  1. I'm 7 weeks out since surgery, and have been grazing on things. Sometimes I don't have full meals, just little Snacks. Anyone else have this problem, and how do you handle this? I don't want to do it anymore!

    Just got home today!

Congrats on your surgery! It's such a major event in our lives, and something we should be proud of! As far as the gas, I'm with everyone else, WALK! It's the only way to get it moving, and out of your body! GOOD LUCK!!

    Why am I hungry?

I don't know about you, but for me, that was head hunger. Right after I had surgery I thought I was hungry, because I was craving food. I would see commercials on tv, or watch my family eat, it was hard. In my opinion, which is just that, it's all psychological. You know deep down inside that if you eat anything you want you'll be sick as a dog!!! Just remember that I wish you good luck, and just try to get through that first week or so. I can remember asking myself why I did it. I promise it does get better. HUGS!
  4. Hi all... I'm 9 weeks post op and last time I talked with my dietician she said I need to be eating anywhere from 450-650 calories. Well, when I work out (which is pretty hard), I burn roughly 700 calories. I know I should probably call her, but I'm just curious about what your dietician tells you.

    I did it.

Good Luck on your journey. We're all here to help you along!

    Miss my........

My doc no soda of any kind for two years! By then I don't think I will miss it anymore! I miss my Coke Zero a lot of times. My doctor told me no soda forever, that it will stretch out the pouch. However, I have found flavored waters like Vitamin Water zero and Sobe water is nicer than just plain. No calories!

Benadryl : Can I take it?

They gave me benadryl in the hospital because of my anxiety. However, definitely call your doctor. I have to call them today to ask if I can just take glucosamine! Its so funny how we could take anything before, and now we have to be so careful
  8. I was exercising pretty hard before my surgery, so I went back to my spinning class after 2 weeks. But, I listened to my body and slowed down when I needed to, and only went 3 times a week.

    Miss my........

Sometimes I really miss my Coke Zero. I know it's not good for you, surgery or no surgery. But, I just miss a cold, icy fountain Coke Zero. Now, unsweetened tea is my treat.

    Starving!

I think it's pretty different for everyone. I wasn't hungry at all, but I was craving things. Just get through that liquid stage!

    Excess GAS anyone?

Its pretty normal to have excess gas in the very beginning. It's actually a good thing. When I was in the hospital they told me that if I needed to pass gas or burp to just let it go. Be happy its happening!
  12. I had my surgery March 17, so I'm 2 months out. I would have to say my biggest obstacle is to try and not graze. If I see something on the counter I might have a taste, or more. I've been working on it, and have been doing better. What about you? What's been your biggest obstacle so far?
  13. I'm 2 months out, and I find that if I have pain in my stomach its because I know I did something wrong. Now, if you are following all of her advice and still have pain its time to let them know. Good luck to you

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I just bought a size 18 dress for my daughters first communion, and a pair of size 20 shorts. I was wearing a 26, plus I haven't worn shorts in years. Man this feels so awesome!!!!

Snacking or as I like to call "grazing"...

You had your surgery this past April 11? 1200 calories is what your doc has said to eat a day? I had a gastric bypass on march 31 2014 and I can only eat 500 calories a day or that's all what I am able to consume. Def check with your doc I'm just guessing, but I think that with the sleeve process the stomach is larger than with gastric bypass. So, therefore she can eat 1200 a day. I take in about 650, but I usually burn 500-600 calories a day with exercise.

Snacking or as I like to call "grazing"...

Its amazing how different our doctors are and what they want us to eat. A lot of the things on your example menu, I'm encouraged not to eat. I do agree with many of the things you've said. I'm doing much better now. Even though my nutritionist didn't want me to count calories or protein grams, I have started. It's making me much more accountable!
  17. Hi everyone! My name is Amanda and I had my gastric bypass on March 17. Since then I have lost 27 pounds, but have definitely sloooowed down. I made the decision for gastric bypass since I started gaining weight 7 years ago after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The medications put so much weight on me and it has been really hard to lose. Now, I have found a medication that has worked and have been stable for sometime! For the first time I am looking forward to the future!
  18. My family and I use to go out all the time, now maybe 2xs a month. But, when we do, just about every restaurant has a lighter fare menu. I choose something, eat a small portion, then take it home to have later. I don't stress out about it. Sure I would like to have what everyone else is having, but I'm losing weight and feeling good. I can't put a hold on my life just because I had surgery. I just need to make sure I make the best choice possible!
  19. My mom was worried about me having surgery of course, but other than that, I had a bunch of cheerleaders for me. Not sure why your MIL was not happy about you having surgery. Maybe in a way she's jealous of you and your happiness. I know that's how my MIL always feels about me. Hope things are going well for you!

I actually never thought about using pinterest for that. I feel like a dumb dumb now I will have to give that a try. I'm so tired of eating the same old things!

Anxiety, have you had it since surgery?

I have always had anxiety issues, but now it seems to focus on my WLS. My anxiety is associated with the fact that I'm going to do something to stretch out my pouch. It scares me so much, that I worry about eating. So, I think if you're already prone to anxiety, I'm pretty sure it can increase. I hope you feel better!
