    Will it really work?

If you follow the program, ABSOLUTELY! The sleeve is not a miracle, it's a tool. Ultimately, it's up to you to make it work and use this amazing tool to your advantage. Good Luck and congratulations to you both!!
  4. Sleeved August 22 and doing really well! 17lbs since surgery.Had a little pain and nausea post op but as soon as I was hooked up to the pain pump that all went away Unfortunately, I got a TERRIBLE headache that lasted all 2 days in the hospital! Liquids for 2 weeks and now I'm on soft. I will honestly say the head hunger has been the hardest thing so far, which actually surprised me. Now at almost 3 weeks out, it has gotten MUCH better. Trying different pureed food, but honestly I have pretty good restriction, so I can really only eat 3 Oz at a time. Doing pretty good getting my fluids in though. Walking, eating as much protein as I can and excited to see the weight coming off! I feel great!

    Sleeved and not felt "full"

I had said this in another thread, but I was sleeved August 22, and felt the same way you do. I even thought "Did the doctor even DO the surgery? I'm not feeling full" Once I started on purees, the full feeling came with a vengance! I ate one to many spoonfuls if refried beans and was miserable for about 20 minutes! Liquids are liquids and they will go right through your little tummy. Be patient, and the full feeling will come once your tummy starts healing and you move onto more solid food
  6. Sleeved the same day as you. I thought the same thing until today (literally just 20 minutes ago). Just had some refried beans for dinner with a little cheese, and they tasted so good I didn't stop. Well THAT was a mistake. I just spent 20 miserable minutes thinking I was going to throw up. Lesson learned. I pushed it and I paid for it! Now I will be measuring my portions and stopping there because I KNOW I can get full now You'll get there!
  7. No problems here! Day 10 here and feeling great! Minimum pain, getting all 64 Oz of fluids in no problem! Feeling good, have lost 10lbs, and am looking forward to the next step of pureed food on Friday! Has been almost TOO easy ????

    Eating Habits 1 week out

I was sleeved the same day as you were. Per my doctors orders, I am still doing the full liquid diet. At this point I have found a groove of Premier Protein shakes and cream soups either with enough protein or protein added to them. To combat the boredom, I am spending a little more money and getting "deli" quality soups like tomato bisque, lobster bisque, broccoli cheese etc...if they are a little chunky I am running them through my bullet with a little milk. Personally, I will wait until my surgeon okays my next phase until I venture onto anything other than full liquids. Good job on your weight loss!

    Not big enough for WLS?

I have a BMI of about 39 and when I went into my surgeon required pulmonary appointment, the nurse said "Why are YOU having weight loss surgery? You're so beautiful!" I just rolled my eyes and said, "It has nothing to do with "being pretty". Once you take my blood pressure you will see WHY I am having weight loss surgery". After my reading of 149/94 she shut up. Funny thing is, she was very overweight. It seems the most criticism I get are from overweight/obese people when I tell them I am getting the surgery! What is THAT all about??
  10. @@Sharon C. Looking at your picture, you are a beautiful girl. And I'm sure (I hope) that you know that. I just hope you can explain to your friend that it's really not about "acceptance" of yourself. It's about loving your beautiful self enough to know that being overweight is not healthy, and you want to change that. Believe me, as someone on the wrong side of 50, it doesn't get any easier being overweight. Why not be gorgeous AND healthy? I'm sorry about your friend not being supportive, but please surround yourself with people who will be and will help you get to your ultimate goal of a healthy weight.
  11. I don't even know where to start. What does your "friend" say about overweight people who need to do the surgery for health reasons (like me)?. I am almost 47 years old, and the weight has quite frankly taken a toll on my health as of late. My mom died at the young age of 69 due to heart failure after a heart attack. I am now hypertensive and pre diabetic. I am not doing this to "look pretty". I am not doing this because I hate myself. I am not doing this because I can't accept my fat and want to fit into what society thinks is acceptable. I am not doing this because I'm "fatphobic". Quite frankly, I'm doing this TO SAVE MY LIFE. It's time we do away with the politically correct bullshit of "fat acceptance" and start telling the TRUTH about what it does to your body to be overweight. I am having the surgery BECAUSE I love myself. Period.
  12. Hello fellow Boiseans! (Boisonites?) I am here in Meridian and smack in the middle of my 3 month jumping through hoops process! Dr Korn will be performing my surgery. I have had my psych eval, in month 2 for my doc supervised weight loss, and will undergo a sleep study here soon. Hopefully will meet some of you in a support group here soon! Just doing my thing and hoping for the day i'm approved for surgery! Thinking it may be August or September...but we will see

    TOO SKINNY

My husband had that happen after his gastric bypass about 8 years ago. People kept telling him "You're too skinny!" When he went to his bariatric doc for a check up and told him what people were saying, his response was "There are so many overweight people right now, they don't even know what a "normal" weight looks like anymore"....
  14. No offense, but why do you give a sh@t what other people think? You obviously did what you thought was the right thing to do, so who cares what anybody else says? Besides, she won't think it was "too drastic" when you get to your ideal weight and are healthy, happy and keeping it off. Maybe educate her by having her read about the procedure and why it is just the best option for some people. You just keep going with your awesome self and try not to worry about what other people may think or say
