  1. Hi everyone.
I’m 4 years post op sleeve. I’ve been getting acid reflux since 6 months after the procedure. Never had it before.
After multiple meds and finally an upper GI done 3 weeks ago i now have GERD. Big deal right? Well, I’m taking protonics 40mg, but, I just heard that causes cancer.
What doesn’t right? Lol I just want to know, is the only permanent relief going to a by-pass?

  2. Hi!
Today is actually my 4 year anniversary, I’m also sober 11 years sober.
I do also find myself judging, I mean, we know what it’s like. I tried Intermittent fasting. Hell no lol I was STARVING!!! Lol
I found losing weight was harder than quitting smoking and drinking together.
I still have difficulties with emotional eating. But realize it when it does happen and I step back.

  3. What makes me successful long term is.... never stop believing in yourself. Corny yes, but helps me. I talk to myself in a mirror ( I know , I know ). But seeing what I’m saying and thinking what I’m saying are two different things.
I’ve been down for a good 1.5 years and was about to say “F this” but, I prayed and prayed and started to believe in myself.

  4. I’m trying to find a top that will give me the lift and support like no other lol

I got a few from Hapari, although nice, not enough lift. My breast’s went from a 44 DD to a tiny 36C.

I feel deflated and want something to help my self esteem this summer.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

  5. Did they check your gallbladder? Your symptoms could be that. Mine were similar, I had an upper GI (barium swallow) and it turned out to be a hiatal hernia. I’m getting it repaired in 3 weeks.
Good luck and get your protonix filled it helps sooo much!

Funny, my name is Tracy and I too was a”76” baby.
I actually had my gallbladder removed 10 mo this post-sleeve surgery. I got off my butt and filled it. It’s helped a lot.
I’m still wondering why I have having such pains?
One can’t possible take Protonics forever, right?
Ugh. Hiatal hernia huh? That sounds painful.

  6. It’s been a long time since I was 15 days out. I’m 3 years out and get head hunger daily, always have since surgery. If I counted the times I was actually hungry in a day? Like, 2 times. The rest is in my head. I can’t stand it. Or emotional eating when I get stressed or aggravated. My nutritionist said I need to find out why I go to food as comfort. I see a therapist but, haven’t really pin pointed why I do as of yet.
You’ll get there, work the program like they say and exercise. Because you don’t want to be in my shoes 3 years down the road saying “ WTH happened??”
Good luck to all the new post ops [emoji173]️

  7. Hello everyone

I had the sleeve done 12/2/14. I lost around 80-85lbs.

I’ve been having GERD since I’d say, 6mo. PO.

That being said. Two nights ago before I went to bed I had a strange chest discomfort. Cr there’s right in the middle. I thought nothing of it and went to bed.

I woke up with an even worse chest pain and my neck started to cramp and I felt light headed. I was like “ Holy ****, I might be having a heart attack!”

So I went to the ER. EKG fine, cardiac labs fine, chest X-ray fine, vitals good and bp 124/66.

Every thing fine. I told the Er doc about my health history and past surgeries. He offered Nitro, I was like, “ isn’t that gonna bottom me out?”

    He said “yeah probably”

I was terrified. I know I shouldn’t be disputing my care in the ER, lol, but I wanted to rule out GI first.

He sent the nurse In With Mallox and lidocaine.

I drank it, it helped slightly. Then returned. He said to call my surgeon and update him and see if I can get Into see him.

Since then I’ve been feeling nauseous and just plain old blaa.

It’s Saturday and his office is closed. I dropped off a script for protonix and I’m picking it up today.

I was suppose to get this filled two weeks ago.

My priorities are not focused on me lately and I know I should have filled it when I should have.

Has anyone had this issue before? He said it was indigestion. It felt like no indigestion I’ve ever had in my life. No burning, like acid in my throat. Just chest pains and neck pain. Anyone felt this before?

Get your metabolism tested at a local university. Find someone that puts you on a table and has you be still for about 30 minutes. That is the most accurate. It should run around $50. Then you can know what your metabolism is, without guessing.
I have a normal metabolism even after losing a lot of weight. Some people do, some people don't. It is better to be tested and be sure, than just guessing.
Your NUT isn't taking into account that people who are morbidly obese gain a lot of muscle to carry all that extra weight, and whole you lose some muscle when losing fat, if you are meeting your Protein goal, you should maintain most of your muscle.
If you want to lose more weight, tracking and weighing your food really helps.

How would the metabolism be tested? I’ve never heard of that. I’m about to call UNH to get this doNE STAT!

  11. I woke up in a lot of pain. Now that they have it under control, I am feeling pretty good. Once they got me to my room, I walked several laps around the floor before getting into bed. I think most of my pain is just glass pain. I am so happy right now.

    Awesome!
! I remember waking up from surgery so sick to my stomach it was unbearable. All I wanted to do was vomit. No pain though, just terrible nausea. I’ll never forget that.

  12. Well, you probably don't want to hear what i have to say. I had very bad heartburn when I had the lapband. When I revised to sleeve in 2011 I had an endoscopy they said my pouch was dialated but no serious issues other than that. Since being sleeved I have had occasional heartburn - but NOTHING compared to the 10 years of the lapband. I was controlling the heartburn very well with meds, and at other times didn't need meds at all and so didn't think too much of it until a few months ago. Suddenly, a bit of heartburn started feeling like a terrible pain in my stomach - like this isn't just a little irritation anymore. I had an endoscopy - and it turns out that now I have Barretts esphogatristis. The biopsy showed no cancer, but after I finish my current round of PPI, I will need some other kind of treatment. Surgery has been mentioned. Revision to RNY has been mentioned. I will know more in a few days....

As you can imagine, I am not too thrilled with the prospects.

Bottom line, talk to the doctor, maybe keep a log of symptoms leading up to your appointment and they may decide you should be scoped.

I have worried about Barrett’s esophagus. They have been aware of my heartburn since 18 p/o. I’m 3 years out. I’m gonna ask for one. I’ve tried all the meds, I want to know. As you know it burns like hell

  13. This has happened quite a few times since surgery ( 11/14) having heart burn so bad I vomit, or come close too. I never had any issues with heart burn prior to surgery. My gall bladder was removed 1 yr post op. It’s actually happening more often since.

I was taking carafate and Prilosec for a while. I really just wanted an Endo but they wanted to try this method first and I was afraid to ask for one. I’m going for a 3 year f/u ( that I’ve put out off since December) maybe I will ask then. Because last night was by far the worst that is gS ever been at night. Unusually it’s during the day when I’m not laying down.

End result of a lot of heartburn P/O sleeve?

    Any help would be appreciated
