  1. I wish you both smooth sailing.
  2. My dog. And he's no teacup chihuahua either. German Shepherd mix, 58 pounds. Add yours! Be creative!
  3. Only a third of my weight is gone and I'm seeing the dreaded turkey neck. (Getting old sux. However, it is better than the alternative.) Does it ever "snap back" after age fifty? Any suggestions for me other than turtlenecks and scarves?
  4. All I can say is Wow! Congratulations!! N
  5. Congratulations!!!
  6. @@Georgeann806, you can do this. We are all here for support. Kudos to you for recognizing the benefits of this not only for yourself, but for your kids. Pre and post op seem like long ordeals but they really are just a blip in the grand scheme of things. Before you know it you'll be living the banded life and feeling so much better. It's so very worth it and so are you. Welcome and stay connected.
  7. I hope your doc can determine what's wrong. Hopefully an adjustment can help.
  8. I'm so sorry you had this happen. Please take care and let us know now it goes. Feel better!
  9. @@gowalking, I understand this. It's a body blow to me when it hits me how many years I kept my ostrich head in the sand. I found a "before" picture yesterday. Not my highest weight, but a candid picture that someone took of which I was unaware at the time. I was volunteering at an event, and helping traffic move along. The orange vest I had to wear as one of the traffic directors of course did not fit me. On top of that, my facial expression made it look like I was angry. I wasn't, but seeing that picture again reminded me how little I was aware of how I really looked. Yesterday, my well-meaning boss popped his head up from his cube, and said loudly in front of everyone, "How much weight HAVE you lost?!" I joked it off, replying, "A leeeetle bit". He replied, again in front of everyone, "Well you really look good. It's especially noticeable after you came back from vacation!" I know he means well, and his weight goes up and down 20 pounds frequently himself. Also, in our office, there has occasionally been a Biggest Loser contest over the years, before I was hired. They are almost all men, and it's a fun challenge for them. But lately, more and more people are commenting on my weight-loss at work. I have found myself literally physically dodging certain individuals. I really do not want to discuss the numbers. So I don't. I give a deliberately vague answer when I am flat out questioned about how much. The reasons for this are complex. But I know that a great deal of the reason is that I am ashamed of how much I have to lose. I don't want to be ashamed, but now that the blinders are off, it is hitting me full on. I can no longer ignore the fact that I was over 300 pounds. I know that this is something I will struggle with for a long time. I also know that once I achieve goal weight, I still will have to deal with these issues. I did not get to 302 by having high self-esteem. Of course I would never change a thing. The smartest thing I ever did was get banded. I know that no matter how hard these emotional hurdles are, this is what I needed to do. I am thrilled with my new body so far, and thrilled with what it can do. I vow to take good care of it for the rest of my life. But I have no illusions that this is only physical. If I don't get some "WLS" surgery for my brain, I am doomed to go back up the scale. I'm a little scared, because I think that will be the hardest part of this process. Thank you for always sharing the reality of what this process is and does. It helps immensely to know that we are not alone.
  10. Okay, I know I'm not the only one eating non-breakfast food for Breakfast. Let's hear what your breakfasts look like post WLS and what type of WLS you had. I was banded 12 weeks ago. Today I had a cup of coffee followed by a cup of turkey cranberry salad. Yesterday I had a Greek lamb meatball. Loving this crazy life!
  11. I almost, should have, tried, but didn't, buy a clothing item on my recent trip to Italy in my goal size. I didn't think of it until the last two days there, and I was scared away by how much we had spent already and couldn't find anything I liked. Can you say "regrets"? From now on I will purchase something if I travel in the size I want to be. It will be both a reward and a memory. Now, where am I going next? Hmmmm.
  12. I love your enthusiasm. It lifts me up! You look great!
  13. You look beautiful!
  14. I didn't think I would do it, but now I am considering a panniculectomy. The reason is, when I lost weight once before many years ago, the one thing that saddened me was the fact that I still had sagging hanging skin. To think that I could actually get to a lower weight than that now with my band, but still have the sagging hanging skin to make me sad, is too depressing to contemplate. At first I dismissed a panniculectomy because it was so expensive and would require too much time off of work. But I can't get it out of my mind now. So I think I will plan to do it, and make the decision later. The reason it's important to plan that ahead of time, is that you need to have a paper trail with your primary physician showing a need, a medical need, for the surgery. Anyway, that may be my goal.
  15. @@Nettyinlacey, that is a tremendous success! I'm so happy for you! Who cares if it's not the norm? Take it and run with it!
  16. That includes pre-op and good habits started in February. But yes I have lost that much. I am so thrilled. For the people who are struggling with their first month postop, all I can say is hang in there, it will come off eventually. Just stick to the program!
  17. Doing the happy dance for you!!
  18. I despise exercise, but I'm despising it less the more weight I drop. Why? It's easier and I don't feel like I'm going to pass out. As suggested, start slow and manageable. Walk around your block two times a day. Walk your dog. Take a flight of stairs at work. I just started that one this week. Walk on your lunch break around the work neighborhood. Get a FitBit. I promise you'll want to move when you see it on a FitBit. Good luck.
  19. Amazing! You're gorgeous! Thanks for all the support you give to all of us here by keeping it real.
