  1. Just checking in with my peeps. Where is everybody? I've been having a rough week at home with my mom. Trying to put it in perspective and looking forward to my daughter's spring break this coming weekend. One day at a time!
  2. What I mean is liquids only seems to reset it and it requires less food once resumed to make me feel satiated.
  3. All of you are warriors. Keep up the fight. I am too. I had a mixed day with the food. It went fine up through lunch but I ate a carby dinner which didn't do me any favors. I went to an FA meeting. Not my cup of tea. It was very different from my OA meeting in tone and content, which surprised me. But I gave it a try. I'm living with my mom while I am going through this divorce. My girls are living here too, but they're away at college at the moment. My mother is becoming increasingly angry day to day and it's getting very hard to take. She's lashing out at me and to avoid taking the bait, I spend a lot of time out of the house at 12 step meetings or at the movies. Anybody who says food addiction is not as serious as alcohol or drugs has not lived with a food addicted raging parent. Enough whining. I got my stairs in and because my knees have been hurting so much lately, I scheduled my cortisone shots for tomorrow. I was bummed about that, but then realized it's been six months since my last shot in just one knee, compared to pre WLS when I had shots in both knees every four months. So that's progress. If I hadn't fallen on the ice three times this winter and then twisted my knee badly attempting Zumba a few weeks ago, I could probably have waited another month. But it is what it is. Tomorrow high Protein and low carb and lots of Water. I did drink a lot of water today. Carry on, Warriors!
  4. Im a bander so I won't give advice except: Don't ever ever ever give up on yourself. You are worth recovery !!
  5. I love this post.
  6. For me just resting my band makes it feel tighter. I think it's okay. Just ease into solids and chew thoroughly and slowly.
  7. My dinner of Soup and salad didn't hold me. Stomach growling at 9pm. I ended up eating artichoke salad late in the evening. Not a good choice but better than wine. The oil bothered my sleep, so lesson learned. We are expecting lousy weather today and tonight including freezing rain. However, I'm excited to be going to the FA meeting after work. Today more Protein and less salad. Lots of Water at work. And my stairs.
  8. My port site wAs lumpier and more sore than the other incisions. Call your team if you're worried. Rule of thumb is that each day you should have less pain , not more. If that's not the case, call them. Congrats on your surgery!!
  9. How did it go? Hope you're feeling well. Post when you can!
  10. @@s_suther, I've never heard of FA. Just googled it and there's a meeting nearby tomorrow. I will check it out. I was in OA 25 years ago and lost 130 pounds. Met my husband, got married, dropped OA, and gained 150. In 2014 I got WLS, dropped the abusive husband, filed for divorce, went to CODA and back to OA, and dropped 100 pounds so far. Not sure what opinion you want but you have a plan and a good support system, and that's a formula that works in my book.
  11. Lisa, you're not alone and you're not the only one struggling. Take a breath. You've been through a lot with your son lately. It's devastating to watch someone you love suffer. Your posts always make me think and always point me to something in my life I need to see too. When I don't see you posting as often it means you must be off trying to handle it all on your own. For me that doesn't work. I find success when I reach out. So let's grab this thing by the horns and beat it back. I've had several weeks of losing and gaining the same five pounds. Why? I want to eat what I want and drink wine whenever I want. That got me really far didn't it? Today I had yogurt for Breakfast because I forgot that all my Protein shakes were At work. Then deli meat and cheese for lunch. Now Soup and a salad for dinner. I commit to no more food after this dinner and no wine tonight. I'm off to an OA meeting as well. I got my stairs in at work and guess what. For today that is my imperfect day and that's just fine.
  12. @@Alex Brecher, is this within a few months of happening? I want to order more unjury but I'll wait and do it here if it's soon.
  13. Anything you can do to change habits before WLS helps after surgery. My nurse had me on the treadmill the day after surgery. I had changed some eating habits pre op and I wish I had started walking before WLS too.
  14. Planning a calm Monday of self care and mindful eating. No beating myself up. Back on track a day at a time.
  15. Go to Goodwill every week or two and try on jeans. Once you get a pair of two that fit you (and ignore the size because different brands are all over the map) you'll love wearing good fitting jeans. I didn't even own a pair of jeans at my top weight of 302. My jeans from 280 pounds are in a drawer for posterity. I kept them and my winter coat. Everything else I donated. Kick them to the curb!!
  16. Whew. Ate a lot of food this weekend including Desserts and wine. I feel tempted to fast tomorrow just to cleanse and reset. I will aim for a Protein shake for Breakfast and some cheese and Buddig beef for lunch with Soup for dinner. I could have taken advantage of the warm weather we had today to walk but I didn't. Feeling bloated and tired. Okay enough whining! Tomorrow back to the stairs at work and the eating plan above.
  17. I'm definitely tighter in the morning. It was explained to me like this. You know how your feet swell during the day, but then when you lie down and sleep, the swelling goes down? Fluids, blood, are affected by gravity. When sleeping, fluids are redistributed throughout your body and tissues. What may have been in your lower extremities in the evening is now back in your upper body and organs. Your band is a ring around part of your stomach. If your tissues have more Fluid in them when you wake up, the restriction around your stomach will feel tighter until later in the day when the fluids tend to migrate downward due to gravity again. Sounds weird but makes perfect sense to me. I am definitely tighter in the earlier part of the day and the loosest in the evening.
  18. Came back to this post today with an update. I switched to decaf only about two months ago and cut way down on even the decaf since then. I drink more tea and Water now. I sleep better and am not as jittery. My reasons for giving it up had to do with anxiety. I was also tired of having coffee breath all the time which led me to chewing gum all day long. I'm feeling much calmer without caffeine and glad I made the switch. Less coffee breath, less gum chewing.
  19. I'm sorry you've had so much trouble. I do take your message to heart. I hope this all gets resolved for you soon and the DS works out. Keep us posted.
  20. Like B52 said, drinking won't work for me. Spit it up, stop eating, give the body a rest for several hours and stick to liquids until the next day at least.
