Congrats to you! This IS a huge success no pun intended it feels great and you have even more to come of great things!
  2. Congrats with your success. You inspire others, like me!
  3. You are an inspiration, glad you had the guts to say it out loud. It is good for us to see this for people who have made this great accomplishment. PS You don't even look like the same person, you look so HEALTHY

    Hooray...Tooting of my own horn!

Loved your comment on running. Myself just started jogging from one mailbox to another. Slowly getting to running past 5 mailboxes before I walk again. I'm sure it doesn't look attractive but the key is to keep moving. I feel so accomplished! Note to others like me who have never jogged before. Get some shorts or pants with a drawstring on them otherwise your pants fall down quickly!
  5. Congrats on your weight loss. Thanks for posting your beautiful pics. You have come so far. Remember when u share your stories, it inspires others like me !
  6. I had a hiatal hernia repair with mesh at the same time of my gastric sleeve on 4/28/14. I have not had one problem of reflux since. I used to sleep with 3 pillows propping me up crossing my fingers that it would reduce the nightly reflux. My only problem now is that I am so used to using the pillows it is a slow release to let go of all the pillows. I am down to 2 pillows. Just like the comfort I guess. I have not had to take any Prilosec and any acid reducers since the 2 surgeries. Best 2 surgeries I have ever done.
  7. chocolatr48diva said it best! Stay on track. Follow the plan it works! It doesn't mean you will be perfect. None of us are. I was sleeved on 4/28/14 and down 53 pounds. I walk 4-5 days every evening. I love the feeling if getting in the shower and I notice there is a little bit less of my belly to wash. Weird but exciting for me.

How soon did you return to work?

I took two full weeks off. I'm glad I did. I got the flu one week after surgery. I think if all went well I could have gone back after one week. I was on a lifting restriction of 15 pounds for 4 weeks. I felt good when I went back to work and had to remind myself of the lifting restriction. Good luck!
  9. Just remember your goal. I was a volume eater and still have a hard time only cooking not only for one but only half cup at a time. I don't know if I will ever be perfect. I have very small baby food containers that only hold less than a cup of food. I take one of these cups to work for lunch. I got them at walmart. I got a great tip to buy the small ramekins to use. They are great to use in the microwave. It also gets a good visual on your proportion sizes. Give yourself permission to toss food if needed. You are worth it.

Please Tell Me It Gets Better

It gets better. I am 4 weeks postoperative. Inch by inch your body will get stronger, remember you are in a healing stage from major surgery. Also, remember the goal. I like to read posts from members who are at goal or close to goal-they give me a lift and lots of great tips. Also remember to call your doctor if you need to,they want to make sure you are healing in a positive way.

    Plateau 3 weeks post op?

I realize this are "old" comments but I really enjoyed the post from Pookeyism. I am very new to this but what you wrote was fantastic for someone just sleeved like me. I love the tip of trying on a shirt that is too small. Going to do this today. I love this type of motivation. You inspire me and didn't even realize it. THANKS!

    Four-Week Pre-op Diet?

My surgery is April 28 th and have a 2 week high protein low calorie diet. It seems all surgeons prefer their individual prescriptions. My little tidbit of advice. Call your drs office and speak to the nurse. The are great resources and have lots of helpful hints for you. Remember you are not alone and they would rather discuss facts than having you fret. I work for a bunch of doctors- so I know a little about this. Also you can get a good repore with the doctors staff. Ie RN and RD. Wish u well in your journey.
