  1. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with laser lipo. There's a great Groupon deal today, and I'm tempted to buy it if it actually works.
  2. I'm about to go say goodbye to my little summer vegetable garden. Even though it was small, it represented a huge NSV for me. Normally in the summer I don't get outside except when absolutely necessary. This year, I was outside every day watering, weeding and picking in my garden. I made enough of my awesome pickles to be able to sell enough to pay for the tiller we bought, and I made several pints of great salsa. I discovered that I like baked okra just as much as fried, and I made a variety of flavored kale chips. It's been a great experience, and I can't wait to do it again on an even larger scale next year! Now I have to go out and pull up the remnants of the plants and cover the surface with cardboard so I won't have to fight the grass as much next year!
  3. I had my six month appointment at my surgeon's today. All my numbers were good, but the nurse practitioner asked me how much Protein I was getting. I told her that in the last month I've been getting between 80-90 most days, and she told me to back it down to around 60 because I wouldn't lose weight with that much protein. Except that I have been losing weight. What are your thoughts on this ?
  4. I went to play tennis tonight and realized when I got there that I forgot to put my FitBit on when I changed clothes. Grrrrr!
  5. Thanks everybody! It was a great day. My husband and kids and I went for a late lunch in Memphis to celebrate at a new tapas place I've been wanting to try. Tapas places are such a treat now because I get to feel like I'm eating a normal amount of food. Here's a picture taken as we were leaving.
  6. Today is my six month surgiversary and my birthday! I've lost 67 pounds and still have 35 more to reach my goal! I can't believe it's been six months!
  7. I got a fitness ball for my birthday today, and I just attempted my first workout. I had trouble with it rolling around while I was doing my exercises. Is this normal or do I have it overinflated?
  8. My husband surprised me with a Fit Bit for my birthday today. I've got it all set up, but it already showed I burned 600 calories as soon as it was set up? What's up with that? Also, I've been using My Fitness Pal to track my food ever since my surgery. Should I just abandon my account on there and log everything on my Fit Bit?
  9. Today's my birthday, and these are some of my presents from my husband and kids. I'm glad they're supportive of my fitness goals!
  10. I bought a pair of size 12 jeans at a consignment store recently waiting for the day I could fit in them. Today was finally my day! This is the first time since 1989 that I've been in a size 12, and these aren't acid washed!
  11. To me, the fact that I'm no longer enjoying eating is the biggest key to my success. I was always a "live to eat" person rather than an "eat to live." This is a much healthier outlook for me to have. I hope it stays this way.
  12. My arms are driving me crazy! I can't stand the way they look, and I'm doing targeted arm workouts every day. Does anyone have a great arm workout to share?
  13. My stylist is recommending fusion extensions. She said those are the best kind in her opinion.
  14. I need to have this done, too. I got a ring last year for being named the Arkansas Adviser of the Year from the Arkansas Scholastic Press Association, and it's getting really loose. It basically looks like a class ring, so I'm afraid that it won't look good once I size it. It's really starting to twirl around on my hand, though.
  15. I've always wanted to have long hair, but my hair's so thick, I always get frustrated and cut it before it gets too long. I've decided that I'm going to get hair extensions when I reach my goal, which is about 35 pounds away. About 2 1/2 months ago, I started having the obligatory hair loss that accompanies surgery. I think it's starting to taper off now, but I'm worried about getting extensions in a few months. If I'm not rapidly losing hair when I am ready to get the extensions, will it be okay? I know this is probably a silly question, but I have absolutely no experience with hair extensions.
  16. Unjury unflavored is my go-to, but I'm going to start trying others as well.
  17. Good luck! The first two days are the worst, then it's a wonderful ride to your new life!
  18. I'm positive that I had pretty bad apnea before my RNY. I know that weight loss can make it much better, but I'm debating about asking my doctor to refer me for a sleep study before the end of the year since I've reached my out of pocket max on my insurance due to my surgery. Thoughts?
  19. Rural Northeast Arkansas
  20. I'm 5 foot 6, and started at 252. I'm at 185 now. Here's my thread where I shared my most recent pictures. http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/319003-6-month-pictures/
  21. Thanks so much everyone!
