Protein Shake and Calcium Supplement, I need a new one!
I tKe citrical petites, recommended. by my nut. They're not hard to get down. I pretty much despise all protein powders except chime, and that's high in caffeine as well as expensive. I a. Managing to get my protein from food, thank goodness.

Now I understand why my doc wanted me to take more time off
I felt fine after surgery, and still do, about 6 weeks out. I went back to work after 8 days. No problems. But what I am just realizing is that if I had taken more time off to get used to this tremendous change, it would have been a better adjustment. At work, focusing on the demands of my job, it has been easy to ignore the signals from my sleeve. I wouldn't have been eating at my desk for the past month. I am just now getting the hang of hungry vs. empty vs (maybe) stomach acid and even satiety vs full. I am also now becoming more aware of the desire to eat vs needing to eat. I just think that if I had been home and focusing on myself and my recovery, this would have become more clear weeks earlier. Regardless, I'm glad I'm finally catching on.

Scared
I guess I don't see what you would gain about reading about complications. My surgeon thoroughly reviewed all the possible complications and risks of surgery with me prior to surgery as part of informed consent. We know the odds going in. I don't want to say "just put on a happy face." I did my living will before surgery, just in case. I'm a realist. Of course there's a chance that something could go wrong. But the chance of everything being fine is SO MUCH greater. I wish you the best. Focus on what you stand to gain, which is enormous. That's my advice.

Appealing- contact your senator!
I had success contacting the state dept of insurance. That was not about wls, but I had my problem resolved within days. Insurance companies do not want to entertain the idea of losing their license to sell insurance. This was in nj.

Is there anyone out there who regrets getting the sleeve?
I have no regrets, despite the fact that none of this is easy. I'm glad I did it and sorry I waited till I'm 59 years old.

6 months out and doing great but I need help in this one area!
My hairstylist did recommend the biotin and not the shampoos. But she said that the biotin makes ALL your hair grow, not just the hair on your head. So be prepared. I am doing a lot of plucking and tweezing, for starters.

so my surgeon said... Please help me.
Would it help to get a second opinion? Some docs are more willing to advocate for you with the insurance companies.

Tummy Issues?
In 58 years I never had any problems with heartburn. Not even when pregnant. Then about three months before surgery I started getting heartburn every day, sometimes intensely. I couldn't figure out what was going wrong. I was scared because of all I'd read about worsening upper GI symptoms after surgery. In the end I think it must have been a combination of stress and my ever increasing weight. After surgery--voila! No problems!
