jminni011 reacted to TexasguyEP in 4th week post op have not lost weight sense week one.
Please don't be discouraged. We're in this for the long haul and it definitely isn't a quick fix. I'm three weeks post op and to be frank with you, I don't focus on the scale. The last time I checked the scale was when I had my two week follow up appointment Thursday of last week. But my goal for now is to hit my Water and Protein intake and of course incorporate a healthy dose of exercise. So,just from personal experience don't just focus on weight lost. Maybe weight yourself every other week or once a month. Best of luck!

I am very scared too! For a lot of the reasons you mentioned. I have been overweight and obese since puberty and I have no idea how I could possibly adjust to... not being that. Haha. And I'm scared of the tiny chance I might die from complications, too. I'm worried that I won't change my life enough, that I'll still fail, that I'll hate not being able to eat the way I do now. So many fears and insecurities!
But I am also scared of gaining another 50 pounds in the next 5 years, and I am scared of getting type ii diabetes like the rest of my family, and I am scared of always having to be the fat friend in my group and of never getting to shop in "normal" stores and not getting the chance to learn to have fun being active.
My psychologist said something really great to me on my last meeting with her. She said "it's good that you're scared, because it means you take this seriously and you understand what a big, irreversible change you're about to make. if you weren't scared, i'd be worried you didn't actually understand what you were doing and were unprepared for it."
So maybe try thinking of it that way?
Either that or just get post-ops to tell you all their tales of wanting to leap off the gurney before they got put under and call the whole thing off... and how post-surgery they are so happy they pushed through the fear.

Tomorrow is my big day. I'm so scared about complications but at the same time I am excited about a new life. One where I can keep up and play with my two year old son, where my autoimmune disease isn't triggered all of the time and where I don't have to where clothes that I feel help me to "hide". I don't where makeup or jewelry or get my hair done because I just want to hide from everyone, to blur in to the background. I don't want to be like that anymore. I don't want my family to have to say "I know you don't want to be in the picture". I hate that person. I'm glad to be getting the chance to show the world that I am a person and I don't have to hide anymore. But that scared feeling still lies there.

I'm scheduled for 2/16. I go from being so excited & confident to literally almost into a panic & want to begin to cry from the actually thought of surgery & anesthesia being put to sleep. Anyone else ?

I'm telling you, in 3 days from now, it will be completely different. Until then, just constantly keep a water bottle with you (I remember Crystal Lite going down much easier) and sip like it's your job. I just got off the treadmill and drank a half bottle of Water within 2 minutes... I promise, IT GETS SO MUCH BETTER! Just keep sipping, just keep sipping.
