Did you have any restriction in the solid food pre-fill phase?
I had good ristriction for about 6 weeks then it became spotty. Some days I'll have better restriction then other days. Didn't get a fill at my first appt, and will be getting a fill next appt. Thank goodness! That's great that anyone can still retain good retriction after 6 months. I think maybe its really a mental thing? We chose to eat better so it works better? This is my theory. But I am ready for a fill now

Am I A Failure?
Jessica, sounds like you need to see your Dr! You could have something wrong with the band itself. Sorry you're going through such a hard time:sad:

Rash..under my stomach (apron)
Just like Jo Skinny my Dr has given me Nystatine Power (the creams make it worse). Every once in a blue moon I get a rash under my stomach or breasts now but haven't had one in a long time. I've even had them in my elbow, & between my legs (this is the worse). I find that when I drink lots of coffee & eat food high in sugar I get them. There was 1 year when I seemed to have the rash for months straight. Yuck

Fresh Foods???
I may have problems with eating certain types of foods with proper restriction but I don't have much restriction right now. The only foods I have slight issues with is watermelon/cantelope and I think 'cause of the water content?

Hickups?
I got hiccups, too, but not that bad after I was banded. They did go away, tho, when the restriction when down. They seemed to scare me a little at first because they were strong. Maybe you should tell your Dr about them?

sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't?
I feel like I've just learned alot from all of you. I went in for my 1st fill 2 weeks ago and my Dr said that I'm doing great and that he didn't think I needed a fill. I was ok with that until I found out that I have to wait 4 months until my 2nd fill. Now I'm worried. However, I still have times that I have more restriction then others. I'm still trying to go for a fill, tho, before the 4 months. Until then I will have to use mostly will power.

Advice you can take or leave, but please listen..
I understand raising concerns about overt medical issues like "puking blood" that need to be addressed by a Dr. But other times people ask questions because they want to hear about other's experiences. This is one way to learn.

Donated blood since being banded...Help!
Talked with my mom (nurse) and she says its probably to do with my body being in transition and the quality of nutrients in it. She wasn't comfortable with me donating blood. Ok, I'll wait and ask the next time I see my Dr in person for a full explanation. I've done pretty much everything by the book so far might as well keep plugging along. Thanks for the support!

Donated blood since being banded...Help!
Thevoice of reason. I understand where you are coming from Twilight I just don't see any logic behind what the Dr suggests. Suppose everyone's all over the board. My Dr is very conservative. I'm listening to the no exercise (except walking) until the 6th week and then only light stuff and then I can really pick up at the 8th week. I can understand that...but no donating blood when there was never a transfusion or a risk of blood loss?

Donated blood since being banded...Help!
Thanks, I'm doing it anyway. Use to do it all the time. Haven't heard from anyone whose had any issues at all. I had low iron issues before so now that I'm not drinking caffine I wonder what my levels will be now. So Saturday at 1:30 here I come!

Donated blood since being banded...Help!
Seeing that it takes a while to get through to them I'm just going to see what you guys say. My dr sees to be UTLTRA conservative so I think I'm going to go for it anyway. Don't understand why not

Donated blood since being banded...Help!
I use to donate blood all the time until I decided to get banded and now my Dr said that I have to wait until I reach my goal weight before I can donate again. What??!! Has anyone heard of this? Did any of you see a difference (slow down) or any other adverse effects with your weight loss once you donated? I have an appointment to donate tommorrow and now I don't know if I should cancel it. :huh2:

Treadmill VS Elliptical
Like others I think treadmills are boring and I burn more calories on the Ellip. But I burn even more calories during aerobic classes like kick-boxing. Can't wait to be able to start my serious working out!

Sorry this is gross....Is anybody else pooping more??
Oh, yeah, after the 8th day or so post surgery of no pooping I did take Miralaz, which did cause a little discomfort/cramping. But I figured I needed to get it all out.

Your Ah-ha Moment?
Sure, Minpinmom, lets keep in touch.

How often do you get fills?
Oh, but the person who scheduled the one in July for me set me up for August, Sept & October so at least I def have those months covered!
-
How often do you get fills?
Aparently mine has no schedule for fills. Went in for my 1st fill Dr said I didn't need one (and I was ok with that) and then found out that I have to wait 4 months for the next one 'cause they don't have the manpower to do them! So I'm on some vague "list". Very upset, to tell the truth. Believe me I'm going to be calling in a couple of weeks and every week until I get in. Its March, and I have to wait until July! Just not right

Weight Watchers and LB
WW now as a program where you don't count points if you eat veggies, meat and fruit, whole grains. Its more complicated then that but check it out.

Sorry this is gross....Is anybody else pooping more??
I'm like everyone here - I'm going a lot less and thank goodness for it!! I use to have a major problem with diarrhea. Some days I'd live on the toilet. Sometimes now, tho, I go days w/out going and that that can be a bit uncomfortable (not to mention carrying unwanted baggage around)! I do remember a time when I was doing the Atkens diet and I was going all of the time - reaction to meat?

Your Ah-ha Moment?
I could write a book containing all of the "A-Ha" moments I've had in my adult life - from knocking my children down with my thighs because they stood too close to me and I couldn't see them (this is true! I'd knock them down!) to my son playing with my bat-winged arms saying "oh, soft and fluffy". And then I'd be motivated for a short period of time, the longest was 6 months with Weight Watchers where I lost 50 pounds. But there was always somthing that brought be back to eating for comfort. I was banded on 2/19/08 and hope that the I have and will kick the comfort food moster for good.

Someone gave me smaller clothes
Lucky you, LongTBfree, I'm looking for smaller clothes, too (about ready to get into 16/18). Even signed on to my Bariatric Center's website where they have a clothing exchange. Still nothing. Hang on to them that size will be here before you know it!!!!!!!!!!

Use to be a night time eater
I, too, use to be a night time eater but with my program I can only eat 3x a day. So I eat between 7pm - 9pm (I usually go to be around 11 pm - 12pm). I think it would be even easier for me if I went to bed earlier,

How much weight have you lost?????
Banded 2/19/2008 and as of 3/20/2008 down 13 pounds. Feels like I should be down thirty haha.
