Great timing for me to read this thread. I am 4 months post-op and have really been struggling trying to keep my intake at 800 calories. I exercise about 5 days a week- running 4 miles or bootcamp. Boot camp burns about 500 according to boot camp instructor and running burns about 700 according to mfp and the bridge to 10k app. I've added the boot camp and increased the running in the last month and have noticed a slow down in weight loss (yeah I know I could be adding muscle, but don't we all want to see the result on the scale? ). I like seeing some of you at 1000 calorie intake. I think on the days I exercise, I will increase to 1000. I've also scheduled an appt with my NUT (who I haven't seen since pre-op) because I'm trying to do what I've been told but I also feel like I'm depriving myself on the days I exercise. I think the basic nutrition guidelines we're given consider we might be doing something like 30 min cardio 3-5 times a week. With higher intensity exercise, it just seems reasonable to add more calories.

I'm 13 weeks. I have been eating right around 1200 calories for a a few weeks. I def could eat more. I bike 12-16 miles 3-4 days a week and than do arms those days. And on opposite days I walk about 4 miles. I started off w BMI of 34 SW 241 I'm 5'11" today I weigh 198. 43 pounds! I eat Protein 1st for meals but often my Snacks are carbs. I have even eaten oreos, ice cream, chips and a few cocktails but all in moderation. 2 oreos -not the whole container! 10 chips-not the whole bag! This is a lifestyle change for me! I wanna be able to enjoy what I love but not have it rule me!

I am averaging about 3 pounds per week lost. I walk/run Mon-Thurs and so strength training as well. I try to eat ONLY Protein. No veggies/no carbs. Some days it is possible, some days it is not. For the most part, I stay on track. I DO NOT have unrealistic goals. I am more than happy with 3 pounds per week.

First off, 25 pounds in six weeks is not slow! I don't know where some people are getting these unrealistic expectations of how fast they should be dropping weight post-sleeve. I haven't had mine yet (scheduled for Sept. 1), but I've done a TON of research and watched a lot of youtube videos and read a lot of blogs from post-op sleevers and I am hoping to be able to lose about 10 pounds per month post-op. If you've lost 25 pounds in 6 weeks, that means you're already 20 pounds ahead of my 6 week goal!
Secondly, I think 300-500 calories a day is too little 6 weeks out. You should be aiming for 600 I would guess. Have you talked to your nutritionist?

Thanks to everyone for replies... I have to say that it seems some of the responses are a little preachy... Sounded like it was coming exactly from my psychiatrist lady lol. Maybe I should have expected that. But, I really appreciate those that are touching on the actual point of my question "What have your experiences been?"
From the limited number of replies, it kind of seems like those who have wanted to keep their social lives the same (as far as cocktail hours, etc.) are able to. Those who chose not to drink much in the first place are still not drinking and have a better reason not to.
As I said before, it's nothing I would consider canceling my surgery for. I just wanted an idea of what to expect from those who have already been there. The other thing I found interesting is that unless I missed one, it's been ALL females who've commented. I'd be interested to hear some males perspectives as well. (But, keep on commenting girls!)

I will be 16 weeks post op on Wednesday 7/30. I began this journey in a size 22. I went this weekend to shop for jeans...Holy moly............................CAN YOU SAY SIZE 16????? I am so excited and overcome with joy. This has been a journey of ups and downs. It is the absolute craziest ride I've EVER been on. It is becoming more and more worth the "bad" parts everyday.

I never dreamed I would say this, but I am dreading the fact that I have to go shopping this weekend. I am so nervous. I do NOT get on the scale. I only weigh when I go to the doctor for my check ups. I have put off shopping except for a couple of shirts here or there, but this weekend I have to do the dreaded.....I have to buy jeans. I have put it off and put it off, but I can't any longer. My jeans I have from pre surgery look horrible. I have lost 40+ pounds and a lot of inches. I was in a size 20/22 before surgery. I am going to start with 18's when I begin trying them on. I have bought 1 pair of 18 capris and they are super baggy now. If I can get in a 16...y'all will hear me screaming from Talladega Alabama. I have worked my butt off so I know if I do get into a 16 if it well deserved. I run/walk everyday...rain or shine and I do strength training as well. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I hope everyone is doing well and having much success.

My wife was wearing 20/22 when she was sleeved July 8, 2013. She bought a pair of size 12 "goal jean shorts" around a month post-op. She is now in an 8 and they are loose!
Good luck on your journey...hope to hear you scream all the way in New Orleans!
