Just walk in there with your head held high! You're doing something better for you and your health, who's going to judge you. And, if they do, it says way more about them than you! I went in at 320lbs, but I was doing it to make myself healthier. You can do the same. Good luck!

RNY caused me to lose my friends
Marathongirl replied to jtickle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This says volumes about them, and nothing about you. I lost friends back in college when I lost 30lbs and was really thin. I know it's hard to lose them as friends, but you don't need that negativity in your life when you're going through something as serious as losing weight. I'm sorry you're having a hard time. Hopefully you'll meet some great people who support you in every way! -

How does your menstrual cycle effect your eating? It's a week before mine, and I'm just starving. I am craving carbs like crazy, and all I want to do is eat. This is going to mess me up! How do you girls deal with it?

Question for the ladies
Marathongirl replied to Marathongirl's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
It's ok to have it time to time but all in moderation. But try to eat proteins to fill yourself so you don't go for the bad carbs when you have cravings. Hope this helps.'btw are you on mfp? Yes I am! I'm Lilchickpea. -
Question for the ladies
Marathongirl replied to Marathongirl's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I crave things like pretzels and popcorn. I have had both, and they don't bother my stomach. I have them maybe once in awhile, but just before my period I want them so bad. Maybe I will try eating more proteins and see if that helps me curb my appetite. -
please tell me the truth

Im 5 months out... I had my first pizza about 2 weeks ago. It was good, but I would have rather had something else. -
About a month ago I was so tired and could hardly lift my arms! I talked with my doctor and they told me that I needed to up my B-12 to 2000mg. I would speak with you surgeon. Hope you get some energy.

How much weight loss per week is normal?
Marathongirl replied to Drummergirl505's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's nice to find another runner lover on here! I'm back up to 3.1 miles right now. I'm not paying attention to speed as much as I am distance. It feels so nice to be able to run again! -

When to purge old clothes
Marathongirl replied to ke-sa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Usually my friends will say, "Hey Amanda, those shorts are way too big on you!" Then I let them go. I'm still in that mindset of being 320, that I don't know when to let go. So now I have two big black garbage bags full of clothes I can't wear and the pile is growing. Went from a 26 to a 16/18. Say goodbye to those clothes forever!! -
How much weight loss per week is normal?
Marathongirl replied to Drummergirl505's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is totally different! I only lost 2 lbs per week for the longest time. I suffered from two stalls right away. It really just depends on your body. I know its hard, but try not to compare yourself to others, it will just drive you crazy! Good Luck on your journey! -
What foods made you dump?
Marathongirl replied to Lthomas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had dumping syndrome just last night and I'm 19 weeks post op. I have no idea what would have caused it, except that I woke up at 2am starving (didn't eat much yesterday) and I had a little snack. Nothing out of the ordinary, something I have eaten plenty of times before. But, I was in so much pain, broke out in a cold sweat and thought I was going to pass out. The only thing I can think of was that I ate when I don't usually eat. Otherwise it's very strange for me to suffer from dumping syndrome. Some people suffer from it, some don't. Just be careful of what you eat and you'll be okay! Good luck on your journey! -
Don't you just love it! Great job

I'm so sorry you're having to go through that! I hope everything turns out okay!

If I couldn't exercise I would go stir crazy! I run 3.1 miles at least 2 to 3 times a week, spin classes, and I do strength training (trying to tighten that skin some). If you don't exercise at all, everything you lose will turn to flab, and you want muscle. Muscle burns way more calories at rest than excess skin. You're doing great by exercising 6 days a week. Just make sure to listen to your body. When it says I'm tired, then take a break. Don't listen to those nay sayers! You're doing awesome!
-
Congratulations!!! That's wonderful! Best of luck on your journey!

I had 2 major plateaus in the very beginning. It was sooo annoying and frustrating. Basically your body is saying, "you're starving me, I need to hold on to the fat so that I have something." Once your body gets use to your new way of how its constructed on the inside and how you're eating, it will let go. After my second plateau, I haven't stopped losing. Don't give up!
