  1. If you can attend an OA meeting near you, you will find help. OA.org. The first step is admitting the problem. Don't ever ever give up on yourself.
  2. I am so sorry for your loss. I'm glad you're taking care of yourself. Please stay connected here.
  3. Great list, Lisa! Now I have to do that 5k. I asked a friend if she wanted to do it with me and she is signing up today! Bacon, what have you gotten me into? ????
  4. @@Bandista, I'm a finisher too. Heck I am a buy-two-one-for-you-and-keep-your-hands-off-mine finisher. Pre WLS I knew I was done when the food was gone. Binge eating does not begin to describe it. I would eat until it's gone. Period. Even now when I feel a soft stop I have to will myself to stop. It's getting easier but that's because I practice it more. It's not a natural behavior for me to stop even when I am uncomfortable. Thankfully I don't get to the discomfort stage very often anymore. I haven't been even mildly stuck in awhile. When I give the dog part of a morning egg or part of an evening piece of meat, it feels like I am walking in a world that normal people have always known. I need to tell myself each time that, "This is what I do now. I don't overeat anymore." Thanks for the reminder. I'm grateful for this change too.
  5. I'm one year post op. I'm happy and have had no complications. I keep my band loose enough to take Tylenol caplets. I actually take two at each fill to make sure I'm not too tight. Getting to green takes several months but it's better to creep up on it rather than go too tight and have to unfill. I have lost 100 pounds and about 98 of those were in the first 7 months. I have 50 to go. It gets harder to lose, and this is where I need to eat lower calorie food and cut out the crap. I've also very recently started a walking regimen. Except for the first three months post op I wasn't exercising. It's not a magical cure, but the band truly helps with hunger. The rest is up to me. Good luck deciding!!
  6. Bacon, that's success. Splitting a sandwich instead of eating two or three (yes I can put those suckers away) is success. You are on track. Have a good day today.
  7. Good luck to those having surgery today!
  8. Great day on target for food and exercise. I still can't believe I'm walking every day at lunchtime and enjoying it. I really really wanted my favorite carby Thai food today but I didn't give in. I had a salad and a piece of chicken Kiev instead. Tonight I boiled up some eggs to have a quick Protein on hand tomorrow. Went to a CoDA meeting tonight. Feeling good about my choices this week. I've never done a 5k before. I saw one advertised in Chicago that looks intriguing. My question to those who have done them: is it universally okay to walk instead of run or does it depend on the particular race? I absolutely can't run with these knees. But I can walk for sure. Thoughts? Here's the link to the race I found. This one says you can walk it. Can you guess why it sounds so appealing?? Lol http://www.thechardonnayrun.com/?utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=facebook&utm_campaign=chicago&utm_content=women-homepage
  9. Such great news !!!
  10. Congratulations on your long term success!! This is very encouraging to us who are new. I'm a year out and now that my weight loss has slowed and is harder to achieve, I like to hear from banders who have had long term success like you. Thank you for posting!
  11. Hurray for you!!! Thanks for your inspiring post today. Never ever ever give up on yourself. The beauty of the band is it lets us knuckle down and reset when we need to. It helps so much to have proper fill. Please stay connected here and we will keep each other motivated. Rock your band!
  12. @@Bluesea71 Omg you're gorgeous!!! Seriously this post inspired me today. I doubted if I could get to my goal weight and now I want to get there so much! You look GREAT. Thank you so much for posting.
  13. You know you're a bander when you read this as getting a soft stop signal instead of a cell phone signal. Lol I had to read it twice. Thanks for the chuckle.
  14. Good reminders. Funny how you forget things. I used to keep hard boiled eggs in the fridge but forgot all about them recently. Great lists.
  15. Challenge is six extra miles of walking this week and a daily note of what you're proud of or grateful for that has been a positive change since WLS.
  16. 528 stairs at work per day. I counted yesterday. My six miles are in for the week. I've been going to bed with a slightly grumbly stomach each night. I'm hoping this turns into weight loss. At my surgical support group Monday I saw the NUT and she said the increased movement will help a lot. It all makes sense. I need to let go of the results and do the work. The plastic surgeon said that a panniculectomy could be done at the weight I am now if I pursued it. But just hearing that good news made me want to get to goal first. Weird but it inspired me to work harder. Today I will have ground beef for Breakfast, nuts and cheese for lunch and salad and ground beef for dinner. I'm probably staying home tonight but I might go grocery shopping. Today I am grateful for my body that has rallied with weight loss and served me well even after years of obesity. My heart is strong. My knees are not but they work with cortisone shots every few months. I'm treating them better by taking off the weight and they treat me better by taking me on walks now. A healthy cycle for a change. I know I will be able to walk a 5k this spring. Now I just need to find one and sign up.
  17. Congratulations !! Isn't it great? You're on your way!
  18. Lisa be careful with NSAIDS with your band. You might want to take Prevacid while you're on them.
  19. Walking will help. Also have a friend do karate chops on your neck and shoulders several times a day. Good luck!
  20. I accidentally walked an extra 8 flights of stairs yesterday. Four sets of eight instead of three. FitBit told me that at the end of the day. This must be getting easier. Yesterday was on target and it felt very good to get out and get my two miles in at lunch. The food was on plan too. I made it to my OA meeting and squeezed in a foot massage afterwards. Today Breakfast will be eggs, lunch cheese and nuts, and dinner salad and beef. CoDA meeting in the evening. The change I am proud of today is the willingness to stop eating when I get the stop signal. I don't always do this but I do it more lately. As we know, we can still overeat with the band. It can be miserable but it can be done, usually followed by sliming and PB'ing. Between the last normal bite and that bite that sends us to the bathroom, there are one or two bites that say "that's just enough". Even if we don't PB, we can sense when more would be more than we really need. I don't want to stop then because it tastes good and I'm enjoying myself. But if I do stop, a minute or so later the desire to keep eating is truly gone and I feel really satisfied and healthy. Not stuffed, not uncomfortable. This feeling is what I guess that normies feel when they end a meal. Today I am proud and grateful to be able and willing to eat like a normie.
  21. I've been using the app today but it's the same as I mentioned.
