  1. Sleeved on 6/30 and EXTREME fatigue the last 2 days. I take all my B12 and B1 Vitamins but I have a hard time getting in my Multivitamins. I get between 50-60 Proteins daily and less than 10 carbs. Calories are around 600-700.

I do have a hard time getting in more than 32 oz of Water though. The eating and then waiting to drink is part of the problem for me on getting enough Water in.

Has this happened to anyone else? My husband is getting concerned because I literally have no energy to do anything...

You might be getting dehydrated if you are not drinking enough water. Dehydration can feel almost like flu symptoms.

  2. Hi all!

I GOT A DATE! I have been crossing my fingers since the beginning that it would be this summer as I'm a teacher, so it would minimize sick time. With almost every step, things have miraculously fallen into place, and I've been able to fly through and get appointments earlier than expected, etc. Well, the surgeon's secretary called today to say they had an opening on August 13th, and I took it. This is what I've been waiting for for months (a lifetime maybe?).

And now I'm scared. I know the science behind it. I know why it's better than my previous attempts (whi*****lude everything out there). I know why I want to lose the weight and how much easier and healthier my life will be when I do. Suddenly, though, I have this nagging voice in my head. It says, "This is the easy way out. This isn't the right choice. You're rushing into this. You're still not going to keep the weight off. This is NUTS." Did any of you go through this? I know I have a great surgeon. I have read hundreds of success stories on here. I have unbelievable support from my family and friends. Still, though, I can't shake this feeling.

    Anyone else?

    -Ginnie

I had the same thoughts, I started thinking I didn't really need the surgery....then I went and took a before picture. Nothing like seeing that to remind myself that I really needed help.

  3. A couple of weeks ago I posted this forum question, http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/312336-stuck-feeling/, sad to say I am still having a few problems with this. I GREATLY appreciate everyones feedback.

It happens when I eat/drink, Protein shakes or pureed foods, I get this soreness/pressure/stuck feeling in my throat. The soreness/pressure/stuck feeling happens in my upper esophagus, no where near my belly, it's like right where the food starts to go down. It almost feels like a sore throat. I should also mention, it doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes. I have backtracked and I am thinking I need to let my throat heal some more, so I am going back to full liquids.

Has anyone experienced this? Any feedback or suggestions on what it could be? Do you think it's a smart idea to go back to strictly liquids?

I thought maybe I was eating and drinking to fast and that may of agitated my Upper Esophageal Sphincter, but it happened right after surgery so I am thinking that's probably not the case and I am no longer taking pills so I don't think it's that. I have an EGD scheduled for August 1st, but I LOVE getting everyones feedback, opinions, etc..; you guys have helped me so much. :)

Seeing the glass half full, I'm down to 503lbs. :D

My surgeon explained that although you are feeling this in your throat it's actually your stomach. That may be when you are full, but if you have just started eating try to take smaller bites (pencil eraser size), chew 20 times and wait 1 minute between bites. There is an app called Eat Slower that may help w/ that. Good luck and congrats on your weight loss!! :)

  4. I had my surgery on May 12, 2014 and this past Monday marked me beginning my 3rd week and introducing mushy/soft foods. Tonight for dinner I had a 2oz piece of baked cod fish and when I took 2 small bites it feels like it's stuck in my throat. Mind you, this happens with anything that's not a liquid. eggs, smashed sweet potato, smashed veggies. I had the gastric sleeve along with the hiatal hernia repair and my gallbladder removed. Will this pass or should I be concerned?

My surgeon said @ the last support group meeting that this is a signal you are full. The top of your stomach sends the signal to your throat. She said to try taking smaller bites (the size of a pencil eraser) and making sure you are waiting a minute between each bite. Maybe that might help????

  5. So, at this point my diet includes Beans, soft cooked veggies, soft fruits, oat meal and potatoes. Seems like all high carb foods. How do I keep my carbs low when I have such a limited selection?!

I'm 18 days in and have only dropped a pound this week. I drink Protein shakes but even they have a fair amount of carbs and some sugar.

nectar Protein shake mix and Isopure both have high Protein and zero carbs
