  1. Don't weigh yourself every day. I think you're being too hard on yourself... exercise once a day and find one that you enjoy!

    Nerves are setting in

Stay busy and get more aerobic exercise. Think about how much EASIER this will be after you get the surgery!
  3. I also recommend that book... it helped me a lot!
  4. I am 64 yrs. old also. I was sleeved Sept. 26th, a Friday morning. I went to a surgeon at a Bariatric Center of Excellence. I had minor nausea coming out of anesthesia (usual for me), that was it. By Sunday morning I felt as though nothing had happened. I had no pain. I learned to eat slowly and leave the extra on my plate. I can eat anything I want but find that I want to eat the healthy food. I do eat carbs, but a limited amount; really don't want much of them. I keep track of my Protein grams and the liquids I drink on a spreadsheet. For me this is easy peezy. I'm so glad I did this. No regrets.

    sweet tooth

I buy the "Pure Protein" bars from costco. One package has 3 boxes, each with a different flavor. There is a very fudgy chocolate, a chocolate Peanut Butter and chewy chocolate chip. Fills my sweet tooth, especially with the intense chocolate taste.

How much weight did you lose?

I need to lose approximately the same amount of weight. I'm 5'2" and developed diabetes 4 years ago. It got to the point in which it didn't matter what I did diet-wise, my weight just wouldn't go down. I was sleeved Sept. 26th and have lost 40 lbs. Night and day difference! I feel healthier, my diabetes went away in 2 days, same with sleep apnea and high cholesterol. I can now take in a complete breath and can move around much easier. My stamina is much better. Best of all I feel like I have peace of mind that I'm doing everything I can to be here much longer for my kids and will be more vital.
  13. Resistance bands are good. Also, check out the blog, The World According to Eggface. Shelly has lots of Protein recipes, including ice cream!
  14. Are you getting 60 - 80 grams of Protein and at least 64 oz. liquids each day? If you're not sure, I suggest you keep track somehow. Maybe you're not taking enough in.

    New from Chicago

I had diabetes for 4 years. From the research that I've done, someone has the most chance of getting rid of it for good if they surgery before they go over the 4 year mark with diabetes. After I was sleeved, the surgeon estimated that my blood sugars would go down in 3 - 4 days. They went down in 2 days.

    Approved.....but a huge delay. UGH

@@mimib, I don't understand.... insurance approved, but you have to wait another 4 months? What prerequisites? My understanding is that either the beginning weight is noted, and/or the weight status is frozen as of the date of the approval. I suggest you call either your bariatric coordinator or the insurance company, to make sure any weight differences after the approval even matter at all.

If you like that surgeon, I would definitely let them know the circumstances... I'll bet they'll get you in before your deadline.
  23. @@VSGAnn2014, you take your wedding ring off before weighing yourself! That must be some hunka rock!

    Question about gas

Demand that your surgeon remove the gas before they close you up. Mine did. I had no gas problems or pain.
