I am a huge fan of beans but eat them a lot less than I would like due to the carbs.

My revelation
I'm over 5 weeks post op. I was eating some Light & Fit vanilla Greek yogurt, when I had one of those forehead slapper moments. If I can only eat a cup or two of food per day, I am not going to waste it on anything I don't enjoy. Ever again. The yogurt went into the trash. So will most of the Protein powders and shakes taking up room in my kitchen. No more EGG BEATERS, nasty stuff. I want to savor my food and not just get my protein grams. I've spent much of my life eating things because they were supposed to be better for me. No more. So...now what? I'm gonna have to put some thought into this. I go grocery shopping on Saturdays. We shall see.

Calorie intake... am I eating too much?
I think we have a lot in common. I am five weeks post op. I would love to have a firm idea of a calorie range. My doc won't commit! Just make sur you're getting your protein and water, he says. Well, I am. But I can't help paying attention to all the data on mfp. I wish I had words of wisdom to offer, but we are I. The same boat.

Keeping finger crossed!
Good luck. The more you read and become informed the better you will do afterward, I believe.

A bad side effect from bariatric surgery
I have this on occasion since surgery, but never to the point of passing out. It IS unpleasant.

How many calories did u have on soft food phase?
My nut has said repeatedly not to worry about calories, and just to focus on protein and liquids. So I'm trying to follow that advice. However, on mfp it kind of forces you to focus on calories. So it's hard and I don't have a good answer, but I think you have to be way low.

Drinking after eating
I Was told not to drink until a half hour after eating. But after a half hour there is no way my stomach would be ready for liquids. I assume it's just taking a long time to empty now that I'm on soft foods. Or it could be that I'm eating too fast, which is something I struggle with and I'm trying to work on. I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Today I had some Breakfast and took my Water bottle with me, intending to drink on my way to work. I have a 50 minute drive and there was no way I could drink anything, in spite of the fact that I was really thirsty.

Hard to feed your kids?
My kids are not little but nonetheless I've always cooked for them. I started warning them months out that there would be a long period of time when I would not be cooking and they would be getting a lot of frozen pizza and hot dogs, etc. I also hired someone to come in and clean for a few weeks, which I'm really glad I was able to do. So all that was left was laundry and the dog.

I hate the waiting! Loosing my mind.....
It will be worth the wait. I tried two different hospital programs before I settled on the third, where I had my surgery. I felt so much more comfortable with the staff. I'm really glad I trusted my instincts. The other two might have been ok, but you need to go where your gut tells you. Good luck.

Psych eval with Social Worker
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. Any licensed behavioral health professional is deemed qualified, as long as they have a contract with your particular insurance company. And believe me,they won't see you if they aren't already approved to accept your insurance (unless you are paying out of pocket, in which case it won't matter anyway.) social workers, psychologists and counselors are equivalent.

I am 5'0" 251lbs And Considering the surgery
I only wish I had done this a long time ago instead of doing the dieting thing over and over and over and over and over.

Gratitude
I had my surgery just over a month ago. I am down 24 lbs. I follow my post op instructions faithfully. I would love to be one of those people who loses quickly, but I'm not. However, I feel so fortunate just to be able to have this surgery, to have little out of pocket costs, and to have had a smooth recovery. At no other place or time in history would such a thing even be possible. I am one lucky person indeed.

supplements and protein
I'm not sure what you mean by supplements.

1st Month
I'm joining the club. Minimal weight lost after surgery. Logic tells me I will lose eventually, considering how little I'm eating, how much water I'm drinking, and how much time spent walking. But it's hard when I read about the major losses of others. I seriously considered staying off these forums because I sometimes find it more discouraging than helpful.

Joint replacement surgery
My left knee is keeping me from being able to do much in the way of exercise, and the bariatric surgeon cautioned me that even weight loss is not going to improve the level of pain. So I know this is in the cards for me at some point, and I'm worried about the recuperation. I'm especially concerned about how long I might be out of work.

Jersey people
I am not in Jersey, but from the Easton PA area--just over the Delaware. Did you check the "local" groups? I suggest using the search feature. I'm sure you will find something.

What are you eating on your second week for soft foods
What I am eating is not that different from the pureed foods, except that I'm not pureeing them. Today I brought to work: Greek yogurt, cooked fish, and I have "back up" foods like canned white meat chicken and some lentil Soup, plus I keep one serving of Protein powder around. Tonight at home I have Chicken Cacciatore in the crock pot, and you know how the crock pot overcooks things--so it will be nice and soft when I get to it.

Spending a day in court tomorrow
Because of my job I got a subpoena and have to be in court all day. I am just over four weeks out. I'm on soft foods. I actually got the subpoena a few months back and totally forgot about it. Now I'm trying to figure out what in the world I can bring into the courthouse to eat. Suggestions would be helpful. I don't eat protein bars yet.

Thinking of Gastric Sleeve in Mexico!
In general I didn't find the recuperation to be difficult at all. But I think if I had to spend hours in the car I would have had much more discomfort and fatigue. Good advice to stay there longer.

Six Months Today

Sports bra
I'm curious about what you like about the bras you recommended. This one I'm wearing is going in the trash. I stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few things and while I was walking down the aisle it started riding up and twisting around so that the girls were hanging out the bottom and side! Plus, it's way too warm.

scale problems
I have a tanita that was under $50. I love it. If you read the reviews on amazon I'm sure they are uniformly positive. I would buy another one in a heartbeat.
