  1. Not sure now far post op you are but I was banded 6 months ago next week. I have had four fills and my last two were 0.25 each as I creep toward green. Some days I feel like I have little restriction. Some days lots. Mornings are tighter than evenings. If my food choices are lousy for a few days (carbs, sliders, fried foods) my restriction doesn't work as well afterwards. If my food is clean (solid Protein, no snacking, low carbs) for a day then my restriction seems to magically come back. I do not understand this at all but I am learning to listen to and obey my band better. I've only lost half the weight I want to lose, and I'll be darned if I'm going to wuss out now. My advice is to sit with this level for a month while keeping your food clean. See if that makes a difference. I fear going too tight and creating stuck and PB problems. I want this band to work for the long haul without erosion or other troubles I might have prevented with good habits. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  2. Gonna try the prune juice. Worried about reliance on stool softeners over a long period of time.
  3. I haven't weighed myself since reading this post and I feel so much better. I've also been in better control of my food. How crazy am I? I would weigh myself right after waking up and going to the bathroom. Before I even took my blood pressure medicine (water in the cup adds to the weight right?) or did anything at all, I hopped on to see if I should feel good or feel bad today. This week I decided to wait a week. Ditching the scale altogether was too scary. So I promised myself no weighing until Sunday. The difference is that I get up and start my day and feel good. My food has been straight and knowing that, it doesn't matter what the number is. Because in the long run I will lose the pounds. If I don't lose the pounds then the food isn't straight. So simple but such a difference in outlook.
  4. I hit send too fast. Wanted to say as long as you have satiety and the loss rate is good and not dangerous then the low calories are what your body must need/want for optimal health. Thanks for your info.
  5. Oh! That's lower than I would have guessed. Ok well, good to know!
  6. Somehow missed this post until today. Welcome and congratulations!
  7. Congratulations on your success! I was wondering if you had an idea how many calories you're eating a day, approximately of course. Just wondering how it all shakes out down the road. I'm halfway to my goal.
  8. Not weighing as soon as I open my eyes has been a real ... eye opener. Feeling strong today!!
  9. @@CarolinaGirl, starting my day off with a good laugh!
  10. Wow you have had an impressive loss!! Please cut yourself a little slack. Look at what you wrote. Look where you were ten months ago. This is not a race. You've changed your whole life. You're amazing ! A little slump is just that. If you're not going to the gym right now try to do other things like walk around the neighborhood on your work break. Shake up your food plan a bit. I'm doing that right now because I developed an affinity for fried chicken strips and it was doing me no favors. We're gonna do this! We're in it for the long haul. Stay connected here and keep moving forward!!
  11. @@docbree don't give up. I don't remember why you ruled out LapBand but unfortunately no NSAIDs with those either. LapBand with plication has been successful for some folks here. Your polyps will be benign: good thoughts. Keep pushing for a solution. You are a tough lady!
  12. Not my area but check out Little Company of Mary in Oak Lawn. They have a support group that meets on the first Tuesday of the month. LapBand meeting at six, sleeve and RNY meeting at seven.
  13. No reflux for me. Maybe check with your surgeon's office? Lots of gurgling but no acid.
  14. Interested in what others have found helpful as well. I tried a stool softener but like you said, it recommends up to six capsules a day. ??? Seriously, ain't nobody got time for dat.
  15. Yes! And I wore one to work yesterday and it actually felt good for the extra warmth because our office was cold. Did I say that? Me? Cold?
  16. @@lisacaron, your post made my day.
  17. Lol I just realized that yesterday. Much easier!!!
  18. I'm so sorry for what you've gone through. I hope you get some comfort from this board and knowing that you have friends here.
  19. I grieved in anticipation too. Grieved the loss of binge eating even though I was having surgery in order to stop binge eating. Logic be damned. You will be fine. Stick to pre op protocol religiously. You WILL enjoy food again but even better you WILL enjoy satisfaction on small amounts. Most days. Won't lie. Head hunger is real. But it is fleeting. We are stronger than our head hunger. Good luck and keep looking here for support.
  20. What appeals to me is that this isn't a radical change. My doctor wanted me on 800 calories a day early in my post op period. I can handle 500 two separate days of the week especially if I know the next day I can always have whatever I'm craving. Sometimes I need to get out of my inaction and this hopefully will be a way to do that.
  21. Okay I was feeling like some almonds so I had some but I'm definitely feeling more restriction today. It's always a challenge for me to STOP chewing when I feel food stopping up but before real satiety/satisfaction. But when I do stop I am always always glad I did. So today even with about 8 or 9 almonds left on my desk from my quarter cup I stopped and tossed them in the wastebasket. I'm still catching up on the videos but Thursday I think I will make my 500 calories one meal which will be lunch. That sounds doable to me and work-friendly. Oh and side note, I can't believe it took me this long to figure this out, but Subway will make a salad for you with any old thing you want in it veggie wise. So yesterday I had all veggies and a little shredded cheese and the shaker seasonings. No dressing. Some banana peppers instead. They chopped it for me and I didn't even need dressing. Not even oil. Maybe Thursday I'll add some more Protein to that and have another salad. My problem recently with food was having fried food all the time and too many carbs. I rationalized the fried food big time. I'm encouraged today with this kick start and will choose healthier. Feeling good!
  22. @@gowalking, you're a ruby for sure. It's scary. I'm divorcing and don't have to think about that for quite awhile which is a blessing considering my fragile emotional state right now. All I know is this. Be true to yourself. Don't let anyone else define you. Easier said than done but girl, you've done some hard as hell stuff in the last year or more. We love you and support you. Enjoy your date!
  23. Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground. Great earwig. Thanks for that.
  24. shake it off. Omg I just quoted Taylor Swift. It's the end of the world as we know it.
