  1. After procrastinating for 6 weeks, I've finally established a routine that I think I can stick with. The coach at my school told me I should see results with it. I hope he knows what he's talking about. I use the weight machines in the school gym for 15 minutes during my free period. I hope to get up to 30, but I'm nowhere near strong enough yet. At home, I ride my recumbent bike for 20-30 minutes After that, I do a short kettlebell workout for 5-10 minutes.
  2. For the first time in almost 10 years, I was able to buy jeans that weren't plus sized! I'm so happy!

I got my surgery date when meeting with the nurse practitioner. It was 16 days after my preop appointment. I don't know if that's the norm, but I was glad to get it scheduled that soon.

Dr. Weaver is my surgeon too! I'm nervous and excited. My pre-op appointment is 4/14 and I was wondering what to expect. I'm assuming it's the same as Dr. Wegner, so just in case they haven't told you (they didn't tell me), expect to be there all day. You first wait around for a group meeting with the nutritionist to go over the liver shrink diet, then you see the doctor and the nurse practitioner. After that I was sent to the hospital for preop testing and to meet with the financial planner. I think I was there from 9-2 that day.

It's been awhile since this topic was active, but I just wanted to add that Dr. Wegner did my surgery on March 13. I really like him and all his staff. For anybody new here looking at surgeons in Memphis, let me say that I absolutely DO NOT recommend Dr. Woodman. I used him for my lap band in 2004, and unless he's undergone a complete personality change, he was horrible. He's probably a good surgeon, but I left his office in tears every time I went. He's just mean and doesn't understand why anybody should have a weight problem. Avoid him at all costs!
  6. So far I haven't found a protein shake that I like. I do, however, like milk. I was thinking about mixing some nonfat dry milk into some skim milk to up the protein content and perhaps adding a dash of vanilla for flavor. Has anyone tried this? Good or gross?
  7. It's 11 days since my surgery, and my blood pressure has been running fine without any medication. I went to see my family doctor today to see what he wanted to do about my meds. He told me that I didn't need them anymore! He said to keep checking it regularly at home, but he didn't think I'd need them anymore. I've been on bp meds for over 5 years, so it's great not to have to worry about that anymore!
  8. I'm excited to try the unjury products. So far I haven't found a Protein drink that I like, so maybe this will do the trick.
  9. I ordered from their website: http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/unjury-protein/unjury-starter-pack.html
  10. Okay, I just made up the chocolate splendor and it was wonderful! Light years above what I've been drinking. For those that have used both, how do unjury shakes compare in taste to Premier Protein? I'm going to costco this weekend, but I don't want to be stuck with 18 shakes I don't like.
  11. I made hamburger vegetable Soup in the crockpot tonight. It was my first time to cook anything since before my surgery. My husband and kids loved it, and so did I. I used my stick blender to puree mine, and even though it didn't look great, it was absolutely wonderful. After a week of liquids, it was nice to have some good home cooking. I used extra lean ground beef and added some red Beans in it for extra Protein. I've already pureed a little bowl for my lunch tomorrow.
  12. I started using it yesterday and I was wondering if there was some setting on it so it knows you've had bariatric surgery? I'm already annoyed by it telling me I'm starving myself.
  13. Is there a way to customize serving sizes? I don't like that when I search for a food that I can only enter in amounts in the unit they give me. When I tracked food through the weight watchers app, you could change the unit from ounces, cups, tablespoons, etc.
  14. I ate the soup yesterday with no problems. It was wonderful. I just ate the broth and the little chunks of tofu since my doctor told me to go ahead and start with soft foods.
  15. My husband can't take me to my post op appointment Wednesday and I don't think I should be driving the 80 miles myself yet. In order to get my mother in law to take me, I had to say we'd go to pf chang's, which is right next door to my doctor. I'll still be on my liquid phase, but one day away from liquids/soft foods. I noticed my handouts had egg drop soup listed as a suggestion during this phase, but not hot and sour. According to the company's website, the hot and sour has less fat and calories. Is there some reason to avoid the hot and sour if I just eat the broth?
  16. I'm getting mine removed tomorrow. Just wondering if most surgeons give you something first or if it's not that bad.
  17. This is exactly what it was like. The weirdest feeling I've ever experienced. It only took about 2 seconds, though, and it was all over. I felt 1000 times better immediately after it was out!
  18. I've had mine for a week. I'm so ready to get rid of it!
  19. Thanks so much for the info!

    Post Op March 2014

I'm four days post op now, and if it weren't for this drain, I'd be doing great! I hate this thing! I go Wednesday to see my doctor and get it removed, then I think I'll feel human again. I still haven't had a bowl movement since surgery. I'm thinking about taking some stool softeners today. Between the pain meds and zofran, I'm sure I could use the help.
  21. I went to all my pre-op appointments alone, which didn't bother me in the least, but driving that far right after surgery scares me a little.
  22. Into a protein shake or in milk?
  23. This is my first post, but I'm looking for some words of encouragement for my surgery tomorrow. I hope I'm posting this in the right place. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30, so that means getting up around 3 a.m. I'm so excited to start this new part of my life! Any words of wisdom?

    Surgery tomorrow

Thanks everyone. I came home today. I'm more sore than I was at the hospital but I'm attributing that to the 1 1/2 hour trip that was at times bumpy. Today I had my first liquids other than water, which was nice. I didn't come anywhere near getting in my 60 g of protein today, but I didn't start until around 4 with anything other than water. I'll do better tomorrow.
