Looks like this post is old

But I had a home birth 8 months ago
Post gastric bypass and everything went great!

Yes it is old, but I am about 6 months from begining to try to get pregnant. And our hope is that I will be able to have a home birth. Unfortunately right now I am about 30 lbs from my original goal weight. So I am trying to get back in shape and back on track to loose the weight before we start trying to get pregnant. With the hopes that I will be as healthy as possible, especially since I will be 34.

  2. I am also a San Diego Kaiser patient and I was also annoyed by the 6 months of classes. But now 2 years out, I would pay to go to those classes! It is not just the content it is the support and the relationships that I developed there. I got so much from our guest speakers and I also ended up founding the SD Kaiser WLS support group Facebook page. The people I met there have been a huge support and it helps that we have all gone through the same education and have the same group of surgeons. Yes it is a pain in the butt but making that commitment and making that time for your self is completely worth it!

I am feeling the exact same way!!! I loved being 135 and I just feel soft and puffy at 150. I never in a million years thought I would say that since I could never imagine being 150But I just felt better at 135-137. your description of them being vanity pounds sounds very accurate. But I really do want to loose them too. I just prefer it. It feels better and I think looks better.

Today I am doing a fasting day, and will try out the 5/2 plan. see if I can finally get the scale moving again. it has been stuck for over 6 months.

Right?!? When I started this journey I thought I would be thrilled to get to 165 where I had been comfortable before and 155 (the lightest I had even been as an adult and where I had worn bikinis) was a pipe dream!

Which is exactly why I wanted a reality check about whether it was crazy of me to want to get back down to 135!

Good luck to you on your fast day! Lemme know how it goes!

I tried on wedding dresses this weekend and it has a huge shocker. I know wedding dresses run small but crap! I was in a 0 or 2 now I am in 4s. So I was expecting my wedding dress size to be a 6 or 8. She said I was a damn 12-14!!! I was pissed to be in double digits. So I know I felt better at 135 and I am only 5'4.75" so I think it is not that far off.

  5. Super exciting news! IM ENGAGED!

And wedding dress shopping I can definitely feel the extra 15lbs that I just can't seem to loose!! And wedding dress sizes are so small I was shocked to have a double digit size!! I'm usually a 4 in pants but I was a 2, so I figured that would be a 6 or 8, 10 the biggest....NOPE! 12-14!! Don't get me wrong I felt amazing in the dresses. Just made me a little frustrated.

  6. Hey everyone. So glad to see your posts!!! I need to know I'm not alone. I am in the process of moving home to CT. Got laid-off again. Third time in four years since moving to Philly. I'm petrified! She is 5ft 8in and never weighed over 130. She is probably 105. In her kitchen is Cookies, chips, pastas, potato's, etc. The healthiest thing in her house is iceburg lettuce! Which has no nutritional value at all.

Wow!! That is a lot to deal with!! And that kind of temptations would make me crazy! Stay strong and know you CAN do this!

  7. @@enjoythetime 1000-1300 calories a day is low. We have almost identical stats, so this worries me. I have been consuming way less than 1000 per day, but this is in weight loss mode. Having to be below 1300 calories forever is quite daunting :( I suppose I won't know until I get there.

Each person is so different, if I eat more than 1,000-1,100 I gain :-/ but now its hard to go back to the 800-1,000. It is all about figuring out what works for your body. If you gain at 1,000 go back down or if you are able to maintain at 1,300 then stay there. But your bodies are forever different and need to monitor so we don't slip back and gain. Each body is different some are fine at 800 and some need more. The first 12 months of this journey were hard, but wow the second 12 months has its own challenges and I am sure that will be life long if I want to stay healthy.

    Good luck to you all

  8. @@PinkPolkadot619 true.. I haven't succeeded at losing weight but I think that has more to do with portion size and too -many- bad food choices rather than moderation.. both of which have to change but just to play devil's advocate.. a number of people post sleeve still drink alcohol.. and while that does have some health benefit in moderation it's not a Protein or a veggie.. your body doesn't "need" it and it's FULL of "unneeded" calories.. so why is that not frowned upon but a can of diet pop here and there is apparently completely taboo?

1, it is made from the earth. Fermented grapes. What is soda made from?

2, yes in moderation wine has some health benefits, soda in moderation or not has none.

But before 1 year and before maintenance it is all just slowing you down or hindering your mental shift to your new lifestyle.

I have not had any alcohol since surgery and honestly I don't care, same with soda. My ability to run and new healthy things are so much better.

  9. [qu ote name=Beck90" post="4153619" timestamp="1463009538]@@LondonHawk My theory before was never everything in moderation .. it was everything I want whenever I want it in gigantic quantities ;) that's how I got to the place I am in now.. now I believe the sleeve will -help- me to achieve something I have.. everything in moderation as a tool.

I wasn't looking for someone to tell me it's okay.. I'm already aware that many doctors think it's fine and just as many think it's not... I was looking for information about -why- their doctors say it's okay, what they say about combatting the "it stretches your stomach myth" and how long out from surgery they tried it.

That was why I said initially that I only wanted nice/favorable posts... I am well aware some people don't agree.. but was looking for information from those who do... [/quote

I'm curious.......... Have you found ONE doctor that has said its okay? Or even recommend, I haven't seen anyone ever post that. That is the reason people are posting here.

  10. @@Beck90 yes you have done it in the past, but ask yourself; have you been successful at loosing all excess weight and maintaining your weight loss long term?

All of the WLS vets I have talked to on line or in person who have been completely successful for longer than 2 years do not drink it, and have stuck to the low carb low sugar life style. It is a lifestyle change, and yes you might find 1 person who says they are fine, but I have meet hundreds who say it was the cause of their weight loss being slowed or gained back. yes only 1 a day can cause all of that. I encourage you to get the most out of your surgery and give your body a gift, that gift is not a can of chemicals. :-)

I do know the "can'ts" and "don'ts" are overwhelming; but please look at what you will have instead. there is so much more that I have gained that outweighs any desire for soda or anything else! I promise you. It is a mindset, and it takes practice and more practice to keep in going but positivity will keep you going for the long haul.

Smiles and good luck in your journey.

  11. I tried a sip and about barfed, it tastes horrible to me now and the small sip had me in pain for over 30 min with all the bubbles. I took the sip thinking it was tea but my boyfriend had got diet coke (that I used to enjoy)

Keep in mind some surgeons also say it is fine to eat mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese during the soft food phase......but if you choose to put healthy and only things that give your body nurturance then you can't be going wrong. I will tell you I have a friend who had RNY and drinks one a day and then it became more than that.

I know for me if I eat carbs or anything else it causes me to crave carbs and sugar even more, even just a small bite so I would proceed with a great deal of caution. I tried a few things that I wish I never reintroduced to my body. :-/

  12. thank you so much for your responses! if I have anything carb or sugar even a small bite, I am hungry all day and I crave more. It has been very hard and I have gained back 15 lbs. I am struggling to get those things out of my system again and go back to not craving that junk. I know if I can get it out of my system I will be happy and healthy. I am so happy to have lost 100 lbs but I did feel better at 115 lost. I know I can use my tool to help me even at 17 months post op. RNY

  15. It wasn't until maybe 9 months or so....Now it is pretty hard to keep in under control and I am a year and a half out. I hit and exceeded goal weight and I was so happy! I maintained my weight for 6 months and then hunger and stress hit and I have gained back about 12 lbs. Now it is a daily struggle to keep from grazing. but one choice and one day at a time. I know I can do this.

  16. I remember I didn't have time to stress eat before because I would have my planned meal and then go straight out for my walk or run. So now that is what I am doing, filling my time with activities. Yesterday was A 3 mile hike and a 6 mile bike ride and today so far I ran 2 miles during my lunch break. (some one brought macaroons in to work though.....ugh I miss the days of food not even looking good. sign one choice at a time. I made a choice to eat a macaroon but I also made the choice to go run 2 miles. smiles.

  17. so I am trying my best to get back to my healthy habits, trying to be active everyday, and eat only what my body needs not just whatever the hell I want.

I was so happy at 135lbs I loved how my body felt, I am now at 150 and I can tell my honeymoon phase is long gone, trying to loose these 15lbs has been harder than the 115lbs. at least that is how it feels right now.

Hope you all are feeling healthy and on track.
