hiccupingduck got a reaction from ChellNC in Protein while traveling & Disney Dining
I'm going to Disney World in October. I'll be 6 month post-op. I've talked to my two friends that I'm going with, and we're all going to share meals or I'm just going to get a Kid's Meal! I have the card just in case, but we're not hitting up any sort of buffets. $40 for a 1/2 cup of food? Can't justify it. Plus, my friends and I are saving money by sharing.
I'm incredibly excited to read this post because it seems as though everything I've searched about eating in Disney after being sleeved has been so negative. I've read some of the menus and can find something to eat almost anywhere. I'm not too worried about going over my carb count. Disney is such a rare thing and having a few extra carbs isn't going to kill me! That, and I really don't wanna get all worried about it. With all the walking that we do (my friends and I are there from opening to close and then go swimming...we take our Disney to the extreme) and the fact that I"m bringing resistance bands to do some strength training, I think that having food that I normally wouldn't eat because I'm so worried about carbs, will be okay.

hiccupingduck got a reaction from lblondon in BMI CHARTS are ridiculous!
BMI doesn't account for muscle mass either. Most olympic athletes are in the overweight category due to muscle.
I never liked BMI much. Definitely don't go by it and like 1sleevecomingup, go by how you feel.

hiccupingduck reacted to IronDruggist in To carb or not to carb
I'm new to these forums, but I've done quite a bit of reading regarding post-op diets. My understanding from my NUT, and my surgeon is that the post-op diet is not intended to be "low carb." That is very clearly stated in my educational paperwork. However, so many threads seem to just freak out over eating ANY carbs...even claiming to gain x amount of pounds from eating a cracker, or stalling for weeks because they drank a glass of wine. Quite frankly, it starts to read like a pro-ana website sometimes! I thought this surgery was not only a tool to help us loss weight, but also to help us develop a healthy relationship with food. By all means, eat HEALTHY, eat CLEAN, eat WHOLE FOODS. These include complex carbs found in veggies, fruit, and whole grains. Now, I admit I'm only 2 weeks out of surgery, so maybe my views will change, but I do not believe that we should punish ourselves. Learn moderation, not abstinence!

I've been trolling for a little while and posted a few threads. I've seen others get verbally attacked and bullied on this site and all I want to say is don't be a bitch to folks here. Most of us already have suffered some type of abuse in some form or another and it isn't necessary.
Is hurting other people making you feel better about yourself? I thought this site was to build people up ...let's be positive to one another and not hateful there is enough of that in the world already!!!!
