic real bacon bits shredded cheese sour cream. Salt and pepper. Stir it all up together and put extra shredded cheese on top, then Bake it till the cheese gets a little bubbly There are no measurements, because you make it your own. And it is wonderful!

Surviving the Thanksgiving Table: A Few Hacks

I did not over eat today! AND I ate a tiny piece of pie! I feel I deserved that teeny tiny piece of pie. Everyone laughed at how small my piece of pie was...but it was pretty darn good, and it was plenty.

Surviving the Thanksgiving Table: A Few Hacks

I'm taking my twice baked mashed cauliflower, and I'm also taking the ham and turkey to my Moms. (we have a huge crowd coming). The twice baked mashed cauliflower is to die for!
  12. WOW! I do have an acquaintance who has had C-Diff and has yet to be cured of it, even though she has had several fecal transplants. But. fecal transplants are the only "cure" I am aware of. Good luck to you.

    Hair falling out!

I think I might have shed a little more than normal at about 3 months, but it didn't last long. My hair isn't thinner, but I do have whispy baby hairs that drive me nuts, because I wear my hair long. While it was shedding, I didn't wash it, but maybe twice a week, and I didn't use heat on my hair. I wore my wavy hair....wavy. I didn't blow dry it or straighten it for about 2 months. Now it seems like It's growing like crazy! It's down my back, and I've noticed lately that I sit back on it, when I'm driving...which is annoying. You see, at 53 this is the first time in my life that I have ever grown out my hair. So, I am really happy mine didn't get thin. I took Biotin and zinc for 4 years every day (growing out a pixie)...so maybe that helped.

    What Are You Thankful For?

Let's see...so much to be thankful for. I'm Thankful for my employer, and the health insurance they chose to offer their employees, where bariatric surgery is not excluded! I am thankful for my skillful surgeon, who made my sleeve surgery such a non-event! I am thankful for my 86 year old Mother who, even though she fought me about my decision to have the surgery, has stood by me every step of the way, and is my cheerleader! I am thankful for my husband of 27 years (in 11 days) who has put up with every crazy diet, whether it cost thousands of dollars, or came from a $5 book, and supports me to this day, by finding different ways to cook meat. I am thankful I found Bariatric Pal. I am thankful I chose to stay on Bariatric Pal, so I could get to know some really crazy wonderful people. And I am thankful that I wake up every day feeling even better than I did the day before! Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

  19. We just follow the nutritionists guidelines. Protein first, then veggies or fruits. No simple carbs. And exercise.(which I abhor! I walk or hike...that's it) Nothing any different than yours, I bet. And if you are looking at the before and afters, I am Sherrie. But mine is more a Before and during. Cuz I'm not done.

    Still feeling no restriction

I was just the same as you. I don't remember exactly when it was, but it may be when I was finally able to eat normal food, that is when I felt the restriction. Still do. You will. But I was hungry like a crazy woman at first during liquids and mushys. You're perfectly normal.

    Endoscope-painful?

I was supposed to be in a "twilight" sleep, but I remember it, as if I was wide awake. the thing they put in my mouth, the spray they sprayed in the back of my throat to deaden it, the scope they told me to swallow. It was over in a few seconds. I got up, got dressed and went shopping. No issues. But I was not asleep.

  24. I'd have to say YES. I don't offer advice, but I am not ashamed of my decision to have WLS. I am proud of my accomplishments so far, and I am happy to help anyone who wants my help. So, when I say I convinced people to have the surgery, it's not because I "talked" them into it...because I didn't. They made their own decision based on my (and others at my work) great results, and they "asked" me who my surgeon was, and "asked" me how to get started. I have not lost one friend with this convincing. In fact I have gained friends and supporters, and we all Celebrate each others victories and successes. I am super transparent and open, and people I work with know they can come to me and talk about anything without being judged. I believe in this life saving surgery with all my heart and soul, and if someone wants to hear my story and my story convinces them to take the plunge, then....good for them!

    Addicted to BP

BP is awesome! Helped me through preparation prior to having insurance, then through preop hoops, and I'm 7 months out, and I still come here daily. I feel like I have gotten to know a fair amount of people on this site, and I really enjoy them. The banter is awesome. Sometimes I laugh so hard my sides ache. I will continue to be here to help others, the way others have helped me. I enjoy being supportive, because so many of us don't have the support we need to succeed.
