    disappointed with self

@@paulatoney several of my friends have hit some serious stalls and the frustration is understandable. First, I would have a chat with your doctor and Secondly, I would talk with your dietitian. The common thing that I've heard is, try going back on your pre-op diet and then slowly advance to your weekly diet plans of liquids, full liquids, pureed, soft foods. This longer process helps to reset your metabolism and weight loss. As others have said... stay away from the things you KNOW are bad from you! Good luck on your continued journey!
  2. @@HealthyRN I work in your average busy ICU on the night shift. I took off 2 weeks, and if it wasn't for coming down with strep throat a week after my surgery, I could have gone back to work sooner. I was on a modified weight lifting restriction and my co-workers were more than happy to help me with my turns. Good luck on your journey!

    Just getting started

@@CincyDave "every journey starts with a single step." - Confucius Your journey is just beginning... I wish I could back to those early days, the days I was trying to talk myself out of having this surgery... the lies I was telling myself, that I could do it by myself... and finally have the crushing recollection that this surgery can't happen soon enough.... You've made a difficult decision... Congrat's and welcome to the group of losers!

    Symptoms of Hypoglycemia?

@@MR0218 I am a nurse of 28 years and those definitely do sound like symptoms of low blood sugars. I presume you do not have a history of diabetes? I can say that I to have have similar symptoms, since my surgery March 2, 2015, at work, when this are excessively busy and I can not get something to eat. The symptoms resolved very fast, after I do force myself to take the time to get something to eat, mostly a Protein drink. I would contact your primary care doctor and explain those systoms, but I would keep an emergency 'something', like a Protein Drink (you need sugar, which it haves, but the complex carbs and protein helps maintain a "normal' blood sugar level), try to avoid all sugar drink/candy, as they can cause a rapid rise in blood sugar, but can lead to a rapid drop in blood sugar as well.... Just my advice. Good luck!

    HAD IT DONE!

I agree, when I was making progress in my diet, I stayed on liquids for an extra week. After that I went to the soft food, I lived on scrambled eggs and cheese. Good luck!!!!

@@rmag Just a piece of friendly advice... when you feel like you have to start passing gas.... please remember to never trust a fart.
  9. @@jasminew My experience was as an ICU nurse. I expected clean and safe care. I was picked up at the San Diego ariport and taken to the hotel, it was very nice and I felt safe walking in the area. I was taken to the hospital and had pre-op labs and an EKG done. Nothing different from what I had experienced myself in the States. My surgery went well. The doctors had all met me and talked to me, I was given versed and propofol during my surgery and my recovery time in the PACU was uneventful... I have to admit, the first night was awesome, as was the care I received while I was there... there were only 9 beds on the floor I was on and 2 nurses... that is 4.5 patients/per nurse and is extremely awesome ratios, you do not see that here in the States. I was given scheduled Antibiotics, anti nausea meds, pain medication and antacid medication. I never experienced any problems. On discharge date, I was given a lovenox (blood thinner) and we were taken back to the hotel for 2 more days to recover. The staff of A Lighter Me were very attentive and available. On arriving home, I spiked a temp and spent time 1 on 1 talking with Dr Ortiz, and agreed to take an additional antibiotic (I got strept throat, most like the airplane), my recovery went well after that. My success and experience, were enough for my sister to pay for her son to go there to have his sleeve, by the same MD, in June of this year, and my neighbor is working with A Lighter Me to have her sleeve done as well... I feel very comfortable giving my support for A Lighter Me and Dr Ortiz. I hope this helps... if you have any further questions... please don't hesitate to ask.

    March Sleevers

Okay... here is a grander weigh of describing this threat, 'The March Sleever'.... as I look on at amazement on those with over 100 pounds gone forever... and noticing there are 109 followers of this thread.. IF... IF the average (conservatively) March Sleever, on this site, lost just 50 pounds... that is 5, 450 pounds or the grander part... nearly 3 TONS of weight loss (there are 2000 pounds in a ton)... WOW... that is all I can say!!! We are changing ourselves!!!

  15. My 'go to' places for clothes has been Kohls and Amazon.com. As my weight has come off, I have been shopping at Goodwill. I know it can be hit and miss with sizes and selection, but it is far cheaper than the store. It would be nice if there was a swapping site, for people who have had bariatric surgery to share their weight loss success, excesses.
