August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
Pizzicato and Salsa, thanks for the kind words. I am happy with my results but still wanted to make that goal. I'm not giving up and have doubled my workout time from now till Jan 1st. Lets see if that can jumpstart me again.

Ate solid foods immediately after fills-feeling no restriction
My dr doesnt use it, but flouro is like an xray where they can watch the Fluid pass thru the band when you drink. Some dr's use this to measure how much of a fill to give. I think this is how it works.

Mary, not sure if it matters, but I found that if I ate just before getting a fill, that I only got a small one. Maybe the stomach was full or something. Just a thought though

Fills....Round 3 today

Ate solid foods immediately after fills-feeling no restriction
I would wait a while. I have had 3 fills and my restriction has been kicking in around 2 weeks after the fill. I still do the liquid, mushie thing for 2 days after a fill. Why do anything that might cause me problems. Are your fills with flouro? Maybe get one like that to "see" if everything is ok.

Two weeks banded...Need Advice!!!!!
Does this still happen with clear liquids? I cant believe that some doctors dont do a liquid diet after surgery. I would guess its from eating too quickly and not chewing enough. Either that or the band is tight, even without a fill. Be careful during this time. Now is when the band needs to settle and adhere to the outer stomach wall, to prevent slipping later.

Fills....Round 3 today
Yummmm, time for some chicken broth. I think the worse part about fills is the 1 day of liquids and 1 day of mushies that follow the fill..LOL

Followup to shakes ?-naseus/lightheaded on pre-op diet?
Thats great news. The hardest thing for me to give up was Diet Dr. Pepper. I was a true addict, drinking sometimes 8-10 per day. Now I do the same with Crystal light..LOL Take it one day at a time. Judging by your posts, I think you will do great. You seem very motivated to make the change and start on the Journey of a lifetime. Plus we are all here to give you any needed support...Dave

Fills....Round 3 today
Usually my restriction only lasts a few days. I have become very aware of what I eat and how much. Maybe too much though. I still have my weak times, just like others. My dr just checks my weight loss and then asks me if I want a fill. This last one was only 1cc, since the loss is still going good. I have only had one PB and dont want to repeat it. I see you are doing real good with your loss too. I would ask your dr for a larger fill, just to keep all of your good work from coming to a stop....Dave

Fills....Round 3 today
I may try that one time, just to SEE the band at work. LOL

in pain need some answers...please!
Candy, congrats on the new band. Really, it does get better. Once the gas pain goes away, its easier to concentrate on the hunger part.

DID you GAIN OR LOSE WEIGHT POST-OP BEFORE YOUR FIRST FILLS.
I lost pretty good before my first fill. I was so nervous about damaging the band that I stayed on a srtict eating plan, got used to it and am still doing it. Seems to work for me. Total lost since surgery on 8/30 is over 80 lbs, so I must be doing it rght...LOL

Am I making protein shakes correctly?
Kimmi, I added a little lowfat yogurt fo mine and that really thickened they up. I am still drinking them today. I use whey protein from Walmart with skim milk and the yogurt. Choclate is awesome

Followup to shakes ?-naseus/lightheaded on pre-op diet?
It does get better. Probably the caffeine you are missing. I did the pre=op for over 3 weeks just to get ready for the liquid diet. Make sure you are getting a lot of liquids and that will also help with the hunger....Good luck, I'm sure you will do fine Dave

Fills....Round 3 today
And I cant wait. Yep that sounds wierd that I cant wait to go and get stuck with a needle. Maybe I am becoming a fill addict:omg::omg: Maybe i can start a new support group called Fill-anon. Actually, I am just happy that ts time for another....LOL

Restriction Days After Fill...Is This Right?
Sorry, but your doctor was partially wrong. I have had 2 fills so far and they both got tighter around 2 weeks after being filled. People are all different but I have seen many post that the band got tighter days after the fill.
-
FIll and not filling full. Help!
I'm not sure why, but I had no restriction until about 2 weeks after my second fill. The first did nothing at all. My dr told me this would be the case and she was right. For now, you will have to rely on some willpower with the amounts you can eat. Some people get restriction from the first fill. Boy are they the lucky ones...LOL
-
Overeating before first fill?
You are at the time when willpower has to take over. What I did was measure the food before I sat down to eat and when it was gone, I was done. Lots of liquids will also help right now. I was pretty lucky to have no appetite for a long time after surgery. Take around 30 min to eat each meal. make sure you are eating healthy choice foods and you should'nt have any problems. It does get easier once the restriction comes and you are on a more normal type of food....Dave
