    March 2014 Sleevers

I had my surgery on 3/4 of this year... I'm 6 weeks post op and I'm Down about 60 pounds. I do a lot of walking and drinking water. I don't drink anything with caffeine or sugar, I don't eat bread either and it helps.

    today is day 5

Well it's definitely been a while since I've updated my journey. I'm currently down 61 pounds in total and I am now 6-7 weeks post op! I feel great! I have so much energy and always want to be on the move which is definitely a change for me, but it's a good one that I enjoy. I've noticed that there are some things that I am not able to tolerate very well suck as bread, and sugar. But all in all I'm doing great

    today is day 5

Today I am 16 days post op. I went to follow up with my surgeons office and they said I'm doing well above average on my weight loss. I also was able to start my puréed diet today (which I was excited about). I found out that I'm down a total of 39 pounds! That's from starting my preop diet! Now that I get to go back to work tomorrow I'm sure it's gonna start flying right off!

    My journey

Hello. My name is Mandie. I'm 28 years old and I have alway been over weight. I had tried so many different weight loss methods from extreme dieting to medication. Well after 10 of no luck I decided to look into WLS. I started my journey in August of 2013, and just came home from having my surgery on 3/4/2014. So I am 2 days post op and idk how to really explain it and could def use some advise... Here's my dilemma. I'm on the phase 2 clear liquid diet. I am drinking what I need to to stay hydrated and I'm taking my vitamins and other medications that my dr put me on. I just don't see. To get the "full" feeling. Is this because I'm only on clear liquids or am I doing something wrong. I really need other people that have gone thru this surgery to talk to...

    My journey

Well today is 10 days post op and I went to my GP for a follow up found out I'm down 20 pounds! This gives me such a motivator, now I'm looking into a membership at my local YMCA so that I can start working out more. Still on the liquid diet for another week but I'm doing good on that too. The Popsicles are a great help to the "chewing"

    Wearing Jeans after surgery?

I'm 8 days post op and I'm already wearing. My jeans with a belt, because some of them are kinda loose. But everyone is different.
  8. This was an issue for me while I was on my pre op diet. But after 4 days I was good. I change my attention to something else til people kept apologizing and I had to tell them to stop, they were just trying to be respectful. I am not 8 days post op and still on the liquid diet til the 20th but I'm so comfortable with the diet that I have started cooking for my family and tho some of it smells amazing I'm not hungry and not even tempted to eat it.
  9. How many days before your surgery? I cheated one day on mine but it was before I had to drink my magnesium citrate so I was still able to get my surgery.

Surgery scheduled but family unsupportive need help

Heather...your families stories are coming from the lack of knowledge. I am a week post op and I'm doing great. I have NEVER thrown up and I'm starting to get my full amounts of energy back. Yes it is possible for some hair loss but your not going to go bald I promise. Every surgeon is different and the diets they have you follow are different. My family (particularly my husband) was not happy when I made the decision to have the sleeve done. However I had him come to the informational seminar that my surgeon requires, And my surgeons appointments, I even started having him do research with me which made him more relaxed. Then when we went to the preop appointment to meet withy surgeon for the last time he just started asking question after question which made him feel better. Help inform your family and educate them and it may help them. I know it's hard to proceed with this life changing decision without support of your family- but ultimately it is something that you have to decide! Good luck and we are always here for support.

    today is day 5

I had surgery on 3/4 so today is one week post op. My dr has me on a two week liquid diet supplemented with protein shakes 3times a day. At first it was really hard with the head hunger but now it's not too bad. I make a lot of soups homemade and that gives me a bunch of flavor which is definitely something I was missing. So that is definitely a huge help. I actually get to start my puréed diet on the 20th which I'm kind of excited for. I really want some mashed potatoes.

    My journey

We'll I'm now 7 days post op and doing better. I found my carnation drink mixes that my dr suggested and they are SO much better then the whey protein. I went outside to take my first longer walk...I made it around the block twice. I find out Thursday from my primary dr how much I'm down. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time.

    My journey

I would but unfortunately it has to be exactly 3oz as that is all my stomach will allow right now.

    My journey

Today I started to supplement my clear liquid diet with protein shakes. It's kind of discouraging because the dr told me to mix 3oz of slim milk with either a full scoop of whey protein mix or a packet of carnation good start breakfast no sugar added mix...it's super strong and really thick...this is for the next 11 days 3 times a day
  15. Hi I am also having the gas pain you are. It is so uncomfortable and hard some times to pass. I've had those oops moments too. I am also 3 days post op. Walking helps me but so does laying down some times. Then the gas comes from burping which makes my stomach feel tons better. I hope you the best of luck on your journey, the one thing I miss is FLAVOR...

    My journey

Thank you, see I did a lot of research before deciding on the surgery and I guess that I never really got the concept of it til now. I really appreciate it. I'm so excited to have this tool to begin a new life for me and my family. One other question I'd there anything I can do about the lack of flavor? I guess that's one thing I really miss about my before surgery diet...flavor. I mean I get it with my broths but for some reason that's only partially satisfying with the absence of flavors...
