    Bitter Sweet

Having pain 2 1/2 months out doesn't sound right! If I were in your shoes, I'd get a 2nd opinion from a different doctor.

    Type 2 Diabetes?

It is best to have the surgery before you make the crossover from pre-diabetes to diabetes because that is the time when some of the pancreas islet cells die. The forum, Research and Statistics on Gastric Sleeve, will give you more info. I think it's very likely you will be cured of diabetes. From the research I've seen, one of the factors in a cure is how long you've had diabetes. you have a better chance if you've only had it for 4 years or less. Good luck! I'm hoping to get rid of it too!

    Emotions + eating

Not a big deal in the large scheme of things. Tomorrow's another day!
  5. I recommend a book, "The Bariatric Foodie Guide to Perfect Protein shakes."
  6. Another go-to place for me is Ebay. You may want to try that and you can let your fingers do the walking!
  7. Since these clothes will be temporary, have you considered looking in a large thrift shop?
  8. Good luck on your surgery! I'm a little curious why you went to Jordan for the surgery... was it the cost? Brave of you to go on your own too!
  9. One book in particular helped me: "Emotional First + Aid" (the bariatric one).

    Long term results

Ignore them. They don't know what they're talking about.

    Too hot outside?

    How about mall walking?

    sour/uncomfortable stomach help?!

Caffeine may be the culprit. It causes your stomach to produce more hydrochloric acid. Try decaf.

    feeling kinda confused

Holy smokes! Sounds like you're doing great! I think you need to confront your boyfriend. Make it clear that you are the one that is dieting, the one that is exercising and following the process/procedures of experts. He needs to back off.

    Lack of energy

My NUT said that, for women, the amount of Protein needs to be at least 60 grams/day. Drinking as much Water as possible is also very important. Congratulations on making it through the last 2 weeks and for making the decision to be healthy! IF you were struggling with your weight and want to minimize the chances of re-gaining lbs. down the road, the following book has helped me a lot: "Emotional First + Aid Kit: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery" by Cynthia Alexander.

    Closet eating

Egads! Nobody needs or wants to be compared with anyone else! I think a good nutritionist with bariatric experience could help you with these questions. Therapy may also help. Best wishes!

    I'm new :)

This is your 3rd day out-- it takes awhile to heal. Meanwhile, just make sure you're drinking as much Water as you can and getting as much Protein as possible. The rest will take care of itself!

    Surgery is done!

That is most likely gas pains from the doctors inflating the body so they can do the surgery. Walking helps dissipate the gas!

    Very disappointed!

It's very sad that she doesn't want to live. It must be very hard for you and your family to watch her self destruct.

    Emotions + eating

I recommend this book. It helped me a lot in separating emotions from my eating. That reduces the struggle. "The Emotional First + Aid Kit: a Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery"

    Protein

I suggest you try making shakes with egg whites or other Protein instead of the protein powder. That might help make it more palatable.

    Surgery is done!

I'm sure you know this... he needs to drink more water!
  22. One thing that sticks out to me is that you are taking in 40g Protein. According to my NUT, the amount should be 60 - 80g of protein, closer to the 60 for women and 80 for men. Maybe taking in more protein may make you feel more satisfied.

    Wake Up Call?

My wakeup call was finding out that the co-morbidities I had: diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver were *progressive*. That prompted my next question, "So where is this heading?" Even though my blood sugars were well-controlled, the doctor said that I would wind up with an insulin pump. I also have sleep apnea. The doctor told me that my weight would shorten my life by 10 years. Holy smokes! That's a LOT of time! Then I thought of my kids and their marriages and potential grandchildren. Didn't want to miss everything OR have my husband and kids hurt big time for 10 years longer than would have been necessary.

    Wake Up Call?

I came across these Powerpoint slides by Dr. Henry Buchwald which mention statistics on bariatric co-morbidities including PCOS. I hope this helps. http://www.t2dmcanadasummit.com/videos/Buchwald1.html [downloadable Powerpoint presentation]
