REVISION to Bypass
tebowfan replied to lindsaybhill's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a revision from lapband to rny 4 months ago. The surgery/ recovery time was easier than the band. I am not the only one I heard this from. Although it takes a while to get pass feeling tired. I could have gone back to work within a week or two. I had only gas pain and took pain medicine once. I am so glad to not have a band any more. -
No worries. I am so glad I could help. Can't wait fir you to be on the great side of the bypass.
-
Maybe even request for dr to call you back.
-
I am so sorry. I did not have problems with liquids. I believe you only do liquids for a day or 2. Let me know how Tuesday goes. I'll say a prayer for you. Ps. I'd call the nurse if you go to long without anything down. You will dehydrate and end up in hospital.

I didn't realize you had a lapband first. I also had a lapband revision to the rny. It does stink bit you will be good to go back to work the next day. You will feel so much better afterwards. Are you taking your vitamins? I am in tx

That is crazy! My doctor knew exactly what was wrong and time didn't matter. So weird. What state are you in?
-
I only needed one. I have heard others needed 2-3 times.
-
No problem. I am 4 months out now and have had no problems since. It's a simple procedure.
-
I also had this occur at around 3 weeks. They put a scope down my throat and where the intestine was reattached they widen it. You will be put under for the scope and you will see a positive difference for sure. The small intestine is just to small for the food to go through. Hope this helps.

FYI.. My Encronologist put me on Synthyroid & said not to take the generic form, cause it doesn't work as well. Also, take on empty stomach and don't eat for an hour. I started feeling better rather quickly. The dizziness I was experiencing & tiredness is gone. I have been on for 1 month. Very important to be rechecked after 3 mos just incase the pendulum swings the opposite way. You don't want to gain weight.

Only lost 10lbs - WTF
tebowfan replied to Roostertail2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, most people gain up to 10 lbs cause of the Iv fluids we get at hospital. Also they air up our stomach so you poofy. Don't worry, very soon the scale will start moving. -
Protein drink choices post surgery
tebowfan replied to Bring It On's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
GNC Lean 25 chocolate protein powder. I Bought at SAMs for $20 savings. I tried bariatric vanilla and did not like the texture. I use water instead of milk as well. My revision from band to bypass was 5-7-14. @@DENISEMIC @@Bring It On -
Only lost 10lbs - WTF
tebowfan replied to Roostertail2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Did you try the chocolate lean 25 protein powder? I drink one ever morning and it's really good. I also prepaid water bottles each day with SF Hawaiian punch powder pouch. This helps me want to drink water. No at a lite & fit Greek yogurt 80 calories, which has 12 grams if protein, I then eat chicken for lunch and then more chicken for supper or another shake. I love sf bluebell Popsicles for added water intake. I tried oatmeal early on like you and had big problems with it. My doctor told me it's not an easy thing to eat early on. I ended up around week 4 or 5 finding out the intestine was to small and dr went in with scope and dilated it making the opening wider and I have had absolutely no problems with anything since. My surgery was May 7th. Let me know if you have any other questions:) -
At walmart. It's about 4 dollars. Sugar free Milk of magnesia. Ask pharmacist where it is. . So worth having. Let me know how it goes.

Extreme fatigue and low energy
tebowfan replied to Sherbear911's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have your thyroid checked. It's not a normal thing they check in bloodwork so you have to ask then to check it. -
What is your favorite form of exercise?
tebowfan replied to Marathongirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Egd, vomiting, and a small pouch.
tebowfan replied to butterflyinwaiting's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My intestine where it was connected to my stomach was to narrow and would not allow regular food to pass through. My doc did an EGD and dilated the intestine opening it up some. This fixed my problem and I have never thrown up since. I have heard others say it took 2-3 times for this to fully work. Maybe, discuss this with your doc. -
white eyebrows after surgery
tebowfan replied to rubyred138's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have your thyroid checked. Fir the first time in my life I have a thyroid problem. One of the side affects is white hairs. -
My mother is 67 and had the lapband a 3-4 years ago. She would throw up all the time. Finally she had most of her fill taken out so now she is gaining the few pounds she lost. The doc said they only allow one wls surgery per patient on Medicare. How are you guys having a revision to bypass? Also, doc said the sleeve is not covered at all with Medicare. Any help would be appreciated to get the ball rolling. Thank you!!

Turns out I had my thyroid checked with blood work and I have hypo-thyroid. Dizziness is one of the leading side effects among weight gain. Encronoligist gave me a pill to level my thyroid and I will have blood work again in October. FYI, thyroid levels are not checked in routine blood work unless you ask fir them to be checked.
-
I also experience dizziness & have since about 2nd week postop.. I was told to try upping my water intake &i Idid, but I still get dizzy when I stand up. I am 3 mos out & had my thyroid checked. I have never had a thyroid problem until now. It's hyper & one if the signs is dizziness. I am scheduled to see an Encronoligist next week.

Hi there, I had bypass surgery on May 7th, 2014. Went to my women visit and bloodwork showed I also have hyperthyroidism. I have never had a thyroid problem & my doc also said it's not related. I have not gone to endocrinologist yet, cause I just found out today. Can you tell me what happened to you after this post? Thank you! Hi. You asked what has happened in the interrum. It was found that I also have multi-goiter toxic nodes and I am not absorbing iodine on one side of the thyroid. Apparently the dominant side is suppressing the iodine absorption on the "weak" side. Anyway, the dr. hasn't treated me yet. She wants to see what happens to the goiter (not anything visible on the outside and I don't even feel it) after 3 months. I'll have an ultrasound in 10 days. In the meantime, I did another series of blood tests. Post-op now 8 months and down nearly 100 lbs. Blood work was great except that I'm still hyperthyroid. I was told that if the thyroid nodule has grown, I'll probably have to have surgery to remove it. Good luck on yours. Thank you for the update. So strange. I am sad you are having to go through all this and the uncertainty of it all. I see an endocrinologist next week for the first time since finding out I have hyperthyroidism. I have been dizzy since about 3 weeks out and I read this is a side affect. Anyways, not losing at rapid pace though. Keep me updated on your next visit. Hugs
