Chicken, beef, pork, fish?
I was told shrimp first, then fish (choose a light moist fish). Then ground turkey, or other lean meats. Any sausage is going to have a higher fat content and probably not sit well. I was told to wait until 6 months to try chicken. I don't eat much meat so I tried chicken 3 or 4 months out and was okay, but I know I could have been a horrible experience. No matter your choice make sure its moist, lean and you chew it WELL. Good luck! also if it does not sit well you can always try again in a few weeks.

Chinese
for Pho, I would have shrimp. Chicken can be very hard for most.

Chinese
my go to was always egg drop soup, or any soup.....I would have my protein before I went.

I had surgery almost 10 months ago, October 14, 2014. I hit my goal weight this weekend August 1,2015 (darn ticker won't update) As far as exercise, I have always just walked. Once I could walk more I did. then after I was much closer to goal I started running. I put most my focus on diet and the weight just came off. Protein first ALWAYS, and keep up on hydration. Once the eating and hydration is good, bump up the exercise but don't go too crazy, you will have plenty of time for that

OCTOBER 2014
This is from yesterday morning, it's a post I shared on the FB page that I admin, this was before my odd day at the Water park LOL I did it! I did it! I did it!!! I have been stuck at 138.4 for 20 days....I really wasn't too upset because that was already past surgeons goal of 140 but I was wanting to at least ONCE see my goal on the scale of 137. Yesterday I finally lost half a pound after 20 days and was 137.9 I was all kinds of happy with that!!! THEN..... This morning I woke up to 135.7!!! I moved the scale all over the bathroom to make sure it was flat and every time it was the same!! ???????????????????????? yay ???????????????????????????????? Yesterday I truthfully rested and then slept more than I have slept in months last night. Maybe my body just needed a break ????????

OCTOBER 2014
So I have never really cared and always wore whatever I wanted, and sometimes that was even a bikini. At my heaviest I never really got any comments, I'm sure people stared or looked but I never noticed, mostly because I just don't care. But I had an odd experience yesterday at the Water park with my boyfriend. He and I have both lost over 100 pounds each, he did not have surgery so he doesn't have any scars but still has the skin and stretch marks. I was in a bikini and he was in regular swim trunks, he was going to wear a shirt and I asked "why?!" I forget not everyone is as carefree as me. I am used to little kids saying "hey your tummy looks funny" or "hey your tummy looks like my mommies", but I am not used to adults saying anything. 1st encounter we were standing in line and a very young woman (a little socially awkward) said "hey what happened to your stomach, I was confused looked down and laughed because I forget I don't look like everyone else. Then I told her I lost over 100 pounds. She smiled and said "oh I thought were going to say you had like 8 kids" hahaha no kids yet. (Her mom was very heavy set and I could tell she was embarrassed, I smiled and continued dance around to the music) The second encounter was a bit more interesting. My boyfriend and I were sitting having a water and Protein bar break, and I was ready to go ride more slides, he was taking longer and laughing at me because I kept dancing in front of him singing " I'm ready I'm ready" "come on slow poke" when a man walked over to us as we were walking towards him and said "you guys used to be heavy set? I said yes, he said "I just wanted to tell you, you both look really amazing" I smiled and really didn't know what to say.......it was odd but also must have taken guts come up to someone and say that. Both encounters had me a little perplexed but still proud of my journey and have no plans of hiding my body any time soon!! Hahaha

OCTOBER 2014
I have been struggling with my night time snacking really bad! That was a bad habit I had before surgery and I know what I ate and quantity was a big reason for my weight. I have tried really hard this week to not eat after dinner..... Because I let this habit back in my life I now have to struggle to get it OUT, it is so hard, I seriously have an argument with my self in my head "DAMN IT YOUR NOT FUCKING HUNGRY" "BUT Cereal IS SO GOOD"...... sigh I look completely different, but it is the same woman I am arguing with...... I don't know if I am self sabotaging because I am 1 pound from goal or what....

ISOPURE....wtf am I supposed to do with this?
I could tolerate it on over Ice, I was told to Water it down AND put it over ice.....It sounded like to much work and I only had to use it one day and then I went back to my regular Premier Protein shakes.

Severe dehydration
not to that extreme, but I do get light headed and room goes black for a half a second. I have to be very diligent about my Water and I stick with Smart water to help with absorption.

compliments...
I struggle with the word "skinny" I hate it. It does not feel like a compliment to me. I know just my own personal issue, but it annoys me to no end!! "OMG look how skinny you are!" NO I AM HEALTHY! I have never desired to be skinny, so I struggle to accept that I am.

Spouse and daughter of sleever - questions about food first two weeks
my biggest thing I requested, and still do, are my trigger foods. chocolate chips Cookies, Peanut M&Ms, cake, bread, and my boyfriend and I discuss during each shopping trip what I can and can not handle being in the house. Each week and day is different for me. Like many people will tell you, everyone is different. But I would say out of courtesy don't make or bring in any of his all time favorites. You guys seem like you are already pretty sensitive, he is lucky to have you all on his support team.

I am wondering if you have any more progress on this? I have a Facebook support group for Kaiser members that is 106 members. But I would like to do more to bring it to an in person support.

Increased attention post-weight loss...
I get it. We don't walk around with a mirror all day long so I don't get why people need to talk about it all the time. And yes it is true some people will treat you different. I am struggling with the comments about how little I am and " what size" are you now? and are you going to stop because you need to stop, and are those kids pants..... sign I love my new body but others are going to take a while to adjust I suppose.

Maintenance is not what I expected.
Thank you for sharing, making the mental shift is very hard. I am so scared the thin person I see in the mirror will disappear one day...... but everyday is a new lesson and a new Journey. Thank you all for sharing and helping me to know I am not alone.

Best protein bar!?
That is why it's important to look at the ingredients, and Protein content. There are plenty of bars that are 200+ calories with less than 15g of protein and 12+ sugars, and half the ingredients are chemicals I can't pronounce. Be wise and read everything:-) Also all post on here are what works for us, we are all different in our journey and what works. I have taken some suggestions that worked wonderfully for me and others that just didn't. :-)

Best protein bar!?
you won't find better quality than Quest. Read the ingredients. Many bars are just junk food disguised as "healthy"

I ran my first chip timed 5k this weekend, I didn't think I could actually run the whole time but I did!! 34:08 :-) I had been struggling with how to transition from the mindset of weight loss to the fact I am at goal and don't need to loose more......fitness goals are helping, and my fun Fitbit

Maintenance is not what I expected.
- Maintenance is not what I expected.
So this weekend I ran my first chip timed 5k, and hit my surgeons set weight goal!! 140, I would like 3 more pounds so that clothed and not first thing in the morning maybe it will be 140 at the doctors office. But it was fun to accomplish my first fitness goal, and I wasn't the last one to cross the finish line :-) I finished in 34:08, I have never ran that long without stopping!! - Maintenance is not what I expected.
