    Surgery was on 1/12/15

YES very common, you'll be much better in about 7 days or so.... in the meantime, make sure you walk walk walk walk, it's TRULY the only thing that helps. Good Luck! You'll feel better in no time and your pounds will begin to slide off.

    2 month stall

YUP, 2-month stall completely normal. Up your calories a bit then in a few days, continue your strict regimen and the pounds will continue sliding off.... good luck, don't get discouraged, the weight will plunge off from then on.
  4. YES YES YES I'd do it in a heartbeat and MY ONLY regret is not having it done sooner (I'm 53 and have been overweight since I was 13)! So much so that I don't remember ever in my life being this happy and feeling so healthy and energetic and good! I've had a REALLY good outcome since day one. I walked 30 minutes after returning to my hospital room from my surgery and didn't feel any pain at all, only minor discomfort due to gas -- which walking helped tremendously, more than anything and I did so every 2 hours -- even at nights. I am down 73 lbs, 8 months out, am a size 10 pants (I have NEVER been a size 10 before) and loving my life. Good luck, stay positive, stay excited and follow your doctors advises to a T. Keep us posted.

    Ideas to break a stall

YES, Elode is correct! Up your calories for a day or two and then go back to being really good and the stall breaks! Don't worry though, you'll face a few stalls here and there but the weight does continue to go down afterwards. Good Luck!

    Pre op and terrified!

All this worry will be a thing of the past 5 minutes after you wake up from your WLS! And 7 days after you won't even remember you had surgery and 1 month later, you'll know this was the BEST decision ever! You're going to be healthier and lighter and feel soooo good! Just look forward to this with excitement, not fear. Good luck, stay positive and you'll love it, guaranteed!

Who is scared to give up food?

I am 8 months post-of and I can honestly tell you that i too was depressed about "giving up food", however, I can now also very HONESTLY tell you that you do NOT. I eat EVERYTHING -- not huge amounts but everything. The ONLY thing I don't is soda because of the sugar and the gas is too filling, but I treat myself every weekend to eat whatever I want, in small quantities but during the week I am very good. Once you see that scale go down down down down, food won't be a priority in your life anymore because you will be THAT much happier and feel AMAZING! But... once a few months go and you lose a good amount of weight, you do treat yourself and since a small amount is all you can fit, you're happy because you don't feel that "empty" feeling wanting to eat more more more.... Don't worry, you'll feel back to "normal" soon and WILL enjoy food like you did before WLS! Good luck!!

Post op help needed - hunger

My fave snack 2 weeks out post surgery -- and feeling those "hunger" pains that were probably acid was a string cheese. They satisfied me and were healthy. I STILL snack on them once in while.

  16. The stalls are all in different stages. The first stall was 3 weeks out and that lasted about a week. The second one was about 3 months out and that lasted about 2 weeks and now my last stall (with a few in bettween -- little ones) was last month, it's now been a month and I have not lost anything but have not gained either. I'm ok with it though, I stopped walking as I am sooo busy with work and the holidays but I know it will continue to drop. Happy New Year!

    Looking Forward to New Life!

Yes, it's A WONDERFUL thing to look forward to. I had my WLS almost 8 months ago and remember the excitement and it was ALL WORTH IT!!! Today I am a healthier and much happier person whose only regret is not having done my WLS yearsss ago! Good luck to you, stay positive and before you know it, you too will be happier -- and healthier. Happy New Year!

Scared to Death for Post Op

I'm almost 8 months post op and I have not had ONE single issue. I haven't felt nausea, have not thrown up, have not felt ill at all, as a matter of fact, on the contrary, I feel amazingly AWSOME! True the first 2 weeks are a little rough -- a little what with only liquids at first and it is a little painful once you introduce food and the fact that doing #2 is a little challenging at first but it goes by fast and the weight comes down and you're soooo happy and feeling so light and as everything, it does pass and then you realize that it was not that bad at all. Go into this confidently and with a lot of faith and excitement, all will be well and definetely worth it! Good Luck!!!! Remember to think Protein first, remember to keep sipping your Water and more importantly than anything --- get your walking in after surgery!! It's truly the ONLY thing that helps with the bloating and gas discomfort!

Before and After at 16 Months

    Awsome, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Comeflywithme

    I really want to cheat!

The same thing happened to me sweety -- I craved a burger sooooo bad. So i thought... "life's too short" and with this surgery I'm going to make a committment to make this a lifetime change sooooo, I ate a 1/2 burger lol! Nothing ever tasted soooooo good in my life. It was 2 days before surgery and thinking back, I'm glad I did it, it didn't cause any damage and I treated myself and then was focused from then on.... 7 months later, I am 71 lbs smaller and feeling AMAZING and happy! Good luck!
  21. Comeflywithme

When did you try Steak again?

I am 7 months out and tried it 5 months after surgery, chewed it very well and didn't have a problem at all! I try not to have it very often because it's so hard for your system to digest red meat but I do treat myself about once every two weeks and I'm totally fine with it, no issues at all!
  22. Comeflywithme

    pain on left shoulder

It's ALL related to gas and bloating from surgery. I can't stress enough the importance of WALKING! It's TRULY the only thing that works.... walk walk walk walk walk walk............
  23. YES agree, you are doing just fine... there will be plenty of stalls.... I'm out 7 months and on my 6th month only lost ONE single little tiny pound the entire month, now it began to slide off again.... Good luck, continue the good work!!
  24. Comeflywithme

    Pressure/Gas 3 days post op

WALK WALK WALK WALK WALK WALK WALK WALK --- maybe try Gas X strips but WALKING is really the ONLY thing that releives it.... Good luck, stay positive and WALK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. I'm going to tell you EXACTLY, WORD FOR WORD what my primary physician told me when I told him I was thinking of having WLS. He said "Congratulations -- you have just made a decision to save your own life and give yourself better quality of life. You are more at risk of death and so many other complications from obesity than the weight loss surgery"! So there you have it. Read and check statistics and more importantly, follow your heart. Not your friends, not your husbands, not your mothers.... YOURS, it's YOUR decision! In MY case, getting WLS 7 months ago TODAY was the BEST decision I have ever made in my life! I am 53 years old in 1 week from today and feel like I'm 25. I'm down 70 lbs and feel amazing, healthy and my ONLY regret is not having it done yearsss ago. Good luck, speak to doctors, read about WLS and follow your heart. God Bless!
