    hair loss

I was sleeved on 4/9 and within the last 2 weeks have started to lose my hair. Fortunately, I have very thick hair (way more than I need) lol.. With that being said, I don't want to lose too much. I like my thick hair. I hope it doesn't last to long. My nails seem to be ok. However, my joints have been extremely achy lately. Does anyone else have that problem?

    Whats your "full" signal?

My "FULL" feeling is a very tight feeling in my chest. It hurts to breathe. I love the feeling...especially if I haven't really eaten much :-) I eat really good some days and other days I may be able to eat a couple bites and be full. It is weird.
  5. I am now 2 months and 9 days Post Op. It has been a rough road. I had surgery on 4/9. I could not regain ANY of my of energy, could not eat/drink hardly anything. On May 11th I was sitting at work and began to have severe pain in my shoulder. I laid down in my car during lunch and went back to work after lunch....at this point I was in tears to my boss I was in such pain. I finished the day out, went home and went straight to bed. At 5:30 the following morning I called my mom to take me to the ER...(she lives 2 hours away) by the time she got to me and we got to the ER it was around 9:30am....by 11am I was in surgery again. I had a perforation where my esophagus meets my stomach (basically I was filling up with air). It was probably the worst pain I have EVER endured. I wanted to die. Honestly, I thought I was dying. Within a week after surgery I was FINALLY beginning to feel human again. Until this point I regretted the surgery. I felt I had made the worst mistake of my life. Today...2 months and 9 days later..I am 37 pounds down.. Not sure how many inches I have lost, but I can tell a HUGE difference. I have so much energy. I have never been a go go go person, but that has changed. I want to continuously be on the go.I no longer feel like shooting myself in the head at meal times. I was finally released for exercise last week and let me tell you....my exercise partner is hating me this week, LOL... I know I am rambling, but I wanted to tell my story incase anyone is having a tough time or having regrets. It WILL get better. I wish everyone the best of luck.
  6. I am a month and a half post op and this week I could eat the walls down. Granted the first 5 weeks were total hell. To the point I had to go back in for emergency surgery at 5 weeks. My energy level is back and I finally feel human again, but I feel guilty for being hungry HELP!!!!

    Shoulder Pain... Gas?

I am 5 weeks out this week. On Monday 5/12 began to experience MAJOR shoulder pain. I went straight to bed after work and could not even get up to use the bathroom. Tuesday 5/13 I went to the ER within 3 hours I was in emergency surgery. There was a perforation (sp?) where my esophagus meets my stomach. My point is to be very careful. I thought mine was gas as well. Even when I got to the ER I thought they would tell me I needed to pass gas or some other minor fix. I NEVER thought I was be going through surgery again. You know your body better than anyone. I hope you feel better soon.
  9. So....tomorrow is 5 weeks post op. Monday I started hurting extremely bad in my shoulders and sternum. I thought it was gas and would pass. Tuesday morning I called my mom to take me to the ER....we got there about 9:30am...little did I know what was going to take place. After xrays and a ct scan it became known I had a perforation where my esophagus meets my stomach. So then off to emergency surgery. Now I have drain tubes and feel like I've had to start all over again. Back on fluids only. I'm so thankful no infection had started to set in. Very fortunate in that aspect. I'm so sore and ready to be 100%. I've had horrible luck with this.
  10. No symptoms. I actually thought it was a cramp in my shoulder. Or possibly gas. Yes it was very scary. The doctors were rushing around frantically trying to get me set up for surgery.
  11. I am going through the same things. April 9th was my surgery date. I am not eating/drinking anywhere near what I am supposed to be. Can't keep any protein shakes down. I am so weak and now my blood pressure is super low. I have to go back to the dr for that tomorrow. I am so afraid I am going to dehydrate. I am no where near where I thought I would be at this point. I regret my decision to be sleeved. I wish I could go back to normal life.

    a streched stomach pouch?

I was sleeved on 4/9 and still feel very tired/weak. I've been very sick, vomiting all day. I hope you ladies start to feel better soon.
  13. I was sleeved and had hernia repair 11 days ago. I am experiencing severe pain in my sternum and in between my shoulder blades. I cannot sit up straight without being in excrutiating pain. I don't know what it is. If it is gas or something else. Has anyone else had this pain? I have spoken with the doctor to be told it is normal??? I am wondering how long this will last?

    Pains 11 days out

Ann, That sounds horrible. I hope it gets better for you. For all of us having difficulties. It is so frustrating. I am so weak, because everything I eat comes up, but I still keep trying. :-) The biggest concern at this point is staying hydrated. I was told if he scoped me that he could diffuse the scarring if that is what is my problem. I hope you can get some answers soon as well. There is no reason for anyone to be miserable after having a surgery that is supposed to help us all.

    Pains 11 days out

I went today for my 14 day follow up. They seem to think I must be experiencing a lot of scarring and swelling. If I am still vomiting in a week I am scheduled for an endoscope to see what it going on. They do not want to go back in this soon since I am still healing. Thanks everyone. I've managed to only be sick 4 times thus far today. That is progress!

THIS is how the first 4 weeks go...

I am so glad I came across this post. I am on day 10 and have not been feeling like a million bucks to say the least. I have cried and cried, I think I have actually thought I would be better off dead. I am so weak, so ready to chew food, and so ready to be human. My first couple of days home from the hospital was great. I felt awesome and boy that went down hill FAST! I have questioned myself so many times "why did I do this, will I EVER feel normal again?" This post has made my day a little brighter. I have been sitting here all day wondering how I am going to go back to work in 2 days. Thank you so much for posting.
  18. Michael, I have done cream of potato, cream of mushroom, mashed potatoes with veggie soup juice over them, sugar free pudding, yogurt, applesauce. I've tried refried Beans as well...they weren't so hot. I've not been eating/drinking what I should. I have been so discouraged. Cried myself to sleep that last few nights. I've been so weak and I know it is because I am probably nearing dehydration. I woke up this morning in the mindset that I WILL eat more today if it kills me. I HAVE to get my energy back. I have a lot of pain at the top of my abdomen. I just pray it gets better soon.

  20. Today is 9 days out for me and this is the first day I have been able to drink much of anything. I have been extremely thirsty today. I actually think I was on my way to becoming dehydrated. Every day is a new day though. Thank god! Michael Reed what are you pureeing? Can you give me some examples. I think I need something other than soup broths. I need something of substance!
  21. Yes, I had a hernia repaired. I called my doctor today. They seem to think it is simply from the sleeve and all of the swelling in my abdomen. I have ate and drank more today that I have been able to thus far.
  22. I have walked daily somsgal. The only time I am in pain is when I am sitting up straight. I have not called the doctor yet, I wasn't sure if this was normal. Have you experienced anything like this? Discomfort in the upper abdomen or sorta like the sternum area?
  23. Hello, I am 7 days out from the gastric sleeve procedure as well as hernia correction. I am MISERABLE. I can barely drink 12-16 oz a day of clear fluids, nevermind the Protein shakes...they left me hugging the toilet and crying like a baby, as for FULL liquids...I can handle maybe 2 oz at the most per meal. I have cried and cried wondering if this was a bad decision. After dinner tonight and then the pain, and sickness that follows, I decided to look into a support group. I get the worst pain in the area the hernia was repaired and in between my shoulder blades. Almost like gas. It is the WORST pain. It hurts up to my throat. Can anyone please give me any insight?
